This is a very nice, trendy restaurant that I have been hoping to check out since it opened recently. I ordered iced tea and the steak frites. This place is known for a variety of beers and shame on me for refraining from alcohol consumption this month. The iced tea had a unique taste that didn't appeal to me. The steak frites was delicious and moist. It was sliced up well and the fries were well seasoned and a good match. Spent a lot of time here as a Morristown local, but after a recent situation I will not be returning. I came with a group of friends on Sunday to watch the NFL games. Bar was mildly crowded, nothing crazy. All ordered drinks at the bar with no problem. No one asked to see our IDs, but we are all 24+ years old. My friend went to order her second beer and was asked by the bartender if they could see her ID. She provided it without hesitation. The bartender then took her ID to the back and did not return for a long period of time. Confused, my friend continued to wait at the bar for her to return. When the bartender returned, she insisted that she could not serve my friend as her ID was fake. My friend was born and raised in NJ, is of age, and has a real ID. My friend offered to provide additional credit cards with her full name on it for the needed 'proof' of verifying her identity, but the bartender refused and said she would need another form of ID with both her name and photo. My friend did not have her passport or anything else on her, so the bartender told her she needed to leave. My friend kindly asked to speak to a manager and the bartender told her that she was in fact the manager. Becoming increasingly frustrated, my friend continued to question the manager. The manager threatened to call the police, to which my friend agreed would be a good solution as they could verify her ID was real. Unfortunately, 'no cop was on duty' so they could not send someone to verify her ID. The manager decided to take matters into her own hands and 'prove' to my friend that her ID was fake by bending it aggressively down the middle. Her ID made a snapping noise and is now damaged, making the ID appear more 'fake' than it ever did prior. The manager responded with a smart ass comment along the lines of "Well if it was real it wouldn't have done that in the first place." Funny, because it was real all along. We had intended to spend several hours at this bar with a large group of friends, but all left extremely disappointed in the way Revolution handled the situation with my friend. I'm absolutely appalled that someone who is a manager of a bar would behave in such a disrespectful way towards a customer, and would have such limited knowledge of what constitutes a real ID vs a fake one. read more

So the food here was pretty good, I got the reuben and while i felt the portion was small, it was very tasty which is what mattered. They had a pretty good selection on tap, Although the first beer i ordered had already kicked that night, wish they updated those fancy tap menus, you would think the point is that they are always up to date other just stick to paper. This was the good. The bad was the services was super slow, 25 minutes before someone came over to our table. Once we saw someone we got our drinks quickly but getting ahold of them again was difficult. The guy was nice at least. The bartender who we originally were talking to was a little snippy. We asked if we could sit at the bar tables that were right next to the bar. She she said they were reserved for a party but we are welcome to just stand. So gave this place another chance after avoiding it for almost 2 years (and truly the only reason why is because The Office had a 45 minute wait--and TBH, I think everyone in the restaurant was there for the same reason). Pretty decent place - probably best for happy hour. There is plenty of long communal tables to gather around, along with a bar menu that has plenty of shareable items, as well as main menu dishes. I love the atmosphere and the beer selection is always good and always changing so you can try something new. Their truffle fries are the best I've ever had and the open faced Reuben is delicious. All the food I have tried is good with the exception of the bbq sriracha wings I have been extremely disappointed with the incredibly rude staff however. For the last 5-6 times I have come here with friends we are always treated terribly. The hostess seem to be too busy to ever seat you and if you do not want food they immediately treat you rude. It's a beer hall, so they always have a great beer selection and are constantly rotating new brews in. The bartenders are friendly and let you sample whatever draft you want. They also have a pretty big menu, and the portion sizes are HUGE, to the point where many items actually seem underpriced. My one gripe with Revolution, and I know this is probably weird, but I can't get over how modern it is inside. I don't understand why a place that's going for a German beer hall-type vibe would make all of the surfaces...metal. We had an order of fried pickles to share which were really tasty. My order was the bbq pulled pork with fries/coleslaw. This was the worst pulled pork sandwich I have ever had. The pork was not cooked in bbq sauce. It was plain and tasteless with a smear of bbq sauce on top. The bun was wet from the pork drippings. I asked for additional bbq sauce but it never came. I did let the waitress know the issue. I know she was working hard and it was not her cooking skills at question here. So this is nothing against her. The tater tots themselves were not as crispy as I would have liked and the drisselled cheese were a bit watered down. It definitely lacked flavor. The sausage plate was accompanied with a side of German potato salad, sauerkraut and mustard. The portion was more than enough for 2 people and very filling. However, again, the flavors were lacking. For example, the Bauwern Wurst was supposedly spicy, but it was no where near that and was a bit bland. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but I was a bit disappointed with the food. The menu is very interesting with its Wursts, Large Pretzel and other comfort food items. Just ordered the jalapeno poppers today and how unique....they halved a jalapeno and stuffed it and then breaded the top. It was absolutely delicious. I must say though...the most impressive person was met with their bartender Kalyn. She made me the most amazing bloody marry from scratch, and then a spicy margarita. And at each step, she professionally took a new straw and used it to taste the flavor of the drink to ensure it was good and correct. That impressed the hell out of me because many bartenders do not. My husband and I came in for a beer after dinner. They have a decent tap list. We had eaten here when they first opened and our group thought the food was just ok. We haven't ordered food here since then. We just come for the beer. The space is loud to begin with because of the acoustics, but tonight they had club music that was so loud we couldn't talk to each other. And not one person there was enjoying the music, but rather everyone was yelling trying to carry on a conversation. Unlike other reviews I actually haven't had a poor interaction with the staff here- all have been super attentive to my drink orders/food. I've been here once with a friend and another time with a larger group so although it gets busy in both instances felt the servers were on top of the orders. What I love the most about this spot is it really caters to larger groups. Whether you want to chill with a group of friends or coworkers, watch the game or chill at the booth and catch up on life it's a spot where you can actually have a conversation without having to yell from the top of your lungs haha. Either that, or it sat under the heat lamp for too long (no runners? Are servers running their own food?) anyways, I politely asked her if we could either have more cheese melted on the nachos, or if we could have *possibly* a new set of nachos. So at the end, we finally got ONE water to us with our BILL and it was delivered by a bartender, she was cool. But we got one water, lol. We tipped of course, it would've been a better tip but it didn't feel deserved. I wanted to speak to a manager and I asked for one TWICE to two different people and no one came. I asked a back waiter where they were and she said "there are 5 managers here, and they are all in a meeting in the basement." I spoke with a manager, didn't get a name, and I told her exactly what I am writing in this review: that she was definitely an inexperienced server and shouldn't have offered us SHREDDED CHEESE for our nachos who are we kidding here? She said "well we use shredded cheese for our nachos" and I said "I'm sure you DO NOT use cold shredded cheese." And I mentioned that our server was overwhelmed which isn't her fault, I've been a server before so I know (I said this) and she probably shouldn't be serving a big section. And what did this manager say? She said "well you would understand that your statement just now was very rude." LOLLLLLL okay so yeah she handled that very poorly. So I said your nachos suck, good bye, and hung up. What makes me upset was that my friends and I were polite about the nachos at first. Place was great! Had a party of 17 people and we were easily accommodated by the humble and sweet person in Brittany the floor manager. The high tables and chairs were prefect for our large party because we were all able to stroll around the table at any given point and chat with others with looking downward and feeling uncomfortably noticed. It also came with fries that looked more like potato sticks from a can. The burger was ok , but the fries were the same . If you are going to charge $14.00 for a cheese steak and call it a Philly Cheese steak it better be one . At first, Revolution seemed terrible. My friends and I got to the bar ready to order drinks and we were ID-ed. Not a big deal, we're all old enough to drink. The bartender took our IDs and gave them back to us. About 5 minutes later he comes back without our drinks and explains that he needs our IDs again. Frustrated and embarrassed, we reluctantly gave him our IDs. He took them to the back with a guy (I assume is his manager) to scan them. We were pissed and ready to leave. The bartender comes back and apologizes and ends up giving us our drinks for free which was incredibly nice. Another bartender overheard how upset we were and gave us free shots as an apology. Parker and Michael - thank you for service - you made Revolution a better experience. Note to the Revolution manager - don't send your employees to do your dirty work.
