This place fell short of my expectations. My coworkers brought it up to me, therefore we wanted to try since my son & husband lovessss burgers. It's a food court with its own shared parking lot. When we went in there was a huge line to the door. As you go up the line, there are multiple menus placed to your left in which they have multiple different food options to choose from. Gave me anxiety as I felt rushed coming here for the first time. A line gathering up behind us, ppl in front of me, didn't want to be rude reaching over ppl to grab the menus. So just waited as we moved up to look at them. There's so many options it's overwhelming. Once we got to the front, we were trying to place our order only to find out we waited in line for nothing. The burger line was the empty line to the left which there's no signage or nothing to explain. We did order 1 adobada taco, a horchata, & a sprite. The girl forgot my sprite, told me to go order in the left line for burgers. So when I was placing our burger order, I asked for the sprite I never received. The cashier for burger spot said I have to go back into the other line to order that. Confusing af. Luckily it had 2 customers & not a line out the door like when we first arrived. I ordered the smoked brisket burger, my son the Russel cheeseburger, & my hubby the "burgers & fries." My son did not touch his burger, literally went to waste. My husband said his was ok. As for my brisket burger, I did not like mine at all. It was super salty. It came with a meat patty & CHUNKS of cubed brisket? When I got smoked brisket I assumed it would've been like a pulled pork texture. Quite the opposite. They were chunks of cubed meat. I didn't finish mine. We took everything to go & didn't eat the leftovers once home. We paid around $50 for some less than mediocre burgers that I could've done better at home. I liked that the food court had a self serve salsa bar with plenty of salsas, ingredients, etc. The presentation of the food was good! But the food just wasn't it for us. Probably would never return tbh. Also, when we were wrapping up - the server was hovering over us to finish so she could take the boards/fry basket back. Not like we're gonna steal them. Lol. But I get it, maybe previous patrons have put them near the trash or thrown them away. As the burger place may be its own individual business aside from the food court.

This place was a nice surprise. We decided to have lunch and seen this new burger addition. The burgers bun alone was 5 star. Nice and toasted bun with each bite. I asked for extra mayo, but it came with its own special sweet sauce. Nice size burger we are stuffed! My only compliant is where you order. It's not easy to find a little confusing. We just asked for help, but the food was worth it.

Rey TJ Burgers is part of a collaborative indoor food court which it is part of a half-dozen or so other separate eateries (i.e. taqueria, sushi, taco stand, seafood, etc.). Despite being located indoors, my dog was allowed in their food court and it was very clean and comfortable inside. We came during the late lunch time (Thurs 1:45pm) and the dining area during our visit was pretty quiet (less than 15% capacity). I assume it's much busier than this during peak lunch or dinner time. NOTE: Rey TJ Burgers does not sell beverages. But you'll be able to purchase sodas, water, juices, or alcoholic beverages at any of the other eateries right next to RTJB. I had a single patty cheeseburger (minus mayonnaise & pickles) and an order of seasoned shoestring fries. The lady taking my order was nice enough to charge me for a double patty to accommodate a single patty w/ no salt for my dog who was with me. PROS: service was great, dining area was clean, food tasted fresh, prices were reasonable. CONS: I love burgers! I was also hungry so I finished this single patty cheeseburger with no problem. I just didn't think it rated among the best burger spots I frequent. That's no knock on Rey TJ Burgers. It's middle of the pack, would I eat here again, yes. If someone asked me to list my top 5 burger spots in town, would Rey TJ Burger make the list, no. That said, I am happy that new burger spots are opening up and giving choices to us patrons. It's a solid 3++ stars for me.

I heard about this spot on IG, and everything was looking delicious. I came early for the grand open, and it's a very chill spot, and they have corn hole on the side. I got the double burger with fries, and I was blown away. I'm not a big fan of Thousand Island sauce, but theirs was very tasty!!! The fries were also delicious because they were very well seasoned. I was very impressed with my meal!!! I'll be back for sure!! Thank you, Rey Tj Burgers!!!!

Well we came here with high expectations. It was listed in an article on the top three burger places in Chula Vista, alongside one of our favorites, a stand-by, the Balboa South. So I really came with some high expectations. And they were not approached. The burger was ok. It wasn't awesome and it wasn't horrible. It was ok. I might well say somewhat above average, but not by much. The fries were actually pretty good. The folks were reasonably friendly. If that was all there was to say here I would probably be giving it 3 stars and with some other good notes it might have made 4 stars. But there were enough downsides to take a 3 and push it over the edge to a 2. First off, it was expensive. I won't say that I've never paid $19 (plus tax) for a 1/2lb burger with a dash of fries. I expect that at the Hyatt. Or the Parc. I just don't expect it in an open air on a picnic table with a walk up order next to a parking lot. Our picnic table was not clean when we sat. Not normally great sin at a place with open air picnic tables, but it was only 5:30 and the place was empty except for 2-3 staff, so this wasn't dealt with before we got there because? If there was a usable bathroom, nearby my wife wasn't directed to it to wash her hands. Instead it was washbasin, without soap, emphasizing the somewhat sketch level of cleanliness throughout. The best seating in the place also happens to be right by the entrance, right by the parking lot. That particular evening saw a series of about seven to ten V8 Mustangs slowly backing and filling in front of the entrance dumping exhaust gasses onto the front table--ours. The disappointing thing is that there was no response by the staff, so I assume this happens a lot. A lot more often than I would want to face in the future. I've got no issue with a cheap, good hamburger joint being a cash only place. But at $19 for an average cheeseburger not accepting credit cards seemed shocking. Minor, I know, but I can't remember the last time I paid $19 for a cheeseburger and couldn't buy a beer. So we left unfulfilled. It started at average and worked its way down. Too bad.

The best burger and fries ever

There is a part of me that doesnt want to write this review. That part comes from the greedy desire to keep this place my secret. With that said, HOLY SHIT this burger slaps! Best burger I have ever had. Ordered the double cheeseburger with bacon and onion. Presentation: 10/10 Taste: 11/10 Price: 9/10 Overall satisfaction 11/10 Geeezus H I want another one asap Ughhh I hope they prosper, but I guess ill wait in long lines. It will happen. Ordering in this food hall type space can be a touch confusing, but now that I know, im good to go for my next visit. Thank you for existing

It's a small Mexican burger place with a few big and small tables. They accept Cash only, you can do Zelle or Venmo too. The burger is pretty good; the beef patty is fresh, tender, and juicy. The fries are good as well; not oily nor salty, just crispy right amount. They have some sodas and juice. The watermelon & strawberry juice is good. I will come back again.

Burger super juicy and gourmet. The meat was definitely fresh and all ingredients that structured this burger. Great place to have a drink enjoy a burger and watch your favorite sports with friends and family. Great service specially when it comes to placing your order.

New favorite burger spot! Had the Nachos, bacon onion burger and fresh fruit drink. Burger was to die for, the sauce is tangy and delicious with the onions cooked perfectly on a toasted bun. Fresh fruit drink was a definite repeat! Our child loved the nachos(no jalapeño). We will definitely be returning

1 single burger , 1 double burger with bacon added, and a watermelon strawberry agua frescas.

1st time trying this spot and everything was very delicious/tasty. Haven't had a burger that tasted this good since I moved here to SD. Meat was very juicy and the bread was grilled with a little crisp on the edges which gave it a great texture! The fries were crispy which I loved. I also enjoyed the Watermelon with strawberry Agua fresca. This place will definitely have much more business coming to them once more people find out of them. Owners were very nice and welcoming. We will be coming back!! Very relaxed ambiance and accessible parking.

Rolled south to Rey Tj Burger's on Main Street in Chula Vista with my sultry shawty yesterday for a couple of the tastiest cheeseburgers around. This outdoor joint provides a friendly welcoming vibe, solid tunes and comfortable seating. Ample parking with an easy walk up to order situation. Relax, take a chair and quickly brought to your table are fresh, savory, juicy hot plates of heaven with all the trimmings. Fresh crispy condiments are well balanced with perfectly crafted patties and topped with abundant cheese between pillowy buns that will cause true burger bliss to rain down upon all your senses. French fries are fire. Sporting a huge watermelon grin, my gorgeous girl devoured her sandwich in short order with sincere gusto....Oh boy, a sure winner without any doubt. Outstanding, efficient, and thoughtful service is provided by team familia Rey which elevates this dining experience to the next level. Special place with a load of love this is. I highly recommend Rey Tj Burger's for locals, visitors or anyone hankering for a satisfying solid meal. Stoner Grub Rank: 9.0

What a wonderful establishment! It truly was the best burger I've ever had.

The food was delicious! Possibly the best burger I've ever had. The service was on point. The vibe was great too. They had music playing and lights strung throughout the patio area. Even down to their "bamboo" plates. I will definitely eat here again when in the area.

One complimentary sauce after forgetting my order and making me wait wouldn't have hurt the restaurant's inventory. Good customer service is about making things right when the restaurant makes a mistake, not arguing over 75 cents. Sacramento, You never know when a customer could be a secret shopper, and based on how this situation was handled, the service would not have met expectations. Very poor customer service from Sacramento someone representing management. A manager should know how to handle situations like this and make things right for the customer. Sadly, there aren't many around anymore, especially down in SD where I now live. Which leads to my review. Considering I haven't had Yosh in about five years, I'm not sure if the critique is of this location or the franchise as a whole but I was sorely disappointed this evening. I drove 20 minutes out of my way to come to this location because I had a hankering for a nostalgic beef bowl and it was the closest to my house. I ordered the xl bowl instead and what you see in the picture is what I got. Not even enough beef to cover the rice and the rice underneath was surprisingly sparse. I don't know if they've cut down on their portions but I got the same amount of meat as a regular bowl back in the day. I should've known when the employee handed me the bag because it was light as a feather. They also didn't give me any sauce or shichimi until I asked (after the employer closed the window on me). When I did, she gave me a ton of shichimi so one star for that. I don't think the picture does justice to how little food there was in the container. Oh well.
