Proof is in the Pudding !!

5/2021, went striped bass night fishing on Sacramento River near Yuba City. When I booked with RH, I didn't read any YELP or Facebook or anything online. I just simply researched fish guide names and called RH. I had a FIREWORKS BLAST yesterday !!! Landed Limits guided by good people Dalton and Roger. Jimmy and Beetle, too !! So I'm saying it here and now: Raith's crew is superior than ALL other Northern California fish guides. Fish On!! Thank you much!!

My son caught his first striper with Raith a few years ago, and just recently he landed a 35lb striper with Raith.

This isn't a destination by any means but if your in the area its worth going ten minutes out of the way to see. Things looked to be in OK condition. It wasn't manicured like a Japanese tea garden but it didn't have trash everywhere either. It's perfect for taking your dog for a walk - and functionally I think that is one of the most important things to be happy in a neighborhood. I like something green and something that isn't concrete. I also am a sucker for something that is obviously man made - and realize that some are high nosed to that sort of thing.

It's no wonder why Marysville is losing its charm. Being at Ellis Lake now in 2023 will just give the feeling of sadness and beyond belief of what is happening. Ellis Lake definitely has potential, but not anymore with how it is being left unmaintained. First off. Pollution: Runoff from fertilizers, contaminated soil and other products has polluted the lake from human and bird feces, poop, pee, drugs, needles, etc... just floating around on the lake. YUCK!!!! Lots off overgrown vegetation beyond the eyes can see. Too many algae blooms. The lake is just beyond nasty and stinky! I highly advise just doing a drive by, but not going for a stroll around Ellis lake if you do want to visit. Either wise, this place isn't worth it to bring your out of state family/friends to visit Marysville. Rather divert going to Folsom Lake. It's that embarrassing for what the city of Marysville has gone to in a not so positive direction. Shame. Shame. Shame. SMH! Okayyyy... bye.

I have hunted with Scott 3 times now…read more The first time I told him to just tell me where to be and what time. We went goose hunting that day and it ended up being a day where we got into the triple digits of birds. Like no hunt I've ever been on and honestly I doubt I'll get to go on a hunt like that again. (I'll be calling Scott next season to try though) The second time was a duck hunt and we were done by 930 with a 4 man limit and 3 speckle bellies. It was actually a slow day and as we were pulling out you could see even more ducks coming in. We just watched them land in the decoys for a few minutes because as a hunter it's about more than just killing birds. You enjoy watching the birds work, the dog work, etc. The third time was great as well. He had a hunt all planned but we threw a curve ball at him and added an extra person last minute. It was happy to accommodate that and made the necessary adjustments for us. We were out until about 11 and ended up with over 20 birds. Geese and ducks. He makes it easy. You show up and kill birds. He takes care of all the details. Watching his dog work is awesome. That thing is a champion for sure. Also he has a really good guy working for him named Nate. Scott did good picking him, really relatable down to earth guy that knows what he is doing. Me and my hunting partners will 100% be setting up some hunts for next year soon. I highly recommend him if you're looking for a waterfowl hunt. No guide can ever promise you that you will kill limits of birds. Simply because no man can control nature. But Scott and Nate will do everything they can to make sure you do. You will experience something not a lot of people get to in the waterfowl hunting world.

He's a true pro and professional in his trade. I've never felt rushed or that me and my fellow hunters weren't the center of his attention. J.S.--I beg to differ with you. I've been on guide trips with Rick Bishop of 3 Rivers Guide…read moreService and have never experienced your description of events nor have my family or friends. Rick is one of the most skilled, knowledgeable guides on the river. He comes well prepared and runs an efficient, clean operation. As anyone who has fished often enough knows there are good days and bad days--that is why it is called FISHING!! It appears to me that you did not listen to Rick's fishing tutorial on the onset of your trip otherwise he would not have had to check your rod all day long. A skilled guide knows what to look for and obviously you were unable to follow instructions therefore Rick merely was doing what a good guide would do--help you out. J.S., you are obviously and inexperienced fisherman and have no business netting a large salmon or determining if the bait was good or not. I certainly would not want you trying to net my salmon. There is a lot of technique involved and the fish have a mind of their own when they get up to the boat. Many are lost in the netting process. Your character assassination of Rick I found childish, over exaggerated and to the point of downright falsehoods. Interesting that you seem to be the only one to have those complaints. I'd like to ask J.S. if his review was a solicited ad for another guide? This review was not the place. If you are so enamored with Scott, write a stellar review for him on his site.

Cici H, Sounds like…read morehe is a personal friend of yours. I only wrote the facts. I've been fishing for over 35 years and am not inexperienced. My other three friends on the trips were just as shocked and we agreed we would never go back to him. They have chartered fishing trips with other guides and have never experienced this type of behavior. Maybe you had a good experience with him and that's great. I only wrote MY experience with him. The excessive smoking, cursing, his explosive behavior, taking us fishing in areas where most of the fish had already past and charging $800.00 was unacceptable. Maybe you think that's okay but not to me. Again, I only wrote the facts while it appears you are defending him. That's okay too. I wish I could have given him the same positive review as you described but unfortunately I could not. I believe in a "Informed Consummer." I would really like to hear from other "true customers" and their fishing experiences with him.
