The Fruita location of Rib City is my new favorite. We have been to the Rifle and Grand Junction locations for many years, but we just moved out to Fruita. The location is excellent in a shopping mall on the south side of I70. The interior decor is up to date and welcoming, but still has the fun signs Rib City's are known for. We were greeted and seated promptly by the server. The server was personable and welcoming as she took our drink orders and explained the lunch specials. There are many specials on the menu, but there are also specials on the table sign and the chalkboard sign as you enter. We always get the fried okra, and it was cooked perfectly as always. They are also serving fried pickles now. We each ordered the lunch special of a Pulled Pork Skyscrapers with 2 sides for $12.99. I got the green beans and fries, and my husband got the mac and cheese and baked beans. The pulled pork was delicious as always mixed with the NC vinegar based sauce and a side of coleslaw that goes on the sandwich. All sides were also good. Service was top notch the entire time. Special notes: whatever the seasonal cheesecake is GET IT! It is homemade and amazing. We got a slice to go, and it was enormous! The flavor this time was blueberry. So, so delicious! They also have a happy hour special on drinks and 1/2 off apps from 2-6 on weekdays. We will be back to this location frequently! read more

We've made it a point to stop here on cross country drives, but sadly won't be back. After being harassed by a table of their patrons for the entirety of our meal, the manager showed little interest. Our server was informed, but nothing was said to these women-even after they threatened to call the police on us for having our dogs in the car with open windows and accessible water. This is some solid barbecue for the price point. It is not going to compare to what you get down south, in West Texas, in KC, etc. It is definitely Colorado bbq. That being said, I am always happy with the quality of the food and portion size given the value and price. The ribs are my go to. It's a chill laidback restaurant with a countryish down home vibe. The service is always friendly and smiling. They have some good specials too. I think the only thing lacking is the type of sides or maybe the quantity of options for sides. read more

Wow we have been coming here since it opened!! We had a larger party and it wasn't the best service that we've had, appetizers were not hot when they came out. We usually go to the North ave location and I know why. Yes is was a to go order but the only thing that was warm were the baked potatoes and side of beans. Rib City is off the main road in Fruita on the way to Colorado National Monument. It is in a small strip mall behind the parking area for the Colorado Welcome Center. They seem to have a pretty steady business both with indoor dining and take out orders. I ordered a turkey dinner with beans and macaroni and cheese. It comes with Texas toast. I really enjoyed the sweet and the hot sauces. The only thing I wish they had was cornbread. I prefer that to a garlicky toast when I eat BBQ. Their baked beans were absolutely amazing. In the past, our food has always been excellent. We picked up and ate at home. The barbecue was mediocre at best. The turkey was kind of dry. The pulled pork was nothing special. The salads were like a side salad from a fast food place. We paid $90.00 for four people to have not very good food that's sad I hope the quality goes back to how it was I the years past. read more

I read the reviews before eating here, but decided to go anyways. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Quick service. Rib meat was small, but good texture, not mushy. Chicken was moist, but bland. No spices at all. Sausage was great. Good snap from the outside, good texture inside, light spiciness. Mac'n cheese was kinda dry but flavorful. Beans tasted burnt, couldn't eat them. I'll go back to try the brisket and pulled pork, but by far the worst thing there was the damn flies! I asked to be moved to another table because it was so bad. I thought the reviews on here were exaggerating about the flies... nope! While on our drive to Houston, we stopped for gas and lunch in Fruita, CO. I used Yelp to find a good BBQ place and Rib City was at the top. I'm glad we stopped here as this place has awesome food and friendly service. Due to the pandemic, we got the food to go. We ordered at the counter and waited outside and the food came quickly. I looked at their awards wall before leaving and was very impressed. On their website they have a lot to say about giving back to the community which is always nice. My wife and I each had the Smoked Beef Brisket sandwich on a ciabatta bun. I had 2 sides with mac n cheese and BBQ baked beans. My wife had only one side (mac n cheese). We loved the food. The brisket was very flavorful and plentiful. The mac n cheese side dish was the best I've had in a really long time. They need to box this stuff up and sell it online or in stores. It was delicious! I wish they had a place like this up in the Puget Sound area. I would go there all the time. Keep it up guys! read more

We popped in here for a late lunch in June heading out of the national monument. Our experience was decidedly mixed. Service was great, the protein (meat) was awesome, but we did not care for the sides. Our green beans and baked beans tasted canned and / or over salty and limp. I'm not sure why they were so bad, but it happened. That didn't deter us from loving the sausage, ribs and pulled pork. Completely got my order wrong. Ordered brisket with Mac and Cheese and got Buffalo wings and fries. Got it delivered and it came in a black box with no holes and it some awful condensation. Was too hungry not to eat it. The fries tasted like an unseasoned unbaked potato with the consistency of chewing gum you would find in the bottom of a school cafeteria table. The Buffalo wings felt and tasted like a badly seasoned tire while making fell like was going to puke after 3 bites. Waste of money and time. More than disappointed. Came in for dinner on a Tuesday night. Google said it was closed and it kinda looked closed but it wasn't. We had the fried okra and shared a rack of baby back ribs. The okra was fresh and delicious. The ribs had a smokey flavor and were very tender. The coleslaw was super yummy!! Wasn't expecting that one. Our waitress was awesome!! Even gave my wife a free beer after pouring the wrong one for a different table. She was very attentive and friendly. Made sure to tip well because she was so great. All that I ordered were fries to go, but their service deserves 5 stars. I was traveling through on I-17 on Sunday, 10/9, and staying across the street. I just needed some fries to go with my sandwich that I had with me at the hotel. I went in to order, and waited up front, and had a pint of beer while I waited. The restaurant was super clean, food from the people at the tables looked delicious, and looked like a great atmosphere. The cashier/hostess was SUPER friendly. As I was leaving, I asked to try the BBQ sauces, so she gave me a soufflé cup of each sauce to try. They were all delicious. I believe her name was Ashlee. I could be wrong. Next time I'm coming through, I'm definitely coming in there for more than just fries. Oh, by the way, the fries were delicious, especially dipped in the BBQ sauces. :-) read more
