I ordered 7lbs of sliced brisket for Easter dinner, we picked it up just before serving nine guests. The brisket came in two separate pans . I opened the 5lb pan first and some of the meat was sliced but a lot of it was all different sizes of chunks and pieces. I was surprised, as the menu specifically stated "sliced unless otherwise specified" I noticed the meat wasn't as moist and tender as I have had from Rib City before. I opened the second pan of brisket and it was in beautiful sliced rows, the meat was tender and moist as I expected. I called the next day and spoke to the manager, Tyler, he took down thorough report/form which the GM instructed him to do and told Tyler told me the General Manager Nick, said he would call me back. A great meal from a wonderful staff with friendly patrons, all enjoying the Olympics on tv. Ribs and brisket were both outstanding. Coleslaw was good too and their steamed green beans were fresh and on point (though they could have used a touch more smoky bacon essence -small complaint). And I do wish those smallest of baby back ribs somehow didn't get so dry... but again, small complaint. And no frightening smoky carcinogen burps afterward, like at a lot of bbq joints these days. Hey. If you're into bbq sauces I would really suggest mixing this up: mostly sweet with a little tangy and a little spicy. It's perfection! Leave out the mustard sauce. January 25, 2023 This was my second visit to Rib City and I really Love this place. It's in a very unassuming location in a strip mall but it is a great place to catch some good BBQ. I was in town 2 years ago and went to Rib City for dinner one night. I thought it was fantastic! So on my first night back in town I decided to hit it again. There was 5 of us and we were seated within just a couple minutes. Heather was our server and was such a delight. Funny and very personable. We ordered 2 orders of the Fried Okra, which was delicious. The Spicy Ranch needed a little more kick though. I got a full rack of Baby Back Ribs and a 1/4 Chicken with 2 sides of Macaroni and Cheese and Texas Toast for my entree, and I was thoroughly satisfied with everything. The meats were juicy, very tender and full of flavor, and the Spicy BBQ Sauce was a perfect complement. The Mac and Cheese was scrumptious, creamy and cheesy. having lived in two of the USA's premium food markets (San Francisco - Chicago) I hesitantly approached ordering BBQ ribs from a strip mall location with a 4+ star rating. Either this is a really fine depository of rib excellence or the owner has a large family who can post positive reviews. As I pulled into the parking lot - wafts of odorous bbq essense permiented the surroundings. Exiting the car I was greeted by a nondescript entry to the restaurant. On first glance about half of the booths were filled with patrons enjoying large portions of bbq. The place was clean and simply appointed lending to the notion that this was a serious place for eating - not some overly ornate palace that boistered the ego of the owner. After a short wait for the two meals my wife and I were to enjoy at home - I received my meals tightly bundled in a plastic bag - no need to check on the contents - these folks definitely had it going on! Upon arriving home I opened the foam container to what I had hoped for - two nicely portions of baby back ribs and 1/4 chicken .. along with a baked potato and corn on the cob. I tend to consider myself somewhat of a brisket connoisseur. Every time we go to a bbq restaurant I always get brisket. Never in all my years of bbq consumption have I had a brisket as tender and flavorful as this one. My fork slid right through it and it had a beautiful layer of fat to go with every bite. The bbq sauces provided were also excellent. To top it all off our server was incredibly friendly and treated us like old friends. The whole place has a backyard bbq kind of feel. I'm in Grand Junction, CO and decided to see if I could find something good to eat. The reviews here looked good (and I love BBQ - who am I kidding, I love all food), so I decided to give it a try. I drove over to the place, its a little place in a bit of a run down shopping center. I went inside and the hostess behind the counter was very friendly and helpful as she took my order. I asked her for a recommendation and she told me that they were known for their baby back ribs. Based on that recommendation and reviews online I ordered the whole rack of baby back ribs along with a side of southern green beans and coleslaw. The food came out nice and warm and smelled up the car as I drove them back to the hotel. Typically when I buy ribs to cook at home I get them from Costco and they seem to be very large and meaty. These were somewhat meaty, but small. It was a good thing I ordered the entire rack. Fingers and teeth were all that was necessary to eat these ribs. The meat still had a little bite to it, so I could bite into it and it would separate from the bone, but didn't fall completely off the bone. They were cooked to perfection. They didn't need sauce, but I tasted both their hot and tangy sauces. They were both really good. The hot sauce wasn't too hot, but the tangy sauce was pretty tangy, which I really liked. It had a vinegary bite to it that I thought made it really good. For a change I preferred something that wasn't the "hot" sauce. I could have eaten the ribs without the sauce, but I thought the tangy sauce was really a game changer. I even dipped the bread into it. The coleslaw was pretty good. Nothing to write home about. To be honest, I prefer more of a vinegary coleslaw - like Wood Ranch's Peanut Coleslaw (ugh - amazing). The Southern Green Beans were pretty good too. Had good flavor and weren't overcooked. Id recommend this place. The food was good, the staff was friendly and helpful, the portion sizes were decent and the prices were reasonable. Great job guys!! read more

After spending a fantastic day exploring Colorado National Monument, (spectacular scenery - I highly recommend!!) I worked up quite an appetite and decided to try out some hearty BBQ here at Rib City Grill in Grand Junction, Colorado. Rib City is located right in town of Grand Junction in a small plaza space connected beside other commercial businesses. I walked in on a random Monday evening during the springtime of this year and was greeted and seated right away. I'd say the restaurant was about less than halfway full. The whole vibe here was pretty casual. Nothing upscale whatsoever. There are booths situated alongside the wall on the outer section of the restaurant as well as tables and chairs in the middle area. The menu was pretty straight forward. Just straight up BBQ....no frills...a simple, blue collar place where anyone can come and sit down at. Getting into the menu a little...besides a couple of starter appetizers, it mostly consists of different combinations of BBQ sandwiches along with full dinners for heartier appetites including baby back ribs. To name a few of their classic sandwiches, they're called "Skyscrapers"....jumbo sandwiches blended full of either BBQ sliced beef, pork or turkey all prepared in different fashions. They're accompanied with 2 side items. I chose "The Original Skyscraper" with pulled pork, sliced thin and served on garlic toast. My 2 sides were mac and cheese and coleslaw. Within 10 minutes of ordering, my meal came out to me. This was exactly what I was hoping for as I was pretty famished from hiking and witnessing all the superb vistas at Colorado NM. The pulled pork was simply delicious. The meat was soft and tender and I added plenty of sweet BBQ sauce to it. The garlic toast was fresh and fluffy as a sandwich bun. Finally, the mac and cheese and coleslaw both complimented the sandwich very well. It was the ideal meal for me...just what I was craving after a fulfilling day! They do have a Combos Section consisting of any 2 BBQ creations like...1/2 Rack of Ribs and 1/4 Chicken, 1/4 Bbq Beef and 1/4 Smoked Turkey, 1/4 Sliced Pork and 1/4 Pulled Pork. You choose any 2 helpings for $14.99...or any 3 helpings for $16.99. They also feature other Rib and Rib combos as well as fried shrimp, and a shrimp and ribs duo. All entrees are similarly served with garlic toast and 2 signature sides. To name a few sides, there was...coleslaw, mac and cheese, French fries, corn cobette, BBQ beans, potato salad, baked potato after 4pm, applesauce, green beans and sliced tomatoes. Rib City Grill absolutely met my expectations for homemade and authentic BBQ. For anyone visiting Grand Junction, absolutely take the time to explore Colorado National Monument and then satisfy your hunger here at Rib City by the end of the day. There's also plenty of affordable hotel accommodations in and around Grand Junction where you can spend the evening before continuing on with your journey the following day. Service was good and food was standard bbq! We enjoyed the 2 meat combo and I got the sausage and ribs. Both were on the well done side of things and on the smaller side of the spectrum.
