They ran out of all beef items at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. Disappointed with no beef options, we chose fish and chicken sandwiches. Had to wait another 10 minutes on top of the agreed-upon pickup time. Fish was crispy but incredibly bland - I used the entire tartar sauce container and it was ok. The hoagie bun was prepped to perfection, tho. Grilled chicken did not have any flavor besides the bbq sauce that was poured on top of it. Some spots were bland since the sauce didn't make it's way over to it. Overall we will be skipping this place in the future. read more

All the negative comments were right I should've paid attention but it was so close to the hotel it was just easy. Three chicken strips for $10 which were dried up and very small. Very hard to understand the negative reviews for this place. Our visit a couple of nights ago were so good we came back for lunch the next day. Ohhhh, the baby back ribs were fantastic and the wife's seafood combo was true hand breaded excellent fish and shrimp. The next day back to the baby backs and pulled pork.....Wow...if we lived close it would be to go at least twice a week for us. They have 4 sauces on the table to use if you wish. Excellent!!!! Bailey the night server and Heather the day server both gave us good advice and friendly service as good as it gets. Nice 1 buck draft beer on Wednesday night with a 3 glass limit (perfect) and scrumptious carrot cake to take back to the hotel room for dessert...two of us could hardly eat all of it. Excellent! My bf and I stopped by after a full day of hiking and are so glad we did! The service was super friendly and attentive and the food was comforting, hearty and abundant. He had the brisket which was tender and juicy, I had the ribs which were a great texture. I was pleased with the 5 kinds of bbq sauce and variety of sides - go for the potato salad! During COVID-19 quarantine we try to order out locally at least 1 a week. It was Rib City's turn and they dropped the ball. Order food, 20min later went to pick it up. Waited in parking lot as instructed, 20min go by, then 30min so wife goes in. They tell her "they lost the ticket" she hears the cook say "we already sent it out". Manager still "we lost the ticket" dude, don't lie. Just be honest. Anyway, wife was nice enough to give them the order again. So waited until that was done. No discount or anything. Went here with the family. We were seated immediately and the waitress brought our drinks quickly. She was great at refilling beers, but we had to ask every time we needed a water refill. No big deal, as she did have other tables and was a delight. Food took a bit long to come out. Granted, there were six of us, but everyone seemed to agree that we should have gotten an appetizer or something to take the edge off during the wait. The food itself was delicious. The green beans were buttery, the baked beans tasted like brown sugar (awesome!), and the Texas toast was great. The meats were well-cooked, but a bit dry. A good price for ribs and BBQ. I ordered just ribs (3 racks) and beef brisket. When I go to a BBQ place I don't care to eat bread, potato, beans, etc. A good BBQ place will be happy to show you their smokers and that is just what they did when I asked. Out in the back is a smoker that runs on gas an wood. I guess the gas is used to start the fire and the wood provides the smoked flavor. read more

Lost 1 star for running out of baked potatoes at 630pm. Lost 1 star for small portions. Lost 1 star for mediocre food. Honestly the only good thing about this place was great ribs and 8$ fat tire pitcher. Otherwise if your hungry expect to pay 15-20 per person.... And only get the ribs. The sides you get with the meals are small and tasted / looked like they came right out of the can. Unfortunately there's not much for food joints in this town. We've been in Fruita for a while and hadn't managed to try this place, which might be due to our aversion to places in strip malls. The staff was super friendly and cheerful. We both had ribs. They are not quite the "fall from the bone" ribs mentioned on the menu, but it's not like you needed a knife and fork, either. I found them quite tasty and we'll come back again. I wasn't a fan of the onion rings, though. Next time, I'll just get something else. It's a solid choice if you are in the mood for BBQ. read more

Recommended by a friend. Excellent service but I wonder if our waitress is trained to say, "perfect" at the end of every sentence? It gets old since the word is not being used properly. As for the food, I ordered the combo of baby back ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were good but nothing to write home about. The pulled pork had excellent flavor and well worth coming back and trying again. My wife got the beef brisket which was a bit on the dry side. We stopped by Rib City as we were traveling through Fruita. We were burned out on fast food and I'm GF so we thought it would be a good option. The staff was really friendly. The kids got grilled cheese sandwiches and I got a pulled pork plate. The meat was really moist and flavorful and surprisingly easy to eat while driving. ;) It was so nice to have some real food on the road! What pushed this over the top for a 5 star review was what happened after we got home. We later realized both my kids were missing their brand new glasses and this was the last place we remembered seeing them. I called right away and they had them. We live over 4 hours away and so I asked if there was any way they could mail them. Not only did they happily send them, but they did it the very next morning. They were so helpful and saved this mom a ton of aggravation and money. We'll be making this our regular lunch stop when traveling to and from Utah! read more

I had a strong craving for BBQ and drove out to Fruita from Grand Junction (13miles) to have some delicious Q. Not so much. Actually, not at all. To start with, I split a "Skyscraper" sandwich which was supposed to be 1/2 pound of bbq beef served on garlic bread (swapped the slaw and fries for 2 baked potatoes). Well, the beef didn't taste like smoked or barbecued at all, so much so that my partner and I wondered if they got it out of a packet from the deli at City Market. The baked potatoes were very dry and I wondered if they had been roasting since the day before. The garlic bread tasted like they had made it with margarine.... ick.... i didn't think margarine still existed, obviously it does here. The sauces that are available on the table were pretty average. My partner asked for a spicy one which apparently had Tabasco and cayenne in it, but it was pretty bland as well. After the sandwich, we had planned on ordering some ribs, but after being not impressed by the sandwich we decided to leave. Also, the waiter was really creepy. The best brisket I have had in a while. I considere myself a pretty good cook of brisket and this just melted in your mouth. The seasoning was spot on. I had the mac and cheese and it was just like i make, creamy goodness. Had the dirty Hippie beer and it was fantastic. My husband had the ribs and they melted off the bone when touched. Decided to give Rib City one last chance at the Fruita location and was very pleased with the outcome, they won back a customer and our business will be at this location only. The food was about 4 stars, but I gave it 5 stars because the service was amazing. We ordered chicken and pork, and started off with some onion rings. Anna, our waitress, went above and beyond making sure we were cared for. Even brought us extra onion rings upon finding out how much my husband loved them. She kept the table cleared and our glasses full. We never felt rushed at any point or like we were a burden. The food was great, the smoked chicken tastes like it was fresh off the smoker. The pork and beef had beautiful pink lines and a nice crust. The fries and onion rings were perfect, and the salad was above par with homemade croutons. The service was amazing, Adrianna Blea our server was amazing so nice and made recommendations for a Delicious appetizer, fried green beans with spicy ranch. Those were amazing. We ordered the feast for 2. The chicken was great the pork delicious and the beef tender. We had so much left over that we took a tone home. This restaurant is clean nice service is amazing.
