My wife and I stopped here on our way through town because we recognize the name of the restaurant from Denver. I ordered pulled pork and coleslaw. I'm gluten-free so they did not have gluten-free bread so I just had a plate with what turned out to be cold, tasteless pork, and really boring coleslaw. I paid five dollars for a specialty lemonade and it was terrible. My wife is not gluten-free and had a chicken sandwich and it was tasteless. As I told my server, we won't be back. This restaurant is not good for gluten-free people as all of their sauces have gluten. read more

"Excellent service, great food -- made our family gathering so much easier!" We used Famous Dave's in Grand Junction to cater a family funeral gathering for 24 people, and I couldn't be happier with how it went. From the start, the staff was very helpful and made sure I got the best value for what we needed. They suggested ordering by the pound instead of per person, which saved us money and still gave everyone plenty of food. I gave them the headcount and chose the items we wanted, and they handled the rest. When I arrived to pick up the order, everything was ready on time, neatly packed, and hot. The food was a big hit -- everyone loved it, and it was a real crowd pleaser at an emotional and busy time for our family. You close at 8pm? Is this the new Golden Corrall, only serving people over 65 that get up at 5:30am and are in bed by 8:15 pm? Most people aren't even off work until 5, figure 5:30 to arrive, maybe 6:00 if they have to run home and pick up the family. That leaves a huge portion of your potential patrons only a 2 hour window? What happened to restaurants staying open till at least 10pm? This just seems lazy to me. read more

I just went to famous Dave's tonight with my family, thinking I would have a great time and a great experience. But I was very wrong, as soon as we got seated, the waitress was absolutely disgustingly rude. And on top of that, we waited forever for our food and got horrible service with our drinks, once we got our food out which costed us about $70. It was absolutely ice cold and I asked another waitress if she could warm it up and then she tried ringing me up for a whole new dish, for anybody that passes through Grand Junction, Colorado or that lives there please stay away from this disgusting restaurant. With the exception of my server, everything else was disappointing. I ordered an app and a 3 meat plate. Within minutes (4-5?) they both arrived. Why get an app if it's going to come with your meal. The app was cheese curds and they were alright. The meal was Luke warm to cold and tasted very dried out. Actually it tasted reheated from the day prior (that's what I get for coming after they open). The ribs were like jerky loaded with bone and cartilage. It was so tough and dried out, it cut up the top of my mouth like captain crunch cereal. Something else I noticed was there was not any potato salad on the menu. It's kind of a bbq staple. When I order spicy stuff, I like to scoop with the potato salad to contrast the flavors. They do have coleslaw, but that's it for cold sides. On a side note, they weren't warm (nothing was), but the baked beans were actually decent. We used to have a famous Dave's in my town. It's gone and now I'm reminded of probably why it left. I just expected more I guess. Coming here for bbq is like going to Applebees for a steak. It might not suck, but that's about the best you can hope for. read more

I had lunch at the Famous Dave's in Grand Junction Colorado today. This was the worst meal that I have eaten in 15 years. The meat was dry and full of gristle. The corn cob sides were so mushy that I could barley get the corn off the cobb. There were only 2 other couples in the restaurant at lunch time and the service was horrendous. We waited in an empty dining room to place an order for 15 minutes. When we finally did get our food the waitress didn't check back. We then waited 15 minutes after eating for our bill and finally had to go to the kitchen to ask for it. We almost walked out it was so terrible. The cornbread muffin was the only good part of this terrible experience. read more

Service was good but I dislike being asked for a tip on a takeaway order. Ribs were good but very small. Sides were the red skinned mashed and Mac and cheese, both were good but again pretty small for the price paid. I think I would try other options before returning. read more

Trash. Not only were there three dirty tables in the bar or the ranch spilled on the floor by the bathrooms but the service. All were trash. Fresh BBQ is what I love, now it seems that Famous Dave's has decided that microwaving the meats is good and my family doesn't love this. We went to Famous Dave's for lunch today. We are gluten free so we liked the idea of just ordering meat & a couple of sides. My husband ordered the beef brisket & come to find out that all of the BBQ sauces are not Gluten free, however they did have 1 in back that was OK, so they served the sauce on the side. The portion of beef brisket was about 6 small slices (not very much). I wanted sliced chicken but they just had either half roasted chicken or pulled chicken in BBQ sauce so the waitress said they could serve the pulled chicken without the BBQ sauce & bring a cup of the GF sauce as well. I ordered 2 portions of chicken & 2 sides...garlic mashed potatoes & corn. My husband ordered the mashed potatoes @ coleslaw. Got our food...meat on both was not hot, potatoes not warm, corn on the cob was hot (had to ask for butter). My "double portion of chicken would barely be enough to make a decent sandwich! Just pieces of dark meat shaved off! Very disappointing! The waitress was nice, but? The brisket was $18.50 for a small portion & my chicken was $13.50 I get that it is sometimes hard to accommodate gluten free folks but we really didn't stray from what a regular non GF person would eat, so? Tried Famous Dave's for the first time ever and got food poisoning. The waitress was an absolute sweetheart and did a fantastic job, but sweet Jesus I feel like a dumpster fire after eating here. My husband suggested improper storage temps for meat, but I was skeptical. I checked out the health department's website to find the most recent inspection report and it listed improper storage temps for chicken and ribs, which happened to be what we had. We only get takeout here. Often, we have to wait, as the desk doesn't have someone there, and you have to get someone's attention to be served. I rarely see anyone in the dining room, making me wonder about the quality of the service. However, their ribs are pretty good. But man oh man did my husband ABSOLUTELY HATE his BBQ to the point that he spit it out and did not TOUCH the rest of his food. How sad. Stopped on our way west for a quick lunch. Everything was generally ok but my wife wasn't so happy with the Sassy Salad, she said she had some salad in a different Famous Dave's and it was better but she wasn't sure what it was. My food wasn't bad at all, I got a lunch combo with 2 meats and no complaints there. I haven't been to a Famous Dave's in a while, but seems like prices have gone up a little if I remember correctly. I still think that the value is good though. I'd give this place 3.5 stars but since this option is not available I went with 3 because I don't see it as a 4 star restaurant. I saw in other reviews here that some people say the food is inedible, personally for me the food was not only edible, but also pretty tasty so not sure what happened in those other cases. read more

Terrible. BBQ awful. Dry, overcooked, nothing special. In addition, I ordered the 3 meat lunch plate. Waiter didn't inform me when I ordered the 2 accompanying sides (so I thought). Lunch should have been under $15 before tax. Bill was ~$22. When asked why and then asked if they could take the 2nd side charge off (tiny serving of slaw), the response was "No, you ate it." I get it-- I did order 2 sides thinking they were both included. Waiter would not remove the $5 extra for a few table spoons of second rate slaw. What happened to taking care of the customer? So Yelp is saying hi easy due to covid. I'm not sure what going on in this location but the food and service were both very poor. I had brisket and I don't even think it was real. It looked like some fake pressed lunch meat. The server couldn't get back to our table so others seeing the neglect tried to help but I could see that person frequently stopped and chatting with a table probably of friends. I'm ok with server having bad day, but whatever they are calling brisket isn't meat. Stay away from it. read more

First of all, the thing that stood out most to me at Famous Dave's was the service! Our waiter was a riot. He had every table laughing and was awesome! The food was also delicious! I wasn't in the mood for ribs so I stuck with the chicken tender meal for the night. I got seven huge strips! So much food. I also got to choose from two sides so I went with the potato salad and mashed potatoes. I'm a sucker for sides and these were the star of the show! They were so delicious! Even my friend couldn't stop sneaking bites of my potato salad! They put all the bbq sauces on the table but my favorite is the rich and sassy. I'm more of a mild sauce kind of person. We went last night around 5:00 there were two people waiting for a takeout order and another couple waiting to be seated, no employees present. After about 10 minutes of being ignored the waiting couple said we have been standing here for 20 minutes and left. About 5 minutes later a waitress? Came out to the lobby, we said the others left. She said in a surly manner we are short a waitress there will be a 20 minute wait we said take the next customer and we will decide she told them a 25 minute wait and left. First time visiting this location. I am aware that with Covid dinner at a restaurant is totally different but here it didnt seem to make sense. You walk in, no real menus to read from. As a person with food allergies it is important for me to know what is in the food I am ordering (we ended up just looking at their online menu) After you decide what you want you order at the bar then take a number and choose your own seat. Someone came over and set down napkins and didn't say a word. We were brought our food and were even more disappointed. After spending $18.99 on a half rack of ribs that was so burned it was almost inedible. I am less disappointed in the lack of service we received and more about the fact we spent $50.00 on a dinner that left us hungry and ordering takout when we got home. read more
