Don't let the non-fancy interior fool you. Our party of 23 had reservations for a 50th bday celebration at Kendo a hibachi restaurant. After a extended wait, we were finally seated. After about 30 min a waitress came to take our drinks; however it would be an hour wAit until our chef would be available. A large party was just exiting past us. It had been over 2 hrs they'd waited and no food. We left as well. We called Rib City. Who by the way was set to close in like 45 min but instead said come on - we'll put together the tables. Walked in to a long set of tables. Menus, tableware and people happy to see us. Emily was our waitress who did a fantastic job at taking all our drink and food orders. BABYBACKS FALLL OFF THE BONE! We've been going to Rib City since we moved down from BBQ Heaven, Greenwood, South Carolina. Always ordering the full rack with beans and slaw. 8/31/2019 Update: Staff here are still very friendly and efficient. Our dinner orders were delivered to our table in a reasonable time and were reasonably warm. Side dishes were well cooked. That said, the baby back ribs were the tiniest we've ever seen anywhere. Because we'd each ordered whole racks, we had expected to take half of our dinners home for enjoying the next day, but the very dry ribs were too small to have much meat, so we had no trouble finishing them in the restaurant. While Rib City is a comfortable enough place to have dinner, the tiny size of the ribs makes it unlikely we will come here again unless we have a really good coupon to reduce the high price of our meals. read more

I have been to this location 3 times and even though the staff has been very nice I find the food to be average at best. I tried the ribs...dry...and the chicken...also dry. I was not a fan of the bbq baked beans either...just my opinion. If you cant to ribs and chicken that is not dry then it seems it is being made and sits around waiting to be heated up and slathered with sauce. I don't know for sure but three visits and dry each time. I won't be returning but go and try to for yourself and be your own judge. read more

Drab interiors, food is typical rib joint fare - at best. The slaw was way too sweet, the chicken on the dry side. You have to ask for water. I know that a rib place is not known for its health food, but they could at least try with a salad option and less sugar in the souses. read more

Stopped in for a quick take out dinner. I walked in just after 8:30 on a Sunday, when many other places were closed or closing. We wanted to have something quick to take back home, since we were out past dinnertime. I asked about quick food, and was told everything is pretty quick. So, a shrimp salad and onion rings were our dinner. We waited about 20 minutes for our food, which was excessive for fried food and lettuce! The fried shrimp and onion rings were nearly cold, though it did take almost 15 minutes to drive home, crack open the packages and start eating, so this isn't a great measure. The lettuce was extremely limp, again possibly for being in with the shrimp for nearly 15 minutes. Flavors were nothing special, and the food did taste like it may have been ready quite a bit before picking it up. We may come back for the ribs or other BBQ some time, but do not recommend the fried foods, especially for take out. read more

I went with a group of six for probably the fifth time in the last two years. As always the food was great. The ribs were tender and not overly smothered with sauce. They have a variety of bbq sauces on the table if you want to add to them. The highlight of the meal was the okra. It was breaded and fried to perfection. It comes with a ranch dipping sauce that adds the right touch. If you like spicy food ask for the ranch and buffalo sauce. It's not too spicy, but it's delicious! The service was great-really polite and sweet ladies. The price was great too. Our bill was about $80 for a group of six. I would highly recommend it! read more

We don't eat beef or pork, so Rib City was not high on our list of places to try. We did though and are so glad. Their turkey is amazing and their chicken tenders are also very unique and good. Been going to Rib City a few years now. The last two times we've been the service has been poor and the food has gone downhill. Today the ribs were over cooked and the sauce burnt. The beans looked like they were rushed and not cooked long enough to thicken up. The chicken while better than the ribs was also slightly over cooked. The place was dead for lunch. Love this place! Has the best baby back ribs in Florida. I always get the Tony's Combo. You get a Full slab, two sides, and 1/4 pound of pulled pork, or sliced beef. I get extra garlic bread, meal comes with one, so I can make a sandwich out of the sliced beef (tender and delicious) I would eat here every week, but my Dr forbids it, ha ha. Restaurant is a little hard to spot in the Publix shopping center, and parking is sometimes a challenge but the great staff and terrific food is worth it. read more

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A FEW YEARS MAKE!!!! I do believe this place must have changed owners, because the ribs are not anywhere near the great ones they used to be. Dry and overcooked - So I had made a take-out order for 2 full slabs, with one of them having FRENCH FRIES AND SLICED TOMATOES as the 2 sides, the other order had BAKED POTATO AND CORN ON THE COB. Since I live quite a few miles away, imagine my horror at finding out at home that NEITHER ORDER HAD ANY POTATOES in it!!!!! And that corn on the cob???/ How does HALF A CORN sound? They should really mention that on their menu. I called up to complain and the girl apologized, and asked if I wanted to come back to pick them up. When I told her I lived too far, she again apologized, but I was not a happy camper, let me tell you. To make matter worse, the ribs as I mentioned before were overcooked and dry. Just got home from here and due to my desire to write this prompt of a review I think everyone reading this could gather that this place is AWESOME! The ribs fell off the bone as expected and their array of sauces are great. Homemade baked beans and homemade coleslaw. Mmm mmm good mmm mmm good, thank you rib city that was mmm mmm good! On a side note our waitress michelle was extra pleasant. And on Wed they have 25 cent beers. A real mug of beer too! Not some tiny little plastic circus cup. Edit: I updated my review to give Rib City 5 instead of 4 stars. For a strip mall eatery I was very impressed with what Rib City offered. The first night we dined here I would give the service 5 stars, the food 3.5. The second night I would give the service 3.5/4 and the food 5 so I settled on a score of 4 overall. The decor is dated, the aroma is sweet BBQ smoke, the seating, comfortable. No problems with that. I recall the music being a confusing mix, but not in a bad way. Both times we were seated very promptly and offered drinks immediately and brought very quickly. The first visit I ordered draft beer by the glass but realized that the pitcher is a much better deal, and even leaving beer behind I still came ahead with the pitcher. The first night we visited the waitress was VERY accommodating to our 21 month old boy. The second night the waitress was accommodating as well but not to the extent of the first waitress. I'd chalk up the slight difference in service to how busy it was on the two different nights, but not to take away from how well the first waitress served us even if she was not busy. I wish I could recall both of their names as they should be given the positive feedback. OK, so the food. The first night I ordered a full rack of ribs with beans and half a corn on the cob as my sides. I recall this meal was either $19.99 or $16.99, either way, a steal of a deal. The ribs were really good! So tender, fall off the bone but not sloppy fall off the bone, which is bad. They could stand being picked up but gives into a bite if you know what I mean. The beans were terrific, every bean tender but not a mushy mess. The sauce was a perfect consistency. I added some of the hot BBQ sauce to the beans and also coated my ribs with a mix of the original and hot sauce - I highly suggest this mix but try them all out. The second night I ordered a special that was ribs another meat and two sides. I think this was somewhere around the same price range as the first night. I picked beef as my side, so juicy and tender! I used the same BBQ mix as the previous night on the ribs and the beef. The difference between this night and the previous night is that the ribs were absolutely perfect. I have made ribs countless times at home and consider myself a great BBQ cook. I've never made them this good, ever. So yeah, if you're looking for great prices on some darn good BBQ, in a funny location, check out Rib City in Venice. read more

Went here tonight for the first time. We had a rack of baby back ribs and a salad. The ribs were pretty good (mine are better lol). The best part of the experience was the service. Kimberly was awesome! I had a Diet Coke and had taken the lemon from my wife's iced tea and when she brought a refill she added lemon.
