I liked it. Simple interior with a few tables for seating. There's also a few tables in front for outdoor seating. I like their rice balls/onigiris and hand rolls. I'd say you'll want to order at least 3 rice balls or 5 hand rolls if you want to make a meal out of it. Anything less kinda feels more like a snack. Can definitely recommend the spicy tuna mayo rice ball and spam & egg musubi. Will be coming back to try more. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's street parking or a small lot behind the building.

Convenient, fast, high quality, good size, good ratio of filling to rice, and a filling meal.

Parking so much better at this location than the other one I went to before (south pasadena?) pricing is still the same and place still as small Food did not disappoint again. Service was fast. Can't complain now that it is closer to my workplace!

    Salmon yuzu miso onigiri

Small place selling onigiri, hand rolls, and more. Their onigiris are nice and soft - the rice is so warm and buttery! I've tried the salmon yuzu miso onigiri and it's fantastic. A little salty at first, but it's great. The miso eggplant one was a little disappointing because there wasn't much filling but might just be a one off. It definitely tasted more bland than the salmon yuzu miso but probably cuz the filling was disproportionate to the rice. I also had some cucumber salad and that thing was absolutely not worth the $5 so I'll stick to the onigiris and maybe try hand rolls next time. It was like half a cucumber or maybe one of those small Persian cucumbers drowned in soy sauce so it was really salty and then maybe some vinegar and chili oil.

Love Rice and Nori ! This location has a lot more indoor seating and more airy. There are a few seats outside . The service is quick and attentive . The food is fresh and delicious as always . I think they have a better snack selection at this location than the one in La Canada.

Spicy tuna. Avocado bacon. Beef. Mushroom. Shrimp.

Rice and Nori is pretty good. It is a good amount of rice and stuffing. The service is great. Explained all their popular items. I got a total of 5. I enjoyed all of them. The beef one is really filling. The one I liked the least was the spicy tuna. I thought it was gonna be poke style tuna but it was like tuna melt tuna. The vibe is casual so really easy to come for lunch. Parking is okay with street parking. Overall: Will return for onigiri.

I've been wanting to try rice and Nori and the opportunity presented itself last week. I have really been getting into hand lately, especially with the new Kazunori that just opened up in Pasadena. I decided to try this place as well so I can compare the handles. Overall, the hand rolls were good and the price is affordable. I chose the 300 set which comes with sashimi and edamame as well and it came out to $23 after taxes. It's a good affordable light lunch or dinner when you're craving something seafood, but not too heavy. Also important to know that there is plenty of free parking located on union and when I went there, there was nobody else so there was no wait time!

Newer location than the one in South Pasadena, took over a burrito place. Parking lot in back and street parking on Union. The onigiri were very good, I got the krab salad and tuna salad. The rice was excellent and plenty of filling. They also have egg and spam musubis, also very good. A good place for lunch and pretty cheap compared to most places these days.

This was a great pick me up for lunch very quick service. Was very happy to see vegetarian options on the menu with their eggplant Onigiri, as well as their sour plum, which is a unique taste, but I love it.

    Joanne K.

Overall pretty good and the price is reasonable. I found the rice of the spam musubi to be somewhat bland, but the flavors of the nori fillings were on point. Very clean and simple decor inside as well. Def a good spot of a lil date

Rice & Nori is always a solid choice. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. I got the spam Musubi without egg and the spicy tuna hand roll. Service was excellent and the ambience was nice and clean.

    Lots of rice. Little salmon.

Usually come here and order and have no issues, until today! I went and ordered two salmon yuzu rice balls and asked for extra ginger like I always do. The guy who appeared to be new gave me my total and I waited. When my food was finished he asked if I needed a bag and I said no, but asked for the ginger because he seemed to had forgotten. He then gives me one (their ginger cups are tiny) and I asked him for another. He then proceeds to tell me that I can only have one and that additional is an extra charge. I told him that when I ordered I specifically told him that I wanted extra ginger, so if it was extra that would have been the time to say that. I told him that I've never had an issue with receiving extra ginger. He then tells me it's a new policy. I told him no problem, I'd like a refund for my food, I don't want it. He stood there looking puzzled. I said if I can't get what I ordered I don't want anything. Then the chef guy handed me another ginger. I should not have had to stand there and go back and forth about that TINY ginger cup! Businesses can charge for what they want to charge for but understand that customers can refuse to pay for the extras. I personally think it's absurd to charge extra for those tiny cups and that just me! Also, paying $4 and change for literally just rice is crazy! I was disappointed in the salmon to rice ratio. Guess I'll be retiring Rice & Nori for myself.

My friend and I came to KazuNori for Saturday lunch right when they opened at 11:30. Only one other group was there at opening, but it gradually got busier over the course of lunch. As is standard for handroll places, seating is all counter seating so that you can watch the chefs make and place each piece in front of you. I don't recommend coming here with more than 2 others, as conversation can be difficult due to the seating arrangement. I went with the 6 hand roll set for $29, which offers toro, yellowtail, salmon, bay scallop, crab, and lobster. Everything was good, and my favorites were the scallop, crab, and lobster. You can ask for less rice in each roll if you aren't super hungry or have a smaller stomach. They make everything easy when it comes to paying the bill by charging an automatic 16% fee, so you don't need to fill in the tip. I think that's fair given that each handroll is personally made for you by the chef.

There are a number of small boutique stores located here. This Japanese restaurant was a great find when I was out walking. I was actually going to pick up some food at another place. I read some of the reviews to get an idea of what to expect and was pleased to find that the food here is very good. This is a takeout only restaurant. They cater and also Chef Maezaki teaches sushi techniques in the surrounding area. I entered the front door and walked to the large counter. I was greeted with a smile and a friendly hello. I asked a number of questions and realized that I must be talking to Chef Maezakl. He showed me the menu. He also showed me specials that they were offering. After taking some time I decided to order the special wagyu beef entree, and a spicy tuna hand roll. I sat down in one of the chairs available and waited. I could smell great aromas from the food being prepared in the kitchen. I was happy when my food arrived about 15 minutes later. I could sense his pride in what he had prepared for me. I enjoyed the complete dinner that was the wagyu beef entree. There was rice, pickled cucumber, California roll sushi, a special piece of fried chicken, and chicken gyoza. It came in a perfectly packed & arranged container, ready to eat. I'm happy to say the taste translated to a great experience in dining. The marinated beef was tender and flavorful. The chicken was moist tender with a crisp exterior. The cucumber salad was bright and refreshing. The fresh sushi was a nice touch. I went back another time to try the cold chicken ramen, a three piece chicken appetizer, and the tiramisu. I was happy with the fresh flavor of the vegetables in the ramen. It was a nice change. All I can say about the tiramisu is that it has an addicting flavor! I can't wait to have it again. It's nice that the parking lot accommodates all the small boutique businesses. There has always been plenty of parking when I was there. This shopping area with its boutique stores is a good find. I look forward to my experience at CM Ghost Kitchen.

Overall hits the spot for sushi fix. The only drawback is it's priced the same as restaurants which would have served two pieces of each fish plus uni and ikura etc. Although I will say I was pleasantly surprised at the tiny squeeze bottle sauces provided and that it tasted homemade (ponzu, yuzu, unagi sauce). May order again if there's a deal.

I've been wanting to try Tendon Tempura Carlos Jr. for a while since their original location is in Torrance. I'm really glad they opened a Pasadena location because we're lucky to have one here in the 626 now. Parking was easy since there are spots right in front of the restaurant, but they are metered and cost $2 per hour. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the staff. Since the weather was nice, we decided to sit out on the patio, which was cool and comfortable. To start, we ordered the fried tempura mozzarella sticks ($5.99), onion kakiage ($2.99), and edamame corn kakiage ($5.99). Everything was delicious, but the mozzarella sticks were the clear favorite. They were fried perfectly with an amazing cheese pull and plenty of cheesy flavor. We decided to share all of our entrees family style. For my son, we ordered the plain hot udon, which was simple and perfect for him. For the rest of us, we ordered the Premium Tempura Bowl ($32.97) and added ikura ($4.98), the cold soba with dipping sauce and tempura ($19.99), and Carlos's Jewel Box ($31.99), which came with chopped salmon, toro, yellowtail, and popcorn shrimp over rice. We also added extra toro for $8. On top of that, we ordered a side of five slices of chu-toro for $15.49, which honestly felt like a great deal. The Premium Tempura Bowl was definitely the star of the meal. Every piece of tempura was light, crispy, and fried perfectly without feeling greasy. The fried tempura egg was absolutely chef's kiss, especially once the yolk mixed into the rice. The tempura dipping sauce was also excellent and brought everything together. The Carlos's Jewel Box was another standout. The fish tasted fresh, and the rice with their house sauce paired perfectly with everything. The added toro made it even better. The cold soba was well prepared, but it just wasn't our cup of tea. That's more of a personal preference than anything because the quality was still there. The restaurant has a modern look while still feeling like a cozy mom-and-pop shop. I really liked the decor and the welcoming atmosphere. Since we were the only table sitting outside, I can't really comment on the noise level inside, but the patio was peaceful and relaxing. The service was great. The staff brought out a booster seat for my son and even helped secure it to the patio chair. They also brought us all the condiments, including ginger and pickled vegetables, without us having to ask, which I appreciated. Overall, I would definitely come back. The tempura was some of the best I've had in the 626, and the rice bowls were just as impressive. If you're visiting for the first time, I highly recommend ordering one of the tempura bowls. You really can't go wrong. It's great to see a restaurant that started in Torrance expand to Pasadena because it's a welcome addition to the 626 dining scene.

Crispy shrimp with flavorful sauce. They also included an egg and I just love how the gooey egg yolk mixed with the tempura sauce and rice. Such a perfect bite. The ikura definitely added to the texture and flavor too. Yellowtail roll was good, love the crunchy toppings and the sausage. The sweet beef udon was the most average of all the dishes. Flavor was a little too bland/ mild which perhaps could have used a little bit of more spice. Overall, will return again for the tempura!

HAKATA SET (Your choice of: Tonkotsu or Miso Ramen, comes with Mini Spicy Tuna Don, Chicken Karaage 2 pcs, Tsukemono) This was one of the set items for the lunch special. Chose the miso ramen. The miso ramen had a very strong white miso flavor. Didn't hate it, as I do love miso, but it was a little too much miso for my liking. Typical curly ramen and it was cooked well. Loved the jammy egg too. It was a soy marinated egg. There were also three pieces of chashu too! It was good, but slightly overcooked. The portion of the ramen was medium sized and was surprised they didn't bring a smaller size since it was a set meal. But happy they were generous! Spicy tuna don was a small bowl, but they gave a good portion of spicy tuna, which was delicious. Chicken karaage were two pieces of chicken and it was just okay. No tsukemono was served with the meal. Overall the meal was satisfying. I think the price was fair for what was given. CUSTOMER SERVICE Good, friendly and attentive customer service. No complaints! AMBIANCE / TABLES + SEATS Very calm and relaxing ambiance. It was quiet and no music was playing, which I liked. The restaurant was super clean and I liked how the tables were set. Large tables in the back and small tables were closer to the front. Bar seats on the side. It was a medium-sized restaurant, but the layout made it feel larger. Clean bathroom too. PARKING The closest and most logical parking spot was the one right across from the restaurant. School House Garage on 33 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105. Rates: $1.00 first 2 hrs, $2.00 for each additional hour. $12 for the full day.
