We ordered different pho dishes and spring rolls. Also ordered Thai tea and the lemonade type drink. Mostly simple dishes and they were made deliciously and accordingly. Broth was rich and deep with flavor. The service was good and a family friendly ambiance during the weekend. We parked in the back because we like to get a stroll in. I decided to try Rice & Roll'd as I had never had Vietnamese cuisine before and had always wanted to try a banh mi sandwich, so let's get into it... Ambiance - The atmosphere at this restaurant is quite nice. They have a nice modern-looking sign with their business name and the decor was nice too. Located in downtown Manteca, you almost forget that you're in the middle of a mediocre downtown area when you step into the restaurant. Rice & Roll'd can accommodate both smaller and larger groups with a huge long table that can be combined. Service - I ordered my food to-go, so I will only review my observations from others that were dining in and my own experiences while waiting for my food. The staff were all very nice and friendly. I was acknowledge and smiled at by at least 3 other staff while waiting and they gave off a friendly vibe. It was really nice. I watched one waiter take care of a very large group and honestly, he was going above and beyond. It must have been some sort of family reunion or friends gathering, but the waiter was nice enough to take a picture of the entire group and was quite patient with the group which had at least 5 small children in it. Major kudos to him and the staff for their efforts. Food - I ordered an appetizer of fried pork egg rolls and a pork banh mi sandwich at the suggestion of the lady who took my order. The egg rolls were crispy MFers! Do not eat these in a house with a sleeping baby, because these suckers are so crisp it could wake up the whole house. The dipping sauce was tasty and the egg rolls were quite good. The bahn mi sandwich was very unimpressive at first bite, but all I got was a mouthful of bread. My 2nd bite was much better and it was a really tasty sandwich. The slaw type stuff they put in the sandwich is very good and honestly I liked the bites with that just as much as the bites with the pork. I'm a fan! Overall, this was a great first step into the world of Vietnamese cuisine and I would definitely come back to try other things in the future. I was able to try Rice & Roll'd in March 2024. We stopped in for a work lunch party. Quick tip, make sure to plan for parking. This place is on Yosemite Street in Manteca. It's not impossible to find parking, but parking immediately in front isn't the easiest. We ended up parking on Maple and it was only about a minute walk. I had never been here before and was quite impressed with how it looks inside. You can tell they took their time in the decor and it was comfortable for our party of about 10 people. I ordered the Spicy Beef Stew Noodle bowl. They asked how spicy I liked it and I said medium. Even at medium spice level, I wish I would have said hot. That being said, it was great. Very flavorful and I was happy with my selection. I also ordered BBQ pork fried rice to go for my wife and I to share later. We both loved it and wish we had more. This place is excellent and is one of the best restaurants in the downtown area. I came to pick up some food during lunch time with my sister last Friday noon; the food took pretty long but maybe that's because we ordered 8 dishes. This place has a modern touch and it reminds me of a restaurant in a modernized downtown area like maybe San Jose or Concord. It's a sign of good stuff to come. I'm a huge fan of their pork combo platter which came with grilled shrimp, grilled pork, dried noodles, veggies and rice. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is also delicious! I'd love to come back and order some spring rolls and egg rolls. I'd also like to try their pho! Took hubby for his time to try Pho and he loved it! I don't have a lot of experience with Pho so we just winged it when ordering. I had the Won Ton egg noddle and it was very good. Shockingly I found at least 5 won ton's in the soup, so they were very generous. Hubby had the Bo Kho (beef stew) and loved it. He let me try it and that is definitely what I will order next time. It was more flavorful than my Won Ton. We both ordered the combo so for a minimum addition we had our drinks and an egg roll included. We also ordered a side of the house fried rice and it was delicious! Large chunks of the various meats they offer in all of their dishes. Everything was so good and our server was great. After opening two businesses, birthing a child and having one on the way, I don't remember the last time I had the time or energy to write a yelp review but I had to give recognition when it's so well deserved! Our group of 18 walked in earlier tonight and, of course, waited a bit for a table and admittedly, were a bit anxious with our 9 hungry kids. On top of that, coming from Great Wolf Lodge, we consumed nothing but nachos and burgers all day. Also, being Vietnamese, we've had a lot of Vietnamese food all over the world so although we had high hopes for a delicious dinner, we were also prepared for just mediocre food. Tell me why not a single person in our party, big or small, was disappointed in their food? In fact, as I was prepping my two year old's bowl, everyone was taking turns raving about their food! Finally, I tried my filet mignon pho and it was as good as everyone mentioned. The kids slurped up their entire bowls and the adults were happy campers. Definitely a lot of praise for Rice & Roll'd from other reviews, but personally for me I felt a bit let down. Coming from the Bay Area I definitely feel this is Vietnamese food that is a tier below what I'm used to. I will say the interior is a nice family style look to it. Service wise it is very hit or miss depending on who you get serving you. Quality wise I thought the meat was lacking in depth of flavor. The item I really enjoyed were the Fried Pork Egg Rolls which had a nice crisp to it while not being too oily. The filling was also done pretty well and had a nice balance. The Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls ($7.95) were solid, but I definitely wish it had more pork, but otherwise it was tasty although pretty standard. You're better off just getting shrimp only honestly. The Pho Combination with Ox Tail ($16.95) was the item I was least satisfied by overall. There was very little ox tail and it stayed undercooked very easily and it honestly tasted like nothing with each bite. The broth was just bombed with so much MSG that even Uncle Roger might say that's a bit too much. It was more sweet than salty and it was unpleasant to drink out of. Definitely was not my favorite and honestly I would pass on the ox tail and just get the cheaper options on the list of Pho options. Honestly not a place I'm too sure I'd return to and maybe my experience was hindered by a constant crying baby behind me, but an underwhelming bowl of Pho and slightly below average customer service heavily outweighs the pros of this shop to me. read more

My bun Bo hue felt watered down. The meat in my son's combo egg noodle was dry. They don't use decent quality meat or did not properly tenderized the meat - all the meat was dry AF. My friend voted this her favorite. My husband liked his Combo Pho but was too full to finish it. We basically tried everything we knew we liked at the Tracy location. Everything was great, and the service was average. Not as welcoming as the last place we dined. I can't give a 5 star review after experiencing true 5's at other places. As a San Jose native- pho and other Vietnamese dishes are extremely popular. It's been trial and error finding a good pho restaurant in the Central Valley. I'm so glad to have found one in Manteca! They offer chicken pho, along with several dishes you normally don't see at pho restaurants such as fried rices AND banh mi! Glad to finally have tried their new location in downtown Manteca. You can either park on the street or in the lot behind the restaurant. Vietnamese coffee was smooth, strong and not too sweet. Loved the combo vermicelli bowl with pork, shrimp skewer, and eggroll. I thought it would be too much for me to eat, but I devoured the entire bowl! I used to love coming here when I found this gem but the food hasn't been nearly as good as it used to be. Flavors aren't there. It's a hit or miss now.
