BKK Street Noodles with egg noodles and soup
    Belinda L.

My sister had me make a Yelp reservation yesterday for today at 12:30 PM for a party of 6. This morning she told me one person couldn't make it. I wasn't able to edit the reservation to reflect the change in number. We arrived at the restaurant at 12:17 PM and let our hostess know that we were now a party of 5. She was OK with that and asked us to give her time to set up the table to accommodate a member of our party who was in a wheelchair. There is a push button to operate the door should you require it. Our hostess brought us water with no ice I think because the members of our party were older which is what I would have asked for. I was ready with my order of Braised Pork Leg Rice and BKK Street Noodles with egg noodles in soup because I read fellow Yelpers reviews before choosing a restaurant and then the food. It was our 1st time patronizing the restaurant and my sister asked for the specialties of the house/recommendations with the qualifications that she did not eat spicy nor duck. The recommendation of Chicken Rice was a good one. My sister liked the tender chicken and the ginger rice. Brother-in-law asked about the juice available. The orange juice is not fresh squeezed. He decided to go instead with the iced Thai coffee and ordered Eggs Benedict. Dad wanted Mango Fried Rice with chicken and sister ordered another dish of Pad See Ew with pork. My sister forgot to order takeout and did so later in the meal. The kitchen was busy, but we did not mind waiting 15 minutes for Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Presentation of food was good. Food had good flavor and was ample. Braised pork was tender as expected. BKK Street Noodles were a little spicy. Water glasses were refilled without being asked. Hostess checked a couple of times on everything going well. It's a calm environment to have a meal with nice music. Children in other parties were mindful of the atmosphere and were well behaved and kept their voices low. The hostess let us know she had to clear the table to get ready for the next customers so we tried to quickly vacate allowing her to rearrange the furniture.

Came here for Mother's Day brunch with my daughter. Their menu's quite long. She ordered chicken rice, Thai iced tea, and I wanted a red curry with kabocha (pumpkin) plus brown rice with shrimp as protein. When the food came, we didn't think it was that much, but we became very full as we were finishing our plates. Food here tastes pretty authentic but a tad pricey. The shrimp was juicy but I wish they were fresher. Soup that came with her chicken rice was really bland. Service was attentive and friendly, ambiance is pleasant.

I cannot believe this place isn't slammed! Really authentic Thai restaurant with an extensive menu. Budget some time to digest the menu or do what we did and ask Touch (pronounced Tash!) for her favorites and go with those. We ordered family style and had: Thai iced coffees Moo ping pork skewers with sticky rice (cool presentation!) Green curry with chicken Chicken dry fried egg noodles Lamb of Siam (another neat plating situation haha) Thom kha fried rice with jumbo shrimp Weirdly the green Curry was my favorite with the pork coming in second. I would say the fried rice was super spicy but in an addictive way. Noodles come with a whole chicken thigh. We definitely over ordered! Come support this new spot!

I came here for lunch with a friend, craving thai food but was a little disappointed by what we ordered. There has been a recent trend of Asian and particularly Thai-style brunch spots in SF so I was excited to try the food here. I got the Thai boiled rice soup with shrimp while my friend opted for the braised pork leg rice. The boiled rice shrimp soup was from their Asian brunch menu but ended up being pretty lackluster. The shrimp was good but it was really just 6 pieces of shrimp, white rice and a bland broth without any veggies other than herbs. I had really hoped this would pack a punch of flavor. The braised pork leg rice was better but a bit dry and it reminded me of Taiwanese pork rice but without the nice sauciness of the classic dish. Service was very friendly and we were asked multiple times if everything was good. Perhaps we should have ordered other dishes but for the price, the food we got really wasn't worth it.

We came here to have a "snack" after a neighboring Mexican restaurant opened an hour late due to daylight Savings. I really liked the decor of this restaurant and it felt different compared to other Thai restaurants. Here's what we ordered: 1. Thai coffee 4/5 - yummy! Very sweet though. 2. Thai crepe- 3/5- crepe was a bit different and I chose to eat the insides separately and I asked for a side of fish sauce. 3. Fried chicken- 5/5- yum!! 4. Mussuam curry- 4/5- a bit sweet but a nourishing hot curry never misses

My friends & I from the grade school of our children met up for lunch at Rice & Shine. I made a reservation for 12:30 pm. When I checked in, I saw our table with the reserved sign. It was my first time dining here but my friends ate at this restaurant prior. We just ordered water and for me hot water with lime. We told the server,Koy, that we were eating family style. We ordered Chicken Sa-te, Yellow Curry with chicken and steam rice, and Pad Seiw. When they were served, you can smell the aroma of Chinese and Indian influences. The food was flavorful. For dessert, we had the Kaya Toast and Fried Banana with Ice Cream. The Kaya Toast tasted so delicious with coconut & pandan flavor. The server was nice. I like the dining room beautifully decorated and clean. I will return with my husband or friends definitely. It is nice supporting small establishments in the community like Rice & Shine.

Ordered a take out order of Pad Kee Mao with pork and their chicken wings which is one of their appetizers. Noodles were very salty, greasy and the pork were strips of pork and not ground pork which I am accustomed to at other Thai restaurants. Chicken was not really spicy although the menu stated it would be. I preferred the chicken over the noodles. The cashier/server could have exuded better hospitality standards when I asked her some questions about the owners were the same ones as Khan Toke located a block away and why they retired and if they were the same ones who opened Rice and Shine. 3 stars overall for the food and interaction with the server. Her response was evasive as if I was a government official. Definitely will not be back and will go to my other fav place on Clement street which is way better with service and the food.

Ordered the braised chicken noodles and a breakfast item called AM plate. Unfortunately, both were very underwhelming. The noodles were a letdown. The chicken was tender, but it looked very pale and unappetizing. I ordered the dry version, but there was soup pooled at the bottom that wasn't mixed into the noodles at all, making the dish feel sloppy and unsatisfying overall. The AM plate was even worse. Very plain potatoes, canned beans, two eggs, a pork sausage, and a single piece of toast with jam. It honestly felt like airplane food. The only thing I enjoyed was the pork sausage, which was tasty enough that I ordered an extra one. Unfortunately, the second sausage arrived uncooked in the middle, and I had to ask for it to be redone. What really sealed the experience was the service. The waitress showed no apology or empathy and gave off the impression that she didn't want to be there and that my requests were a bother. I wouldn't return, though I do hope they improve both their food quality and service. The place itself is nicely decorated, which is probably its strongest point.

Came here for brunch on a weekday and receded immediately. The service was great. The food itself was not something we'd make an extra trip back for. Got the chicken and waffles (6/10). The waffles were just ok and the fried chicken simply tasted like chicken nuggets. There was not enough meat and the Waffles were a bit soggy. The best thing we ordered was the noodle soup with beef. The flavor of the broth was rich and there was enough substance to keep us going. 7.5/10 The chicken and rice was decent -- flavors were not there, and this was just simply a plain dish.

Had a yummy brunch at Rice & Shine! Moo ping with sticky rice was great - I loved the grilled pork skewers which came with a flavorful sauce and sticky rice. The fried chicken in the chicken waffle was super crispy and delicious, though the waffle wasn't fluffy. The fiery southern ribs were good and very spicy. The inside is cute and I liked that the tables weren't so close to each other. It's a great place to come with a group. Service was friendly and fast.

Beautiful space and good food. Excited to see Khan Toke reinvent itself as Rice & Shine just a few blocks away. We tried: *Thai ice tea - good, not too sweet. *SEA skillet eggs - 2 eggs, Chinese sausage, Vietnamese pork loaf, garlic mince pork and a sourdough slice. Good! Like it! *Thai Chicken Satay Sandwich - a little bit too salty and chicken was dry. *side of Fried Chicken - Good! Hb likes this more than his sandwich. Service was friendly though they seemed a tad confused by my request of a side of fried chicken. Eventually, they got what I wanted...I just wanted a bit more protein. Plus I always like fried chicken. Lol. Would like to come back and try more items on their menu. Located on Geary between 22nd and 23rd Avenues.

Rice & Shine is a great new addition to the brunch scene in Inner Richmond. This restaurant offers both brunch items with an Asian twist as well as traditional Thai dishes. The interior is huge and suitable for large parties. Service is great, staff are welcoming and accommodating. My friend made a reservation for our large party to be safe. As it is still a new restaurant, it was quiet that day and we could have easily walked in without a reservation. We all enjoyed our meal - chicken and waffles, breakfast fried rice, and braised beef noodles. I had the braised chicken noodle with flat rice noodles (dry with soup on side) which was hearty and delicious. The chicken was so tender it fell off the bone. Overall, we had a great first experience at Rice & Shine. I highly recommend everyone come to support this local business! I will definitely be returning.

I ordered takeout from here for a late lunch one day and didn't realize it was the same owners as Khan Toke which had closed. I had eaten there once and thought the food was just ok. I think the food here is also ok. It's not the best Thai food in the neighborhood, but it's good. The price for the chicken wings seemed a little high because it didn't come with as many as I've gotten from other Thai places. The wings were tasty and crunchy though. The pad see ew was also good, but I just prefer a couple other spots nearby more. I think I got pork and there wasn't a ton of meat. The food tastes fine, I just think that for the price, the portion sizes are a little small. The decor is very clean and fresh looking, although the chairs and benches don't have padding, so they might not be the most comfortable to sit on if you have a long meal there. The server was friendly. Nice to have another close Thai option by my house.

We ordered the Papaya Salad, Veg Spring Rolls, House Favorite Yellow Curry, Eggplant Basil, Pad Kee Mao, and White Rice. The Papaya Salad was a bit disappointing. It was overly sour and tasted more citrusy than fresh and lime-forward. The Veg Spring Rolls were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. The biggest letdown was the Yellow Curry. It lacked the rich flavor I typically expect from a Thai curry, and some of the vegetables seemed undercooked. The Eggplant Basil was also underwhelming. It lacked the distinct basil flavor that the dish is known for. Since we ordered the vegetarian version, it came loaded with a mix of other vegetables, which made it feel more like a generic vegetable stir-fry than an eggplant basil dish. The Pad Kee Mao was the standout of the meal. It had good flavor and was enjoyable, although the portion size felt a bit small for the price. Overall, the food was ok, but nothing really stood out. I've had better Thai food elsewhere, both in terms of flavor and value. While the experience wasn't bad, it wasn't memorable enough to make me want to return. For the price point, I expected more authentic flavors and better execution.

There was a great kick and acidity to the papaya salad distributed throughout the fresh vegetables in the dish. I highly recommend! The pumpkin fries were also a great choice: crispy fry with soft pumpkin inside, maintaining the overall pumpkin flavor profile. The sauce they provide on the side (sweet and sour plum sauce), cut through the fry but didn't overwhelm the pumpkin itself. For myself, I got the yellow curry with chicken. The only thing that was bad (and part of the reason I gave 4 stars and not 5) is the bathroom. Very dark and smelled funny.

The interior is well decorated with Thai culture and with the darker tones of the design, it makes the restaurant feel quite fancy. 4.5/5 - Crispy Pork (Moo Krop) Fried Rice - Very savory fried rice dish. Spiced well and very filling. We didn't expect the pork to be cut so large and mixed into the rice, but it was very tender and easy to still eat. We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. Filling portions and did not overcook their noodles. You can taste each component of the dish, which speaks to everything not being under or overcooked. We ordered nuts on the side but you would be quite satisfied ordering this if you like pad thai! 4.5/5 - Pad Gra Prow - Appropriate veggie to beef proportion and very flavorful. Minced well and great to complement with your carb dishes (noodle or rice). We thought the dish was slightly oily but it feels well absorbed when eaten with our pad thai. If you have tried the dish before and would like it, this will be satisfactory!

Appetizers- Shrimp Spring Roll: it was pretty good actually. The stand out for me was the peanut sauce. Absolutely delicious. Overall, 8/10. Entrees: got the crab fried rice to share. The flavor was really good. It didn't have too many of the crab pieces though. I would give it a solid 7/10. Also ordered the green curry with roasted duck, which comes with a side of jasmine rice. The curry was good and the duck was tender. I'd give it a 8/10. I would come back here to try other items on their menu. TBH very reasonable pricing and good value since the portions were generous.
