Food is pretty decent - love the bogo options. The fish quality can be a bit inconsistent. The lion king roll salmon on top usually is raw sashimi grade salmon but this one tasted like smoked salmon? Yoma Cafe offers customization but perhaps since it was pre-paid they didn't ask (go less sweet). The cafe was quite busy. My son said the SPAM Masubi was "the best he ever had!" Considering how much money he spent the first 2 months at Lincoln Market in his senior year and friends whose moms made it at swim meets, Yeah, FinnCinerator's an expert and Yoma Cafe's SPAM Masubi is really good! The only criticism I have are the plastic containers for the poke bowl. The off-gassing of the plastic literally changed the flavor of the fish. If they're using a new vendor, it's not good. We get delivery from here all the time. The popcorn chicken is pretty good. It's never dry and usually retains some crunch even after delivery. Most of the times it's got some dark stuff on it which I haven't figured out what it is, but it's still tasty. One time we check marked the spicy mayo sauce option, but unfortunately we got the sweet sauce instead and it spilled everywhere because the plastic container melted from the hot chicken. Went here for a date with my husband and it was a nice experience. It was quite busy and late when we came in and service was still quick. My husband ordered the chicken katsu sandwich which was budget friendly and I ordered two hand rolls which were the best hand rolls I've ever had - generously stuffed with spicy tuna and hamachi. Recently ordered a sushi platter for a holiday potluck at work and had it delivered by DoorDash. Easy and everyone loved it. About a week later, I also ordered another mixed sushi platter with egg rolls for our family's gathering and it was also a hit. The only negative is that the egg rolls wasn't very crunchy. Could be due to condensation from delivery. Fix this and it will be perfect. I love all the options to choose from so you can get what you like/love. Good spot for an affordable quick bite. Restaurant is extremely small with limited seating. We often order take out cause it can get busy on the weekends. What disappointed me was the way my concern was handled when I called. Your attitude came across as dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of feeling that my feedback was heard, I was essentially told to accept the mistake, be more understanding, and order elsewhere if I wasn't happy. You mentioned that your staff were busy because of the World Cup and wanted to watch the games. With all due respect, that is not a customer's responsibility. If an order was missed because employees were distracted by a soccer match, that is an internal management issue, not something customers should be expected to excuse. You also stated that you refunded $40. That is not accurate. We reported the missing item directly to Uber Eats, and Uber Eats refunded only the value of the missing sushi roll. We did not receive any additional refund from your restaurant. Again, I understand that mistakes happen. What I cannot understand is the lack of accountability and the poor attitude shown toward a customer who was simply providing feedback after receiving an incomplete order. We ordered a chicken katsu sandwich $7.99, a 8 pieces chirashi bowl and 2 drinks for $55+. The katsu sandwich was good. Chicken was thin but i liked the crunch. They have an impressive menu and so many yummy options, it took us a while to decide. Their self-order kiosk has lots of photos of everything so that was helpful. They have indoor seating and even a selection of board games. I ended up getting the salmon and crab sushi burrito and my partner got the Chicken Katsu. Our friends ordered a couple of different rolls, the salmon sashimi, and the popcorn chicken. Everything was delicious! We were also given complementary miso soup and edamame. We also ordered the ube taro milk and the strawberry matcha latte - both ended up being BOGO so we coincidentally ended up with 4 drinks! Had no idea there was a sale going on but we were really happy about that haha. Service here is incredible! Our waitress was so kind and attentive - when she was bringing out our food, she presented each dish with care and even described the home-made sauces that came with each. I visited Yoma Cafe with a group of friends to pick up a quick grab n' go lunch after a hike. The tiny restaurant was packed, but there was only a short line to place to-go orders. The menu was slightly overwhelming - there were countless combinations of bento boxes, sushi, snacks, sandwiches, and drinks. I ultimately decided to order a chicken katsu sandwich, since I figured it would be easily portable for a picnic in Golden Gate Park. Once we all placed our orders, there was a very long wait (20-25 minutes) for our orders to come out, one-by-one. We waited outside for our names or order numbers to be called since there wasn't any room inside the restaurant; however, we didn't realize that our food was ready until someone went back inside to check and saw that our food was just sitting on the counter. When we finally picked up our food, walked to the park, and sat down to eat, I was pleased to find my sandwich nicely packaged and still warm despite the chilly weather that day. While I would have preferred fluffier milk bread (this sandwich used regular white bread), I liked the addition of pickle, carrots, and spicy mayo that elevated the sandwich. The chicken cutlet was thin and a bit dry, but it had a nice, crispy texture. The "2 piece" sandwich order was equivalent to a full sandwich, and it was just the right size for a quick grab n' go lunch. Next time I'm in the area, I'll have to try one of the bento boxes so I can sample more of the menu items. read more

I would give Yoma a 4 for the food and 2 for the service. We were a party of 8 and made a reservation, and that part worked well. Our table was ready when we got there. On the plus side, the food was quite good, and the presentation was nice with a couple of types of salad coming with each entree. Also, for a party of 8, a bill of about $220 (without drinks) was reasonable, I thought. On the negative side, they don't give you an actual menu. When I asked for one, the waitress handed me a business card with a thing I could scan with my phone. For "mature adults" trying to read a menu off a phone is not the same as looking at a printed menu. To their credit, they did also post a menu on one of the walls, but it was not easy for me to see from where I was sitting. So I just asked if they had chicken katsu and they did. Our table was along the wall, so my wife and those next to her had to sit on a bench with the wall as a "back" and that looked uncomfortable. On my side there were some stools, but I was lucky enough to swipe a real chair from an empty table, otherwise I'd be uncomfortable. The service is quite spotty. Some things like "water with no ice" or rice we had to ask more than once. Now, it's a small table and we were a party of 8, so it's possible the one waitress (or the kitchen) was overwhelmed. However there weren't too many others in the restaurant when we were. I patiently waited for my chicken katsu. It arrived after some in our party were already finished. I ate a little, but took most of it home. Also the tea is served in "to go" type disposable containers rather than actual teacups. I think younger folks would probably enjoy this place, as the food was good and it didn't seem overpriced at all. But I would not recommend it for those over 65 who are looking for some comfort as they eat. read more

This tiny Inner Sunset cafe is exactly the type of bustling spot you might find in a more vintage neighborhood in Tokyo like Yanaka Ginza. With a bright green awning and a colorful menu, it definitely has character and an ebullient owner who greets everyone with enthusiasm, even interlopers like me who aren't from these parts. It appears to draw local families, especially kids, appear to get lunch here. That sounded like a good idea, so I decided to assemble my bento box. It's a convenient a la carte operation where I could pick and choose what I wanted. Bento boxes cost $13.99, and I decided on a combination of Chicken Katsu and Spicy Curry as my entree (Photo 7). It came with pan-fried gyoza, pickled ginger, white rice with fukikake, and a big side salad. A hearty lunch indeed, and luckily there was an open table because otherwise I would've had to walk to Golden Gate Park to eat it. It's good to know it's here. Between this cafe and the sandos at Sakura down the street, I can have my motherland fix with little fuss. My new go to place for affordable Japanese food! We stumbled into this place on a whim on the weekend evening, and were immediately welcomed by a friendly hostess Yoyo, a clean restaurant, and a sprawling menu of options. We got a number of things, all of which surprised us with the quantity of food we were given for the price. While none of the dishes were extraordinary, every single one ranged from good to very good for an incredibly affordable price. I don't think I've ever gotten this much Japanese food for this low of a price in San Francisco. The standout was the Melting Salmon Roll, great proportions of fish with a fantastic sear on top. The sandwiches (or burritos) are large with generous servings of protein. This is absolutely worth a visit if you want to eat a bunch of good food for a fair price. Or just to have a normal amount of food for a low price. Or for none of that, visit incredibly friendly Yoyo and her gem of a restaurant. read more

The hubby chose the chicken katsu bento with crab, veggie spring roll and gyoza as his 3 sides. I chose the 6 piece sashimi bento with avocado, veggie spring roll and spicy tuna. Tuna, salmon and albacore were the sashimi cuts. They are very generous with their sashimi! The bento also comes with miso soup, your choice of sushi or regular rice and greens (mixed green salad and seaweed salad) I am so impressed and proud of Yoyo for creating such a beautiful little restaurant. But don't be fooled - it may be tiny but there are so many delicious options to choose from! You order from the touch screen and it can seem a bit overwhelming because there are many tabs and options to choose from but once you know what you want I think JT's pretty easy to find the item. There was an older woman who stepped aside and mentioned that she couldn't figure out what to do. I should've helped her but we ordered and before I could offer to show her, she walked out. Had a group hangout at this cafe and we arrived not expecting much. However we left filled with joy from the food and the welcoming atmosphere. Their menu is quite diverse and I tried their popcorn chicken and seared fish bento with salmon and hamachi. While we were waiting Yoyo the owner offered us miso while we waited which was light and delicious. The popcorn chicken was really crispy and hit the spot would definitely recommend. The bento box was massive and I liked being able to choose the sides I wanted. We also ordered a spicy salmon roll for the table which was buy one get one free -- super value! Overall i enjoyed the fish and its quality and you can't really go wrong with anything. I wanted to eat salmon so I returned to Yoma and didn't introduce myself to comp my order based on my review a year ago. (See her reply.) I noticed the menu has changed more towards Japanese food and ordered a teriyaki salmon to go. Yoyo gave me a peach iced tea while I waited...thank you! This is a simple tiny shop with a few tables and bar seatings. However, they seem to have a lot of takeout orders and earned many regulars who knew Yoyo. Her hospitality is clearly the highlight of this place! At home, my cat took a sniff and wanted my meal. The salmon was a wee bit dry but was nicely crispy on the outside. This is a very small restaurant. We thought we had made reservations for 6 people, but when we got there they did not have our reservations made on Google? Luckily it was not busy so they were able to get a table of 6 set up for us. Big menu board above the cashier where you are suppose to order on a computer screen, which was a little confusing to us but the owner, YoYo, said she would take our order if that was easier. YoYo the owner was super friendly. After we ordered our meals, she brought over banchan dishes, which I think was on the house? She served us edamame, kimchee and seaweed salad. There are varieties of choices on the menu but most of us ordered bento boxes. The food was good, portions were generous and the service was excellent. We were all served a large cup of green tea in a to go cup with a lid! As we were ready to leave, YoYo made us eggettes to share with condensed milk dip. That was like a surprise dessert to us. All six of us agreed Yoma Cafe was a great find and would definitely be back to try other menu selections in the future.
