I ordered a head because I was pressed for time. when i got back to work to eat, what I thought was Caesar dressing was Ranch - no biggie as I like ranch as well but wanted something different. And the chicken portion was maybe half a breast or more seasoned with I'm guessing their house spice (had abit of a kick to it but was yummy). Not sure why we have never tried this place before last week, but I can confidently say that if you are looking for good flavor and value, Rice & Spice is worth a shot. Like many other reviewers, I recommend ordering ahead so your food is ready when you arrive. The business is like a grocery/deli and the staff has always been nice. They did leave the cheese off of a cheeseburger that was ordered which was a bummer, however when we asked for no jalapenos on something, they remembered that. In the last week we have tried a few of their burgers and a lamb over rice plate and although the portion size and presentation could use improvement, the flavor and value was good. A wonderful thing I'm seeing more of in and around Lodi are these great little fusion restaurants (and in this case, also a market) that combine the foods that we know and love with more exotic flavors. Rice & Spice is no exception. They have a pretty extensive menu that offers up a lot of good stuff. I have been addicted to their pizza ever since discovering this gem. In a town where mom and pop pizza places are still more expensive than most other areas, it's nice to know that at Rice & Spice you can pay a little less and get a whole lot more. They also have a lot of signature specialties that are really great. Their BBQ Chicken Pizza has decent portions of tasty roasted chicken, and a BBQ sauce that is just the right amount of sweet and spicy. I like to get it with olives instead of onions. After checking out the menu, we decided to split the Chicken Over Rice (~$8) and Lamb Over Rice (~$8). Both dishes come with rice, salad, and a can of soda. It's also served with white sauce on the side. It took about 10 minutes to prepare our food, which wasn't too bad. It is A LOT of food for ~$8. I think this ended up lasting me 2-3 meals, so it is well worth the cost. The yellow rice is fragrant and the meats were well-seasoned. Today, we ordered one large pizza and chicken. Upon, eating with my coworkers, we had a terrible experience of getting maggots/larvae in our pizza. We weren't really paying attention of the food because we were talking about other topics until the end when finishing up our last slice. One of our coworker noticed it when putting on the chili pepper flakes that something was moving and we discovered it to be magggots swarming around from the meat! This is totally unacceptable, not only unsanitary but disgusting. Now we are worry about our health and whether if we are going to be sick tomorrow. One of our coworkers actuallty threw up right after she saw maggots and saw some shells in her vommit. We will never come here again. Lost our business and trust. We called and the owner for a full refund and he does not even take any responsibility or apologize for his actions. He accused us of putting maggots in the pizza. I mean why would we do that? So- I can't believe it took me so long to try this place out- If you're looking for a good quality - low cost satisfying burger- look no further. I had seen pictures that others had posted and knew I wanted to try it. Recommendation- it would be better to call in your order before picking up- everything is freshly prepared- and that way you don't have to wait. If you're looking for Middle-Eastern, Indian or Asian food- seasoning or spices, come here. First off we ate the loaded fries I had spicy chicken Michael had the philly cheesesteak I can not recommend them enough and I'm so full! Received their ad in the mail and was shocked at the prices. I decided to order delivery and for under $20 and 0 delivery fee I had a gyro meal and a lamb plate as advertised delivered to my house in 30 minutes. I had a complete meal in front of me, 2 cold drinks, fries, sandwich, rice, salad, and lamb. The gyro: iceberg lettuce, tomato, onion, tzatziki on pita. The meat was sliced thin and rolled like deli, the veggies were not diced and the tzatziki was very watery and honestly undetectable. Even with these observations, I stuffed fries in the gyro and enjoyed. The fries were thick battered and crisped to perfection golden brown. Yum! The lamb dish: Basmati rice was fragrant and flavorful. The lamb was diced and tender, however kind of dry. The salad was similar to the gyro; iceberg lettuce, tomato and onion with a side of ranch. I didn't have room for the dish but I will be back for it later. The consensus: very affordable, convenient, tasty and plentiful meal which had everything I needed. Their menu is vast. This is one of those excellent neighborhood store/restaurant. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Their restaurant is an over the counter-type where you order and pick up. I especially like their Tandoori Chicken Wrap. It is flavorful with just the right amount of spice. If you like something else, they have wings, burgers, and pizza. The food here is consistent and satisfying. The burgers are my go-to's; I highly recommend the avocado burger and my friend is a big fan of the beef strip (beef bacon) burger. As for the wings, they're not the best wings I've ever had, but they are definitely the best halal wings I've ever had! The BBQ sauce on the wings are the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Vegelicious Stromboli is THE BEST!!! Impressed with the fact they grill the bell peppers and onions before putting them inside the Stromboli. Fried mushrooms were DELICIOUS and not greasy - good amount for the order. Husband rates his lamb gyro as 8/10. The little store has lots of neat snacks and allllllll the spices and teas. While walking through the business a nice man came up to me and asked if I needed anything. We then discussed that this my first visit to this great market. I used to love this place. They made really good falafels and provided some really good sides with them, but not any more! They've recently changed their business plan to dramatically cheapen everything down, no more wonderful spices with the sauces, and you can't get the same sides with a sandwich in the combo meal. You can't reach the drinks in the coolers. They're now behind the counter. A better strategy would have been to raise prices a little bit and keep the flavors and sides that made this place great. This place has now degenerated into a fast food joint, you pay cheap and you get cheap, tasteless food! I used to really look forward to getting food at this place, what a shame!
