First time eating there and I would not recommend it. I tried to order a kung pao shrimp bowl and was told that was not possible even though the menu item for the bowl states seafood was extra, and there were no seafood options which made no sense. I finally just asked for the shrimp fried rice. Got home the shrimp had no flavor other than oil, the rice was flavorless, just sick to my stomach. I couldn't even make a dent in the bowl. Hello, I am leaving a review on Rice Express because I wanted to say how rude the workers are there. They are very disrespectful and do not attend customers how it should kindly be. I recently went to this restaurant and the man who attended be was NOT nice. When I was going to ask what I wanted, before I could ask, he said "What do you want?" I didn't say anything but I did not like the way he said that! When I about to pay, he shoved my food in the bag and threw it on the counter. I left but didn't say anything to him. Very clean and super fresh food. It's so much better tasting than Panda Express...plus it's cheaper!! Their fried rice is delicious. Soup is made to order (hot & sour soup is yummy). It's definitely above-average Chinese food (and I've tried many different Chinese restaurants). Plus they give really big portions =) They have great friendly service too. I just moved to a new office in Covina and originally wanted Panda Express, but didn't want to drive too far.... So I decided to give rice express a try....................... yep, should have just drove that extra mile for Panda Express. This place sucks! The orange chicken didn't even have chicken in it.. it was just the fried part drenched in sauce. The String beans tasted funny and wasn't cooked fully. I really was not at all satisfied with the food here, which is disappointing because the selection is pretty good. My order was lukewarm and I could tell it had been sitting out for quite a while. The noodles were greasy and had very little flavor, the rice was very dry and it too had very little flavor, and the chicken I got was gummy from having been sitting under a heat lamp for what I'm guessing was at least a few hours. They give generous portions, I'll give that to them and their prices are low, but beware, you get what you pay for. On top of that all, they were terribly rude. I'm not ever going back. read more

I guess the baby was craving chinese so I convinced the hubby to stop by on his way home from work. I always love the beef and broccoli, but here it was pretty dry. I was disappointed. My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for years. The food is fresh and very tasty. Our favorite dish is the Wonton soup. The place is clean and well-maintained. There is always a steady stream of people going there. I would give it 5 stars because the bathroom is clean but has signs of vandalism which is not painted over. I was served raw broccoli beef. I could still see the raw meat and raw batter. The guy had no problem giving me my money back the problem was when I watched him dump the broccoli beef I just handed him right back into the main serving tray. I told him that was wrong and he started to take it out and I walked out. Who's knows who else was served that meat or if he actually threw it out. Won't be back. read more

Most people will get good value here so value is 5 out of 5 stars, price wise 5 out of 5 stars, taste wise 3 out of 5 stars, 4 out of 5 stars for selection. I deducted a star and half so 3.5 out of 5 because the food taste is a tad above average but good compared to others in the area. I really want to give at LEAST 4 stars because I love their food and how it tastes. I've been here a couple times and nothing bad has ever happened. My visit today wasn't bad either. My reason for the bad score is because I have a big concern with their food handling practices. Before the lady served my food, she was on the cash register handling CASH. Right away, without washing her hands or at least wearing gloves, she went straight to me to serve my food. Now as you read this you might think, "if you really had an issue about this, why didn't you tell her right then and there when it happened?" That's because I didn't want to make things worse or agitate her. She wasn't very enthused to serve my food, and I understand because it's probably closing time or close to closing time. So I decided to just suck it up because I was hungry and I just wanted to go home. I would still come back because for the price and its taste, it's pretty unbeatable.
