Walked in in a Saturday night at 6pm and were seated right away. There was only one other table and couple of take out orders while we were there. The exterior is a bit sketchy as many of the shops near by are closed down , but the interior is pretty large and has a bunch of nice booths. Skip the hot and sour soup. It was bland. Highly recommend the orange chicken and also the eggplant dish. This place deep fries their eggplant before tossing it in a sauce. This gave it an amazing texture. I just wish it had a more flavorful or spicy sauce. White rice came with the entrees. Service was good, plenty of parking, and had the World Cup games in 2 big screens. read more

We wanted to clarify our order and called 9 times continuously but after you get your order expect them to NOT ANSWER any more calls from your number. I had to come in person again just to ask about our order. Don't get me wrong their food is good but they need to work on their communication a lot better. I want to say expect when you call this number they will not answer it once you order and pick up your food. They never answered my calls to clarify our order. I had to drive back from home just to clarify why we were missing something. We are in town visiting Azusa Pacific University, after a walk around campus we found Red Lantern Chinese Cuisine and decided to celebrate the possibility of moving to APU (plus an early celebration since tomorrow is my birthday) The restaurant is small, but large enough for plenty seating in a confortable setting. The staff: Very friendly and welcoming; everyone was kind and respectful. The food: Very tasty, fresh, plentiful. (We are staying at a near by hotel so we only order 2?items plus a soup because we didn't want to waste food by not having a place to store the leftovers) But, if things go as we hope at APU, this restaurant will become a place we plan to visit often once the transition is decided to move to APU. read more

Years ago we would come here and it was always decent. Shortly after COVID, something about the food changed and unfortunately we just weren't fans of the changes to the menu. Recently, I have to say we came back and we are so glad we did. There must be a new cook or something because we have yet to have a bad meal. Combination chow mein is the star for our family. Combo fried rice is also a staple for us. I would 100% reccomend the garlic chicken and the Mongolian beef. Sweet and sour pork and sweet and sour chicken is phenomenal. But enough about the food. Comes with egg flower or hot and sour soup with an egg roil served with white or fried rice. We ordered mushroom chicken and Mongolian beef. Both dishes were tasty. The Mongolian beef was done right, with sliced yellow onion and green onion! A bit skimpy on the green onion but the taste was just right. The mushrooms chicken was also great with plenty of chopped garlic and the chicken breast pieces were tender. Service was quick and the records are just your ordinary place to dine. Was craving Chinese food and saw this place. We called in and ordered for take out during lunch time. The place had one occupied table when we arrived and it's look just like a typical Asian restaurant with plenty booths and tables. We got orange chicken, fish with black bean sauce and shrimp fried rice. The lunch special set comes with your choice of white rice, brown or egg fried rice and a fried egg roll. All the dishes tasted very good, the orange chicken was tender and had plenty of sauce. The black bean fish had a perfect amount of sauce, not too salty! The portion they give was way more than enough for one person especially the shrimp fried rice... the container was full to the rim! I came with a couple of girlfriends to the Red Lantern for dinner, there is both a serve-it-yourself bar in another room behind the entrance room for their unlimited soup and condiments, and there is a nice wait staff that serves you whatever dishes that you have ordered from the menu. There is plenty of parking in a public lot behind the restaurant. The food tastes great, the price is reasonable, and there is space to bring a group of friends located in a second room behind the first entrance space. New tradition for NYE has been established! We had the orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, eggplant with tofu, vegetable chow mien, vegetable fried rice, egg rolls, and hot and sour soup. Everything was so good! Only disappointment was that they couldn't not accommodate my son's egg allergy with the side of fried rice that comes with the entree - so we had to order a full order (vegetable fried rice without egg) for him to be able to eat rice. I ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice, the fried rice was really good until i found a hair mixed in it. the chicken was a little bland and pale. Took the hair out to see if it was mine, it was not it was a short thick black hair, i have blonde/ light brown hair. I sent a picture of the hair & explained what happened, but they said they could not give me a refund due to lack of evidence the hair was in the food because the picture i had taken was of the hair out of the food because i had taken it out to see if it was mine. 8/22/25 We had a to go order that totaled about $103.00. We ordered several items as everybody wanted something different. My portion was Pork fried rice and shrimp with lobster sauce. These 2 items were very bad. Surprised as I typically think of this restaurant as pretty good. The pork fried rice had no flavor at all as if the soy sauce and other ingredients were missing and instead of small thinly sliced pork there was large pork pieces that were slimy. The shrimp with lobster sauce was like water and no consistency and the shrimp was precooked and simply bad. My other family members didn't really complain much but I don't know what happend to this place, but I won't be going back. read more
