Porterhouse

Amazing food and service!! Will definitely go back. The steak was incredible, best sweet and sour chicken, and really could just live off the bread and wine. Not the best of locations is the only reason I gave 4 stars. Interesting people watching though.

Here to try their Pork Spareribs!

Finally!! A Chinese Sparerib that meets my high standards in Alaska! I have looked far and wide in Alaska for a good basic Chinese Sparerib. At China Garden they make them puny like nibblets this is a Sparerib you can sink your teeth in! I love that it's got pull to it. We also got the Sizzling Beef it reminded Judy of a dish the Sizzling Wor Bar in Maryland. Now we'll have to come back and try their Prime Rib ... yeah we've heard from friends that the Prime Rib on their American Menu is the Bomb! It's only served on Friday and Saturdays. Happily I anticipate many ToGo Orders of Spareribs in my future!

14oz Tenderloin

Always hard to pick between, Prime Rib, Porterhouse steak or Tenderloin here. It's all so good!

Egg Foo Young is close to my heart but not every place has it, not every place serves huge portions like this, and not every place serves it with American brown gravy. For those who enjoy this dish..one of the best I've ever had. For those who have never tried it, it is indeed an omelette with gravy on top served with rice. Nothing special about it but it's nostalgic and delish for the ones that enjoy it. As mentioned before..portion is Huge! I'm not in anchorage much but this is my spot and this is my dish whenever I'm in town.

Tried dine-in with the kiddos and finally experienced the tenderloin steak that the town raves about. It was a great meal, good service, kitschy American Chinese atmosphere, with a TV playing football in the main room filled with booths and tables that have seen their share of seatings. The filet was made a perfect medium rare, could use some salt and pepper BUT it was just so pure sizzling in butter on the hot plate. Could only eat half of the rather large cut, $40 and served with soup or salad, and rice (I upgraded to fried rice). 14 year old ordered Mongolian beef (regular favorite) and sweet and sour pork (new exploration), and ate almost all of it. We also ordered the General Tso Chicken with fried rice upgraded and those three dishes (plus a side of egg rolls) were enough for our four top (two adults, a teen, and a 9 yo), with food leftover for a lunch and enough steak to make a solid breakfast burrito.

Mixed Mushroom & Shrimp in Oyster Sauce Special

According to one of my 'Yelp Elite' colleagues, Vic E this place used to be the Rice Bowl. The Rice Bowl is my family's favorite Chinese Restaurant. They moved their business to Sitka St. I had a craving for Chinese food and thought I'd try out their new location. The wait staff are very friendly and welcoming. They have a special, as of November 2019, that's a Mushroom & Shrimp with Oyster sauce dish. I ordered that. I usually get the Mongolian Chicken, so I thought I'd try something new. The Mushroom & Shrimp didn't disappoint. The sauce was thick & savory with a tad bit of sweetness. I enjoyed it. It came with an egg roll and fried rice. It's well worth the $13.95. The complementary soup they gave me was a thick Egg Drop Chicken Noodle. I really enjoyed it and it warmed my bones. This is a very good place to have Chinese Food, especially on a cold winter day or night. They gave me a fortune cookie with my bill. And since I was by myself, it happened to read "Enjoy your own company. If you don't, who will?" Amen to that! It reminded me of RuPaul's signature quote. "If you can't love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?" Exactly! Thank you, Universe & Rice Garden staff for this lovely meal. You not only feed our bodies, but our hearts & souls.

Breaded almond chicken was amazing and my husband hates Chinese food but he definitely cleaned off his plate. We will be back.

This is the old Rice Bowl on 6th Avenue. I love this place. From their #1 steak in Anchorage to the authentic Chinese food!

A hidden gem worth the hunt!…read more Be careful with Google Maps. It might lead you into a small alleyway that's easy to miss. Keep your eyes peeled! Also, note that Dim Sum is weekend-only. The menu is concise but high quality. Since everything is made fresh, they do run out of items quickly, so get there early! Highlights for me, - Rice Noodle Rolls: Perfectly chewy and soak up the sauce beautifully. - Shu Mai: Classic, savory pork satisfaction. - Egg Tarts: Delicate and not overly sweet. This is a family-run spot that prioritizes tradition and warmth over flashy decor. It feels like a home-cooked meal.

We also got steamed bbq pork bun, Chinese pork sausage steam bun, Xiu Mai, and the red bean paste steak bun. If I came here again I might try some of the other main dishes you can get on the week day but I would definitely get the red bean paste bun and the pork belly bao buns. The meat portion is really two bites and you get two in an order. We also got egg tart for dessert. They were out of a few things including the seasame balls which we would have tried. It was pretty empty when we came, only one other table occupied. The outside kind of fools you because you just park wherever and they also share the building with other tenants. Overall the food was not disappointing, and especially so because you basically can't find this food anywhere else in town.
