The food here was great, with most pho places I wonder "am I going to even get any meat with this meal?" I was pleasantly surprised with lots of meat with my order of the house bowl. I couldn't even finish all of the broth because I was all filled up at the end. My favorites here are the Vietnamese Coffee and Thai Tea, two things all good pho places have but I don't know what this place does differently but both are better here then any other place I've been. I met a girlfriend here on a rainy day a few weeks back. There were buckets on the floor and several booths were unusable due to leaks in the ceiling. I say myself in a booth by the window and was greeted within a few minutes and offered a menu. When my friend arrived, the waiter came back and took our drink order (we never did receive the drinks but were not charged for them either). My friend and I both ordered the chicken pho (7a), add vegetables. I also ordered a house fried rice to-go and my friend ordered the chicken fried rice to-go. The pho took a while because the kitchen ran out of chicken, but we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. When our food arrived, the portions were huge, the broth was flavorful and our dishes were very enjoyable. I took the fried rice to my husband, who liked it overall but felt like it lacked something (he added soy sauce and some chili paste and that helped). Pho was different I think it was missing sugar? Doesn't make it bad or good without it. It did taste more like beef than other Pho that I've tried I'm not an expert on it. I do like Pho. I'm happy to announce not only that my area of central Phoenix now has a Vietnamese restaurant but also that it's a darn good one. The restaurant is squeaky clean, brightly lit, and furnished with an eye for aesthetics. The big video screen displays pleasing images of nature or calming video clips of life in the scenic areas of Vietnam. I couldn't help but notice refined touches here and there: chopsticks and forks tucked into artfully folded napkins, live potted plants, Himalayan pink salt and peppercorns in grinders, and more. The food didn't let me down either. The flavor of the pho I ordered on my first visit was elevated by the inclusion of fragrant spices other Vietnamese restaurants don't usually use for their broth, such as cardamom and a bit of clove, and the beef was Angus round eye. The shaking beef I ordered on my second visit was an umami flavorfest - so good, it is now one of my most favorite Asian dishes. And the scrumptious, tender and succulent lemongrass chicken I ordered on my third visit has definitely made me a really big fan. Finally! A pho place in the North Central area. This place is really good. The inside is small, but extremely clean, friendly staff, and good ambiance.
