I had what should have been a simple one tooth extraction with a dentist who promised he would fill the hole with an implant. After the extraction was completed, he said, he was sorry, but he could not do an implant because the contractor forgot to put in the cadaver bone. He gave me a plastic "bridge" that would not stay in and said he could not do anything better. 3 dentists later, I found Dr. Baldwin. Without hesitation he recommended a permanent bridge which was completed within a week. Since then, I have had a crown replaced and some minor tooth wear completed. I whole heartedly recommend Dr. Baldwin (and his excellent staff) for whatever dental services you need. I highly recommend Dr Baldwin and his entire staff. Nicest people I have met at a dentist office. He has the newest equipment with the 3D tooth modeling. I felt very welcomed by the receptionist and Dr. Baldwin took time to explain everything. Never felt rushed or pressured into extra services like many other dentists do. Dr. did exhibit some technical expertise but that's all I can say that's remotely positive. Worst customer service I've ever encountered in a medical professional's office. Starts with Linda, the individual who answers phone. The Dr. is accountable for his employees. According to Dr. he's never at fault. Children don't take responsibility. If your name is on business & you pay the expenses then you're accountable. When given an opportunity to make the situation right he didn't have enough sense to do that. I gave him that opportunity. I highly recommend Dr Baldwin for dental care. Im nearing 70 years old so I brought him a dental situation with lots of problems I've had since high school. My priorities for care were (1) comfort and (2) how I felt afterwards. I've had 3 very difficult teeth pulled that required extensive extraction and abundant use of anesthetic. He was very thorough to ensure all tooth material was completely removed. He was thorough to ensure adjacent teeth were sound and not additionally involved with problem teeth. He discussed probable outcomes for problem teeth which all became true in the future. Always had a treatment plan, discussed it fully with me, and stuck to it. Always discussed alternatives, avenues to consider, and never felt left in the dark. Marta, his assistant, and Linda, Office Manager, were very skilled, caring, efficient, and very client aware. Linda is very detail-oriented and effective with managing / scheduling client details. Overall, this dentist, staff, and office are the only reason I go to the dentist. I had a choice of paying full cost out of pocket not covered by my insurance or going to an in-network HMO provider near my house and I chose this office, full out of pocket and no reimbursement for the quality of care I have always received. read more

My whole family (myself, wife, daughter and son) have been clients for years. Dr Baldwin is very understanding and takes the time needed for consultation. I just got two crowns and he did a fantastic job. I see some of the reviews of not numbing enough and I am highly surprised. Be advised!! This derelict idiot will leave you in a lot of pain. Twice now he has fouled up my tooth and got it wrong. Between pieces of tooth landing in my eye and not numbing me up enough which led to my yelling out loud to stop, he is absolutely incompetent!! I cannot go back a third time and suffer more. Whatever I have on my tooth at the moment some other dentist will have to correct. I almost ran out of there and believe me, I have a high tolerance for pain. My son lives in Huntington Beach (I live in Denver) and he needed an emergency root canal. Dr. Baldwin was great to fit him into his schedule within a day. His office staff was especially kind to let me know what costs to expect and stayed in touch with me to let me know everything went smoothly. After a crown, he's been back again for routine preventive care and a cleaning. I have only great things to say about this team and am glad they are taking good care of him living out of state! Dr. Baldwin's assistants are great - they are friendly and gentle. I would, however, recommend finding another dentist for both regular dentistry and especially orthodontics. I received my orthodontics from him and my braces were on for 8 years on the bottom and 6 on the top - going to my appointments once a week (a ridiculous amount of time considering my case was not severe). The last time I was there, I left in the middle of getting a cavity filled because the shot was incredibly painful, and it took me a long time to let go of that fear for future cavity fillings elsewhere! Update to my 9/30/14 review: the root canal gone wrong was partially extracted last month. However, my dentist could not get it all as the roots were snapping off during the extraction. He referred me to an oral surgeon who completed the extraction yesterday. I now have bone graft in my jaw, have had to cease my workout routine, will be healing for the next 4 months and am in a lot of discomfort. Both my dentist said it was a poorly done root canal and the surgeon said there was too much material used in yhe roots. I did call an attorney today but cannot do anything due to statute of limitations but it all originated with Baldwin's root canal. I will be filing a complaint with the dental board, no one should have to experience this especially 12 years later. Feel free to contact me with any questions. read more

DO NOT GO TO DR. BALDWIN!! He completely messed up my teeth, costs me hundreds of dollars/pain/and time. I was new in town and looking for a doctor nearby to get a cavity filled. I should have definitely done my research before I went. I told him about some pain that I was having and after examining my teeth he decided that yes I had a cavity and needed a filling but he also wanted to re-do 2 other fillings - not because they had cavities - just to redo them!?! The teeth he worked on were on all different areas in my mouth and he decided to work on all three teeth in one visit - which later I found out, no good dentist does. After an extremely painful and uncomfortable process I went home and a few hours after the numbing wore off I went to take a bite and had the most extreme discomfort from biting down! Two of my teeth were feeling extremely sensitive to bite and temperature. I went in the next day to get them fixed and he stated it was normal and filed the filling down to adjust my bite. I left not feeling right and the next time I ate - same thing -extreme pain. After continual back and forth of telling him I was in extreme pain he kept saying to give it a few days and would only work on my bite. After a few weeks of being in pain and giving my fillings some "time" as he recommended, I went back fed up and he said he would try adjusting the bite one more time and if it still hurts he would redo the filling and put in a barrier between the tooth and the filling with a substance that he was told not to use on patients fillings - he literally told me that - this guy I'm telling you. So fed up I went to another dentist - who was amazing by the way and did a very thorough job of figuring out what went wrong with the fillings and noted that Dr. Baldwin did not pay close attention to detail during the fillings - my new dentist noted that I had pockets in my fillings that can eventually cause bacteria to get in there and the tooth to decay -great! That wasn't the source of my pain though, Dr. Baldwin had drilled too deep into the tooth and hit a nerve! He had placed the filling right on the nerve which was causing me extreme pain and discomfort. So after almost two months of this back and forth with dentists and all of this pain, my new dentist has said that one of my teeth is inflamed because the filling was on the nerve of my tooth and that I may need a root canal. Needless to say, I will never be going to Dr. Baldwin's again and I will be submitting a grievance to my insurance company complaining that Dr. Baldwin did not do a good job on my teeth and has caused me this pain and teeth issues. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!! read more

Awesome. I went in with a broken tooth, exposing the filling and my gum. He numbed it, drilled out the broken filling and put on a temporary crown. Went back two weeks later(today) and got the permanent crown on. He said gum almost completely healed. He does not mess around, no X-rays and cleaning prior to repair. Got right down to business and fixed it! I was so happy with him, his assistant Martha and the staff. Going back for my exam and cleaning on April 7! Had a really bad experience with a porcelain crown. The temp crown was painful but when I finally received a full crown - permanent - it was even worse! Did not fit at all and was digging into my gums. I had to have it removed, a new temp put on, and another permanent. Many appointments and a lot of discomfort!!! Then to top it off they screwed up on my billing and hadn't kept track of my payments accurately so I had to sort that all out. Worst dental experience EVER! read more

I had a severely abscessed tooth and was new in town. I searched for a dentist within my neighborhood and came across Dr. Richard Baldwin. He was able to see me immediately. I was seen as soon as I entered the waiting room. The Dr. diagnosed me with an abscessed tooth which had an infection spread to my sinus cavity. He was very clear and gentle when explaining my condition. I was prescribed an antibiotic and a pain medication. My case was a severe one and the pain and swelling was not letting up much. Two days later after the swelling was not improving and the pain was not improving I needed to call the Dentist again. I attempted to call Dr. Baldwin during off hours. I was directed to his answering service. I was put in touch with the Dr. and he began contacting my pharmacy to alter my medication to improve my pain issues as well as to increase my antibiotic dose. I am now recovering and the pain is manageable. Very cost effective, personal and there in need of an emergency. 5 Stars! -John Z. read more

I was referred to this office by a friend of mine. I think Dr Baldwin is the last of his generation. The generation of doctors who practice for love of practicing and not just love of money. He is calm, gentle, and he will walk you through every single step of procedure. I'm 40 and I have seen many dental offices and dentists. By far this is one the best dental offices. I have been trying to find the right dentist & was never happy with my previous dentists visits. I was born in England and when I got to the States my teeth were in pretty BAD shape. Other dentists suggested that dentures would be the best, easiest & sometimes...the only way to go..! Dr Baldwin showed me MY options & replace the decaying teeth with porcelain crowns. I am utterly shocked he is anything less than 5 stars. Only dentist I know who explains every step of the process. I knew what to expect when I got my crowns. I got an estimate before the work was done so no hidden charges. He is also EXCELLENT with my daughter. They work with your budget. office staff is kind and charming. His hygienist/assistant is super sweet. you cannot "mess up" a root canal. that's silly. they take out your entire root period. After you get your crown there is a period of adjustment. If you don't know what to expect it can seem like something must be wrong. At first it is very painful and uncomfortable (at least from my experience) But trust me to the person below you will start feeling better. But he is always there for you and will take you last minute no problems. He has late and early appointments. They also call to remind you of appointments (which is great because I have a terrible memory). I would HIGHLY recommend. read more

Simply terrific service! Dr. Baldwin has been my dentist for the past 6 years. Both himself and his staff are easy to communicate with and very accessible. The other day, I woke up to see a black speck on the tip of my left front tooth. I tried using toothpaste on my finger to get it off but it was not moving. I was a little concerned considering my teeth look pretty good. At noon that day, I called in and Linda (front office) answered immediately and said for me to come in right away. I get there and go straight into the chair. No waiting. Dr. Baldwin told me it was just food material that got under my bonding (it has been replaced 2 times in 35 years and due to be done again). It was a relief. He fully explained what happened and within 10 minutes it was fixed. (I still need the bonding done but it is not noticeable now). He spent a lot of time with me explaining everything. His staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I have read some of the other negative posts and wonder if they are talking about the right dentist.
