Moved here from NJ, so had to get a SMOG certificate for my wife's car. They offered a Yelp discount, so I went with them. You have to mention the Yelp discount when you make the appointment and I think it is around $30, I don't remember. Then made an appointment to get my brakes done, David called me up to tell my one of my rotors was cracked and had to be replace. He gave me my options for replacement OEM or generic and I went with whatever he could get the quickest which was generic. The job was done the same day! Totally satisfied with their honest and quick service. They even showed me the cracked rotor when I went to pick up the car. Not the cheapest place, but really good quality, I can't complain. There is not really a good waiting room area, just a small office, but it is only a 10 min walk to Tanforan Mall. It's really street parking, or you can take a risk and park across the street in the hardware store parking lot. read more

I made an appointment to come here to get a noise diagnosed. When I got there they had someone standing at the front of the garage to greet me and point me to the office. Must be a new guy cuz I haven't seen him before. But a GREETER at a car repair shop? Now this is service! Or maybe it was just a slow day. They found the noise in minutes which would have probably took me several days troubleshooting underneath jackstands on my own, for that I'm grateful. Later that week I ordered new tires from Tire Rack and had them installed with no problems. The reason I do Tire Rack / Independent Installer is that Costco won't install anything other than the stock sizes. Plus on Tire Rack, you can read the reviews, specs, and ratings on dozens of tires that fit your car. I've been going to Richard's for a few years and on my boyfriend's recommendation. His family takes all of their cars to Richard's and they've done outstanding work. Their rates are VERY reasonable and they've recently gotten in an alignment rack that's lowered car friendly. I've come to them for tire mounting and balancing, changing out a 4-point chassis brace, transmission fluid drain and fill, and I forget what else. I went in to see Barry today with my Infiniti G25. The car has 36,000 miles and the brakes just started some minor squealing. Barry performed a road test and then inspected the brakes. He told me everything was fine with the brakes and to disregard the ccasional minor squeal. He also rotated my tires and gave me a few recommendations for future service in about 6 months. BAD EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!! LEARN FROM MY ERRORS. I took my car to repair. My car was shaking. They charged me about $145.00 for the diagnostic and $540. for alignments. After I took my car from their shop I noticed the car is not working properly. The car broke down in front of Arco station. Mechanic in the Arco station told me that someone sabotaged my radiator. Because of the radiator problem the transmission went busted. It cost more than $4000.00 to fix it. fortunely, my insurance paid the repair cost. I believe that when their mechanic was test driving my car he drove the car over a carve and damaged the radiator. I confronted them regarding the said problem, at first they accepted their liabilities but then they made fun on me, they laughed at me. They called the police for this matter. The officer gave me a note for my insurance company and he informed me that I should report them to you. in other words, you can not trust them. read more

They were not able to align my car. They never test drove my car before the pick up to check for alignment. They were extremely helpful in re-aligning my car, swapping tires, etc, but the fact is that their alignment equipment was not able to properly align my German car. I took it to a dealer after and the dealer realigned it for me, and indicated that the car as recently aligned was out of spec. My car's camber was out of spec and I had to install bolts to fix it, something that Richard's could not have done in the first place as it is out of their expertise according tot hem. Bottom line: Friendly guys, helpful, but they think they can do it all. Some cars require special considerations, like mine did, and so I needed to take it to an authorized dealer for it to be aligned properly. I would give them 5 stars for effort, but giving them 2 stars becuase they do not know their limitations and they could have saved me a lot of trouble/refunded part of my money as they were unable to align my car. I would have given them 1 star, but they are nice guys, which is why I give them 2. read more

He informed me I had about 75% brake pad wear and average tire life span is 35,000-40,000 miles and noticed one tire has somewhat low tread. The only thing I did not like with this shop is the diagnostic fee which is way too much even if they already know what's wrong with your car they would require a diagnostic procedure, an additional to parts and labor total cost. Operated by two young guys, both of whom seem to totally know their stuff, and they're very friendly as well. I've had them work on my A/C and clutch and have been very happy with the service; price is much less than you'd pay at a dealer. I think their focus is on transmissions and brakes but I think they'll cover just about anything except body work. came here to replace tires that i bought from tirerack as they were a preferred vendor of theirs. with alignment it was done in 1.5 hrs while i waited and used their wifi and grabbed a burrito down the street at taqueria san bruno. they started work on it right away and service was good. i didnt shop around too much but price seemed decent and its on the tirerack site although because it was a bmw and run flat tires, there were extra charges here and there but they mentioned it was because its a bmw. read more

Came here for a pre purchase inspection on a used Toyota Yaris. David was able to get us in the same day, and immediately got to work! He took it on a test drive, popped it up on the rack, checked all the fluids, and everything else in-between that was on his lengthy checklist. At the end of the inspection, he gave us a wonderful detailed report verbally as well as a copy of the checklist he used, and a typed report of his findings. I need to place another comment since taking my Camry in just to replace a head lamp, I just took my RAV in to find out if it was the alternator or battery which needed to be replaced. After reading all the positive reviews on yelp I decided to try out Richard's Auto Repair. So far I've been VERY pleased! I've brought my car in twice now - the first time was for my 60,000 mile check-up, and the second time to get my brakes worked on. Both times I received an honest estimate, fast call-backs, and quality/fast workmanship. I used to pay twice as much for oil changes/tune-ups at the dealer, so I'm happy to have found a place that I feel is trustworthy.
