After sending a letter to SDCCU I was contacted by Paula (NFD) and she advised me that whoever…read morereviewed my POA and the Death Certificate was wrong and that the documents provided were okay and that I could now come in and be added to the account and close it if need be. The next day I went into the Oceanside Branch and spoke with Lupe and she was very professional and extremely helpful. I was added to the account as a POA and then the account was closed.

My review is not about a specific branch, but about SDCCU's unethical banking and lending…read morepractices. I had a credit score of 723 and was promised a car loan at 3.00% APR. After I found my vehicle a week later, the bank suddenly claimed their "internal percentages" had changed my rate would now be 4.5%. I felt cornered and went ahead with the loan. Nearly four years later, with my loan almost paid off, I moved and filed a change of address with USPS. My June payment was made, but I missed July's payment. By August 5th, SDCCU had frozen my checking account where my direct deposit funds were still coming in, but I couldn't access or transfer any money, even to pay the car note linked to the same account. I tried calling multiple times but was kept on hold endlessly. I assumed it was a system glitch. A few days later, I walked outside and my car was gone. After calling 911, I was told it had been repossessed with no notice, no calls, no warning. After four years of on-time payments, SDCCU repossessed my car over one missed month. When I went to the branch in shock, my account was still frozen. The branch manager only unfroze it after I paid over $600 in repossession fees, plus the missed payment. The bank has refused to provide a copy of default notices sent or itemized statement of fees. They cannot provide this because I was only one month behind. To make matters worse, the tow company damaged my vehicle so badly that it became undrivable. I had the dealership repair it and sent the invoice to SDCCU only to discover that SDCCU owns the same recovery company responsible for the damage. When I contacted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, SDCCU denied all responsibility. SDCCU is not a trustworthy institution. Their lack of transparency, unethical lending changes, and predatory repossession tactics show how little they value their customers even long-term members in good standing.

I have had nothing but positive experiences borrowing money (thru a payday loan) from this…read morebusiness. My best suggestion -if you are a new customer- is to call in first to make sure you bring in all the documents you'll need to start the process of applying for a payday loan. You can borrow between $100-$255. Mind you, this IS a business so the interest rate on the loans are high. That being said, if you can **borrow money from a friend or family member** DO IT bc that will save you from paying the interest rate. Today I borrowed $255 and I will have to pay back $300 on the last day of the month (when I get paid). Since I just borrowed money 2 months ago I just had to show my most recent bank statement - which you can request from your bank in person OR you can access thru your bank's online banking system. If you call the business over the phone they can help walk you through it so you can find your statement, email it in PDF form then email it to them. Do NOT try to get a payday loan if you don't have a job or I can tell you right now you'd be better off holding a sign begging for change on a street corner. This service is for people who can pay back the loan. I want to add is that this store no longer does personal loans, probably bc everyone is broke bc of COVID so that's not a gamble this business can afford to make. The last thing I'd like to mention and ~what separates this spot from other payday loan places~ is that they have always let me loan out the max amount, whereas other places can treat you like a criminal and only let you borrow $100. I highly recommend this business. 5 stars all the way!

SERVICE DEPARTMENT REVIEW - This isn't meant to blast the good folks in service, more of a…read moresuggestion. Clearly someone needs to be in charge of greeting customers as they pull into the drive and wait to be assisted. Unfortunately, not one person made eye contact or even acknowledged that I was there. It's awkward just standing there feeling ignored while waiting for help. The valet guys were mostly standing around looking at their phones. A simple "Hello, someone will be right with you" would have gone a long way. Once I was finally assisted, the staff was great and very professional, so this really comes down to first impressions. Customer service starts the moment a customer arrives. Hiring a greeter -- or simply encouraging staff to acknowledge customers and SMILE -- would make a huge difference.

I have a 2025 Tacoma that was purchased about 14 months ago, well within the Toyota Care limit and…read morethe manufactures warranty. On my last scheduled service, I told the technician that the front windows have screeched ever since I bought the vehicle. He looked at it during the service, said he knew what the problem most likely was and furthermore, that's it's a commonly known defect with Toyotas windows. Despite all of this, I would have to make a separate appointment to have them officially looked at. I went in today for my appointment and was immidiately told I had to pay a $200 inspection fee. When I objected, they said it's technically only signing for liability, and if they determine the issue was due to "external forces" then I'd have to pay the fee. So essentially they can determine anything at all is wrong with the vehicle outside of Toyotas control and I'd have to pay. So despite the issue being present since purchase, me having documented conversations with a technician who knows the problem, and the fact that you can literally hear the window screech up and down as I talk to the employees, they want me liable for $200. What's the point of 2 years of Toyota Care and a warranty if you have to pay to use it?
