We were in town visiting and deciding to pass on brunch and go for a donut for breakfast instead. Definitely the better choice, if you ask me. Even better that we decided to come here for a donut..or 2 or 4. I had a chocolate raised and he had chocolate bar. We ate them on site on Sunday morning. We both found the donuts delicious. Not a trace of friedness/grease. It was all fluffy heavenly delight. For the road, I chose a blueberry cake and husband ordered a chocolate old fashioned. They were also very good. Richard's Donuts has the best donuts in Bend. I especially like the cake donuts and chocolate bars. The donuts are pretty big and filling, something to keep in mind if you are buying more than one. The bakery is warm and inviting. Easy access off Highway 97. The employees have always been great (I have been there a couple times per year for the last few years but have never written a review). The most recently that I was there was last summer, and one thing I would note for sure is that they do not take card. If this has changed in the last few months, I apologize, and that information is incorrect. Customer service isn't just about being kind when you're interacting with a customer, it's also the care of the product. The quality of the food is fine. But the people who box the donuts up are inconsiderate and do not think about the person receiving the product. Your customer could be going thru literally anything and maybe a dang donut was supposed to be a special treat only for it to be ruined by stacking donuts ontop of each other rather than placing them flat in the box (when there was plenty of adequate space to do this). And idk maybe dont put the most meltable donuts on the bottom?? Why wouldn't you put a powdered or plain donut on the bottom and stack the chocolate meltable donuts atop those? Literally 0 logic and consideration is used in the packaging process for togo customers. read more

I absolutely love this place! They're cash only, so fair warning but they do have an atm inside. You can't tell from the photo but the donuts are extra big and extra long. We went at 3pm and they close at 4pm so I figured they wouldn't be that fresh but they were so fluffy and amazing. They also gave us a few extra donuts for the holidays, which was so thoughtful of them. They still had people coming after us so they're definitely popular for a reason. The cherry French donut on the far bottom left was my favorite, their apple fritter was perfectly crispy and their old fashioned donuts were flavorful and not dry at all compared to other places with old fashioneds. No need to go fancy when it comes to donuts, they've got all the staples. Sisters coffee too! And the people who work there are friendly and hard working. I've lived in Portland for eight years. These are by far the best donuts I've had in OR. This is a no frills donut shop. We we didn't come here for the experience or Instagram worthy treats - we just wanted good donuts! Super fresh, classic style donuts. I love me a classic donut. I know the current trend is to make them as hipster as possible: rosemary and sand, bubble bath and molasses. Ha. But when it comes to donuts, it's a perfect example of if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Alas, I don't live in Bend to experience Richard's more often. But when I'm in town, I make sure to visit. My favorite donut is the lemon-filled. They pretty much slice it in half and ladle in the tart filling before dusting it with a bunch of powdered sugar. Pillowy with a slight crunchy crust, this donut is one of my top EVER for a lemon delight! Dozen donuts of basic yeast or cake with or without glazing will run you about $9.50. And it's worth it. They throw in a couple of donut holes just because. I loved the blueberry cake donut and the chocolate glazed as well. They only take cash. No cards. So save up your paper ducats and use them on these donuts. You won't be disappointed! read more

Absolutely the best doughnuts in the area. Also a fantastic selection, even late in the day! My personal favorite is their blueberry cake doughnut. I am not normally a fan of cake doughnuts, but these are moist, tender, and not iced so not too sweet. That being said, everything we've tried here has been very good. So sweet. No really, really sweet. The person at the counter was so nice she even threw an extra glazed donut in with our order. My go-to donut is always the maple bar and this one was just right. It was also about 1/4 larger than your average donut. They offer a traditional selection of donuts and we enjoyed a variety of old-fashioned and cake donuts. They have all the standards. Selection pretty much unchanged going back to childhood- that's a long time Richards is consistently good donuts clean and friendly staff. Serve Sisters Coffee which I love to see local support. Hands down the BEST maple bar in all of America!!!! We stumbled on this gem of a donut shop as we were traveling through Oregon heading home from a long road trip. My dad loves his donuts so I used good old Yelp to find a suitable donut shop with decent ratings to hopefully meet his strangely high expectations for donuts and coffee. Richard's Donuts had excellent service, was very easy to find, we ordered cake donuts for further down the road to dip in coffee and of course the infamous maple bars. All I want to know is do they ship??? The maple glaze is maple goodness, not gooey, not messy, but perfectly made and it hardens well on the donut unlike many other donut shops. The donut has a wonderful dough that has a slight crisp on the outside but so slight it's perfect to hold that maple glaze. Inside the dough is incredibly soft and airy with a touch of sweet. They have CRULLERS!!! So many donuts shops don't have these anymore. But Richards doesn't stopped at glazed, they even have crullers with flavored frosting too. The vanilla frosted cruller is exceptional. If you have never had a cruller they are a very fluffy doughnut that is mostly air and magic inside. It almost melts in your mouth like cotton candy. They also have a whole bunch of other delicious doughnuts. This place does an exceptional job at the classics. It reminds me of getting doughnuts with my Grandma.
