This place reminds me of those old school diners. The food is good and prices are standard to the times. The server was very sweet. Everyone seemed nice.I tried the waffle. It was delicious. My husband had the chicken fried steak with gravy. He said the steak was a little over cooked. He still ate it. He likes it juicy inside with a crispy crust. Great place for breakfast! Traveling through we stopped at this place for breakfast. From the outside it looked packed (lots of cars) but the inside was much larger than it looks. Highly recommend. This was our first time dining at Richplate Restaurant and Cafe in Lockeford. We had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and grilled veggies, split pea soup, and pancakes, hashbrowns, and eggs. The portions were large. The soup was excellent. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. Coffee was very good as well. Everything, including the fried chicken, grilled veggies, and mashed potatoes were better than average. Here is my review. I'm coming back. Servers are great. Received my coffee within 45 seconds sitting down, quickly took my order. The egg plates come with three eggs and omelettes are made with 4. Serving was huge, I don't think I'll finish it. I normally eat sourdough bread, but took a chance with the homage biscuits, some butter and honey, it was delicious. The place was very inviting when we went in. We were passing through and stopped there to have brunch. We both had omelettes and shared a Belgian waffle. We stopped here for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. They serve breakfast all day. I had a blt and my husband had a hamburger. The sandwiches came with clam chowder that was very good. I was waiting in line at Lockford Sausage this morning and wanted to look at their menu. The waitress at counter was very friendly and recommended a few dishes. Richplate is a nice plate and normally is good but the steak and meatloaf last night was awful. Steak was tuff and chewy and meatloaf was two patties that tasted like veggie patties with gravy out of a can. I brought home to dog and she wouldn't eat it. so sad read more

Coming back from Somerset on Labor Day Monday we decided to stop and have breakfast at Richplate. We've been past it dozens of times and it was 1 of 2 diners open at 7:15 am on a holiday. What a pleasant surprise! We walked in with a local cowboy/rancher that was meeting up with his buddies for coffee and the local gossip. Kaitlyn greeted us, and pointed to the board for the breakfast specials. They have an extensive menu for B-L-D. I had the huevos rancheros and the Hubs had the Texas French toast. Both came out quickly as the diner was starting to fill up. Kaitlyn took everything in stride and attended to everyone without missing a beat! Cheerful, friendly and enthusiastic and we even found out her grandfather has a middle school named after him in San Ramon! The food was delicious and satisfying! Not only do they use all the Lockeford sausages from across the street for breakfast and lunch, they are now serving dinner Wed to Sat (or maybe Sunday?). Huge portions and friendly service. Great place for breakfast. The food and service were excellent. I enjoyed the small town locals vibe of the diner as well. Prices weren't bad but could be a little cheaper at least when it comes to add-ons or upgrades. I ordered their payday omelette which was huge and they gave me a generous helping of potatoes. I upgraded to 1/2 a cinnamon apple waffle which was great but not sure it was worth an extra $5.49. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area though to try their lunch and dinner options. read more

Stopped by here for breakfast today. It was busy for a Monday which is usually a good sign. Our server was very nice and super attentive. We'd no sooner take a drink than she would refill the cup! I wasn't feeling like breakfast today so I ordered lunch. I had the BLTA with fries which came with a cup of their creamy chicken and wild rice soup. This soup was DELICIOUS! My sandwich was good and the fries were crispy and hot. Hubby had the chicken fried steak and eggs and he said he had no complaints. The restaurant is clean. Drove out here to go to the Lockeford Meat and Sausage shop across the street. We had to wait in line for a while and my nephew got hungry so after leaving the meat and sausage shop we walked across the street to give this place a try. The ambiance was out dated. The service was good and the food was tasty. I ordered an omelet called "Hwy 88" they use the sausage from across the street in this omelet. There was a few people that had came in, they seemed like locals and heard them ask for the Hwy 88. After hearing the locals ordering the same thing I ordered, I felt like i made the right decision. My nephew ordered the strawberry pancakes and a side of country potatoes. He liked what he ordered. The omelet I got was good, but........ some of the egg had that brown spots and it was a lil over cooked. The way they made the omelet i had never had it like that. It was folded like 3 or 4 time and when u cut down on it wit your fork you could see all the egg nicely folded. As Gayle and I were meandering down CA Highway 88 (on the way to the Bay Area), we figured that Lockford would be a timely place to have Lunch. Most of the time Lockford is a place we passed through, unless we were stocking up at the nearby Meat and Sausage place (the one with the line out the door). We picked Richplate on the strength of their online reviews, put we needed to hurray as this is primarily an early breakfast (open at 5 AM) to a late lunch joint (closes at 3 PM). Road trip never seem to break for Lunch right at noon, and often go considerably later. One advantage of a late lunch here is that we were so full that our subsequent dinner at Melo's in Pleasant Hill was also comfortably late and featuring smaller portions. Rich Plate's Breakfast menu is impressively large, as are the Lunch choices featuring the usual suspects. The bonus for us is that there's a nice Mediterranean section of which I went for the Gyros Sandwich, while Gayle opted for the Chicken Lemonato. That included a really delicious potato soup as appetizers, and more than generous oh so delicious portions. We washed all that down with water and lemonade, as adult beverages were not offered. What I liked even better than the great food, was the downhome diner atmosphere, the diversity of clientele, and the waitress (and owner?) who managed it all with a welcoming smile, kind service, and a no nonsense approach. And when she said, "see you next time" as we left, Gayle and I both immediately replied that we definitely would. read more

We consistently make trips to Lockeford for Lockeford Meat, then eat at Richplate after. We parked in front and went to walk into Lockeford sausage, then to come back and eat. A server from inside Richplate came out SCREAMING at us for parking there. Keep in mind, my wife and 3 year old were sitting in the car waiting for me to come back, then to eat. Didn't ask if we planned to eat there, just began screaming. Will not eat there again if that's how they treat potential customers, we consistently would eat there multiple times a month.
