My friend, a girl in her early 20s wanted something to eat around 1am and she didn't feel the normal options of Taco Bell and Perkins. She decided Rick's was the best option for late night food. I reluctantly agreed and drove us downtown from SLP. Neither of us had been there before but we assumed they had late night food given the nature of the establishment. We arrived around 2am. I used a coupon on the Yelp app which gave free cover if you checked in at Rick's (hence why I felt the need to write this review). The front desk girl nor the manager were aware of the deal but they did honor it. A friendly host sat us close to the stage. Being my first time in an adult establishment, I carefully observed how the whole place worked. My friend ended up ordering chicken tenders which seemed like a a safe bet. We ordered a few drinks and I saw things that I won't soon forget. Most of which, I don't want to. The girls were pretty in my opinion and I got a decent show without paying anything. No one asked if we wanted a dance but I'm actually happy we weren't pressured into anything like I've of heard of happening at other similar places. It took a while for the tenders to come out but there are worse places in the world to be stuck for a while. According to my friend, the tenders were decent (the sole reason for the trip and that's what I'm telling my mom). I can't leave a much of the review for the quality of the girls and their dances. Terrible.. I'm a restaurant bar owner myself. They literally stole my money when asking for change. The bartender and bouncer were useless in controlling their environment. When asked about my money being exchanged they kicked me out the venue protecting the tainted employee. Never ever come to this environment when searching for entertainment. Went to celebrate my birthday with a couple of the fellas . The door greeter was very respectful and considerate. Other than that, the dancers were greedy as hell. Literally had to sit on my money because one of the dancers was reaching as if I didn't see while I was getting the dance, attempting to just take the money. Then four dancers came over and sat in. Our section didn't crack a smile. I asked them to leave my session. They wouldn't kept asking for shots. Then there was about 10 strippers in one section and I see about $50 being thrown. The awareness in this club is Little to none take care of people spending good money first.! literally spent about 3000 on the ladies trying to support the city, felt like straight extortion. I wonder highly recommend for everyone to stay away from this place. A friend and I went to Rick's not too long ago and we grabbed our seats. We were there for about 2 minutes and was harassed by a waitress because we didn't want to order drinks. We paid hard earned money to see a great show, but we ended up leaving 5 minutes after being there because they were trying to force us to doing something neither one of us wanted to do. Got a couple free passes so me, my friend, and his brother went to check this place out. All the girls were attractive, but the prices for pretty much any liquor item besides beer were asininely expensive. We ended up getting a couple free Honduran cigars from the check-in lady, which we smoked on the back patio with a couple other guys and about 10 of the strippers. Eventually, being the loaded group we were, my buddy go a dance in the back room for a couple hundred and his brother and I sat in the main area, not really getting accosted by strippers, which was a welcome surprise. When our friend came back, some random Egyptian? guy needed to finish his Grey Goose bottle service by midnight and bought us a couple rounds of Silver Patron also. He got us a few lap dances, and said by the end of the night he blew $2,200. Insane. Overall it is a clean and legit establishment, yet I don't know why they constantly give out free passes. Been here twice, it wasn't a good experience either time. We came for a bachelor party. Key points: We ended up paying outrageous amounts for bottle service and had waitresses clearing half-full glasses and ended up clearing our table while we were in the bathroom. When you pay hundreds for a bottle of Jameson, it's frustrating to have them dump it. The staff is horribly rude and disrespectful. We had a friend not receive his credit card and ID back after a private dance. He realized it after close so the next day, we tried to call. We left a message on their web site and never got a call back. They answered and hung up with no correspondence. We ended up going there to work out the situation and the doorman just asked us to leave. Would I go back? Probably not. My boyfriend got us and some friends a VIP package for my birthday and I was so excited for this! Unfortunately, I was rather disappointed. First, let's talk about the parking. We had called and confirmed that there was valet parking. It's cold, no one wants to park in a ramp and walk. We were told there was valet throughout the night. Fast forward, we get there and the bouncer said that they don't have valet available because the managers took all of the parking. He explicitly said, "Rick's pays for it, so they usually park there." That's crappy. But of course, the manager didn't care. He showed us to our VIP area and we sat down. Then here come the servers. Their attitudes were awful. I can't even count how many eyerolls we got from them on my fingers and my toes. This is the place you come to if you want to spend $185 on a $20 bottle of champagne that will just be consumed by the dancers. Another note, don't buy the dancers any drinks. They will rack up your tab without warning. We agreed to buy a shot for one dancer and she continued ordering drinks from the server and they were going on our tab. The server didn't even confirm with us. Before we knew it, there went $125. Not to mention, their drinks are crazy expensive. We closed our tab after $500 and the dancers disappeared. LOL. The main stage doesn't have a pole. It's awkward. It's a mess. A couple of the dancers were nice to chat with and engaged with our group. A few other dancers were rude. Honestly not a fan of this place. I hate to say it, but there are better clubs that have better experiences and reasonably priced drinks. Oh, and the manager on duty should find a job in another industry. After we explained our not to great experience, he said, "That's too bad. Goodnight!" and pushed us out the door. Trash. If you are black, you will not be treated equally here. Rick's Cabaret has a standing policy of using artificial dress code tactics in order to deny entry to black men. Once you enter, the mood from the staff is cold, and it seems as if everyone was told, "Don't be nice to them whatever you do!" Even the girls are lukewarm. It's pretty nice inside, not trashy and gross like most gentlemen's clubs. However, they only have one stage most of the time -- apart from a very small one that would only get used on weekends if necessary. The girls tend to be more on the tacky side when it comes to giving you attention, they also tend to stick with one guy for a very long time or wander aimlessly through the club hanging out with their friends instead of working. In my point of view, I shouldn't have to get the entertainers attention - they should get mine. It's like going to McDonalds and having the cashier just stand there instead of helping you. The managers are liars and cheaters that will take money not only from customers, but the entertainers as well. No dancer is valued there. The managers and waitresses both will be sweet to you and your customer but little do you know they take your money and pocket it as tips by the end of the night. Then tell you that "you got your cut" as if you were all entertaining the customer. Just signed in to write a review on Ricks, which was overall pretty fun. Nice waitress, staff was fine, pretty girls, overall it was fine, the one star relates to the fact that my friends and I appear to have been roofied by what we think was a dancer. We went to the place around 11 o'clock at night, got a table and bottle service, group of 4 guys. Nobody has a memory after about 12 o'clock and while we have all been to bars and clubs plenty of times, none of us have ever gotten that drunk that quickly or actually blacked out (no memories). The last thing we remember was talking about how we really had started drinking late and weren't very intoxicated. The next thing we remember is waking up on the hotel room floor. Nice place, but if you're spending alot of money, watch your drinks and don't all go to the bathroom or to get a dance at once, always make sure somebody is there to watch your stuff. Or just leave one sober person to be in charge of watching it at all times. We don't think it was the club staff, as they were courteous and even did us some favors, we suspect it was a dancer. First off, the service was horrible and the staff was not friendly at all. I asked for 40 1s, they told me I had to give them the cash before they showed me the 40, 1 dollar bills. That was bullshit. They acted like I was going to rip them off, even though they had bouncers/cameras.......how the fuck would I rip them off (I am a customer)......then, I spent cash in the club, but I kept getting harassed by low class strippers. (If I want a dance, I'll ask)......once 2am rolled around, my buddy and I were waiting for a ride, right out front of the club. I'm giving Rick's a one star rating because of one reason. THE MANAGER. A group of friends and I have gone there a few times and each experience has gotten progressively worse. Don't get me wrong, the girls are great, but the daytime manager makes you feel so uncomfortable, you can't even enjoy yourself. Every time I turned around she was watching us all like a hawk, and not to mention she kept pushing us to get bottles! I have never felt so uneasy and truthfully threatened by someone at a supposed (professional) establishment, because she was anything but. We were not very impressed, in fact blown away by what we witnessed. Our group was on a party bus for a bachelor party on 10/25 at about 12:00. Most everyone went in, I stayed on the bus with a few other people. We watched the bouncers (at least 6 of them) walk two guys out of the club and past the end of their property on the public sidewalk. Words were exchanged and the bouncers turned to walk away, except one of the bouncers, an older bald white guy punched one of the guys with no provocation. The guy who got punched was knocked out and split his head open on the concrete. The amazing thing about it is the bouncer and the owner or manager denied it. What really blows my mind is that myself and multiple others saw what happened and we spoke with Minneapolis' finest stating what we saw and nothing was done. The police did not take any of our information instead I saw the Police speaking with the bouncer that did it and laughing. And you wonder why people have distrust for the police. I have no idea what happened inside to lead up to this, however if it was that egregious the police should have been called by Ricks and the victim arrested instead of sent to the hospital. The actions of the bouncers and the police were unbelievable. If this is the type of business you would like to support keep going there otherwise there are plenty of other places to go that you do not have to worry about the employees sending you to the hospital. read more
