We both had the buttermilk chicken sandwich. They were absolutely dripping and soaked with watery cole slaw to the degree that my bun disintegrated. Fries were decent. The watermelon mojito was disgustingly sweet. The bow Thai (like a mai Thai) was also pure sugar. It was CLEAR so I am not sure how this was even remotely the drink it should be. The beers were fine. The mobile ordering was terrible, they claim it's for sustainable serving but yet they use plastic cups , by creating an account you have to include your credit card and agree to a 20% "restaurant fee" before knowing what kind of service your going to get. Our service was lousy, no dedicated server, no water refills without flagging someone down, that said, the food was excellent, they are really doing themselves a disservice by continuing the terrible mobile ordering. A nice menu, where you can compare multiple items at once just can't be replaced by technology. The BIG surprise is when you are checking out on your phone, there's a 20% "service fee" tacked on. This is NOT a tip, but rather goes to the overhead of the business. We went back this past summer to see what Rick's is like today and the experience was disappointing to say the least. Service: Slow; inexperienced server with attitude of indifference. Food: Below average in quality and taste. Typical American pub food without much creativity. Cost: Exceeds value. $ 13.00 for a burger, which was minuscule is outrageous. Venue: No vibe/aura; dirty. I just want to say that I'm sick of apps. Here is another restaurant that has switched to no cash and you have to use your phone to place an order. Why do I need to use my phone at a restaurant? I'm here to interact with people not stare at my phone for 10 minutes looking at a menu. Where is the personal touch? Non existent. Our annual visit to the lakes region in Maine and I was in the mood for a lobster roll and my wife wanted a lake view. This was perfect option for us! We arrived around 715 and sat on the outdoor patio (no bugs, slightly warmer in the patio than outdoors which was good, no wind) and enjoyed a beautiful sunset view on Long Lake in Naples, Maine. I love the REAL palm trees they have in the front of the store in Maine and the decor. There are TVs in the main restaurant if you want to watch the game. The service was excellent! The Lobster roll ($16) was VERY VERY good (but i have to admit I am probably not the one to judge these as this was my very first one). This came with fries (I believe there are other side options) but no onion rings. My wife had the burger and she enjoyed every bite. My son had the full belly clam plate ($26) which came with fries and coleslaw (which I ate and was quite tasty). For a beverage had the Maine local IPA brew ($8 for a small glass) which was very good. My wife had the raspberry frozen cocktail and was not happy with it. She sent it back and then fixed it (added more booze) but she wasn't happy with the lack of raspberry flavor but drank it none the less. Absolutely LOVE Ricks new mobile ordering system. You don't ever need to wait for a server to reorder a drink, just add a refill on your phone!! LOL at some of these one track mind reviews afraid to use their phone. You can use it all day long but freak at the thought of "having it at the table" at a restaurant but you will end up being on it anyways. I encourage everyone to have an open mind at a new concept. Not a fan of the only option for ordering and paying being through an app that requires your email and phone number to even look at a menu....you have to pay with a card, there is no cash option. Ordered a beer and 2 strawberry basil martinis. It was as if the bartender made one martini and split into two glasses. One wasn't full and the other had even less, with only half of the glass full. We came here as a group of 29 and wish we had read the reviews first because they're 100% right. First off, we had called ahead to make sure they could reserve the space for us and they said that they could. When we arrived, they had no record of this. Eventually we got sat, but they had one server to serve all 29 of us and it couldn't have been slower. It took about 30-40 minutes to even place our food order and another 45 minutes to get our food. We had a lot of kids with us so that was a huge inconvenience. We ordered the food for the toddlers first and when they came out, the waiter had forgotten one of the kids grilled cheeses. He said he would put the order in and somehow that was the very last dish received out of all 29 people. On to the adult food...I asked the waiter whether I should get the lobster roll or the lobster club. He recommended the lobster roll to me but apparently told another person in our party not to get it and I really wish he had told me the same. It was by far the WORST lobster roll I've ever had in my life. It could not have been less flavorful or drier. The only saving grace was the decent fries. Gosh the whole meal was just positively terrible and our experience could not have been worse. We had to go get ice cream after because most people couldn't stomach their meals. I really dislike my 90 year old parents, so it brought me great joy to see them struggle with trying to get the menu on their cellphone and then navigate the menu. They got increasingly frustrated and upset - they so loved Rick's for many, many years, and especially enjoyed when the owner, Ed, would come around. They asked if they could please see an actual menu, but they were told flatly, no. "It's the way of the future", the ... "server?" cheerfully stated. When we finally got the order in they were anxious as to whether or not it actually went through. It did, and quite a while later the chowder came out - a tiny bowl, but happily, the order got messed up and they brought my dad two bowls. Except they were both stone cold. And -the happiest part was seeing their dismay at being charged 18% for the opportunity to order bad food on a cellphone with no service. We will not be back. read more

We aren't tourist. we live in Windham. few miles away. Ricks is always a good place to go when the weather is beautiful and you want to eat outside near the water. When you can sit upstairs it's the best. The food is always good. not amaxing, but consistently good. We've gone a few times a year, for years. This year, clearly facing the same problems wit staffing as the rest of the country, they have adopted Toast, a cloud based website utilizing QR code table tents for access to ordering everything, and paying, with tip automatically added. While I get it, I go out to eat to be taken care of, to have needs met, drinks refilled. great location, consistent food. drinks are so so...$12 margarita all sour mix.... Good pub food. Staff very nice. Owner should not be in the hospitality business. We were at the restaurant on a Friday afternoon at about noon. A large party was seated before us (25). We were told 10 minutes for a party of 10. Plenty of tables open. But they wanted to wait because of the large party. Ok, we get that. After 15 minutes, I ask the front desk how much longer. We went in for a relaxing lunch and were so frustrated by the contactless ordering system,that we saw others tables struggling with, that we would have walked out if not for the time already spent with the contactless parking! The restaurant had very few wait staff and we found out why. They say they pay their staff well enough that tipping is not necessary. That sounds really good! However, they only hire the minimum and expect the customers to use a phone or computer to order from. The few waitresses who were there were very nice but seemed equally frustrated by the constant need to address the ordering system. I did not feel safe having to get an app and then put in my details and card number. The food took a considerable time to arrive and only 5 tables were occupied. Yesterday evening we were informed by the hostess that alcohol would not be available for purchase since the liquor license had been revoked earlier that day. Not a problem, so we made a takeout order at the bar. A young blonde woman took our order and then proceeded to tell us that the health inspector had shut them down and they DID NOT actually have a license to sell food. That they were asked to comply with mask regulations and refused. I figured they got unlucky with some under 21 alcohol drinkers... nope. I asked "Why stop at food and not serve drinks?" and was told the fine is much higher for unlicensed alcohol sales. It was very clear from her statements and the lack of health concerns across the staff that Ricks is not the type of place I trust during Covid-19. Mask below nose or entirely off and only putting it on when walking to a table. Clearly, the staff feels they are somehow exempt from protecting patrons and fellow citizens by following simple regulations. On the way out I said to the young woman "why can't your expeditor wear a mask... he's not even in the kitchen where it is super hot...breathing on top of every dish... touching his face also" She said that people are entitled to their opinion. I told her they deserve to be shutdown and that it is totally irresponsible, selfish and shameful to blatantly ignore health and safety measures. Don't go here!! Just had dinner at Rick's Cafe and was willing to try the new ordering system that was on the sign outside the restaurant. We hadn't been there in a few years and always loved the dinners and drinks so we thought trying the new system with new ownership would be fine. We wanted to get our own perspective since there are so many negative reviews. For me, I wish there was a way to rate this less than 1 after eating there tonight. The ordering system was quickly explained to us and we were able to figure it out. The drawback to this is the lack of any experience to interact with the staff. We typically remember great places by our experience with the staff. Don't expect anyone to say thanks for coming in at this place. You won't see anyone enjoying themselves even with the best location in Naples. If you want a better experience than here you can get it at anywhere else, even a drive through restaurant. Drinks were not good as they didn't know how to make at least the 2 drinks we ordered. The drinks are ordered on the app and were delivered to the table by people who have no expression, personality, or care for what they are doing. Eventually, the food was brought out and I could see that it was not worth the $19 for the fish taco. My guests were shocked at the cost of $17 for one dinner of 10 fries and a chicken Caesar wrap made with canned chicken and so small it was about a 3 bite size. These men actually left hungry as one couldn't eat it because it tasted so bad and the other said it was like an appetizer. No one working there asked if we were satisfied and no one cared how our experience was. As you can see from the owner responses, he doesn't care either. Please don't go here if you are hungry or want a real dinner like a baked haddock, pasta or chicken dinner. You won't find that here. Only cheap foods here and not good tasting. It is the worst food we have ever had at this place. Very sad to see how poor this place is now. We will never go back and want everyone to know about this. At checkout, you once again do this yourself and I noticed the service fee was 20%!!! There was nothing on the sign that the fee was this high!!! Ridiculous!!! For no service!!! This weird online QR system is totally shit. The manager must have some weird trust issues going on with the staff that they feel they can't rely on them to just walk up to a table, take their order, and charge em with a bill. You know, like restaurants have been doing since the dawn of time. Ever heard the phrase, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?" What was so broke about things that you decided to adopt this very weird very confusing very stupid system where you force the customer into the position of customer AND waiter? It is noticeably annoying to every customer seated as well as all the staff, who seem like they've spent most of their day explaining to people how to order their food. It seems like all that extra energy spent by the staff explaining this could just be spend writing the order down and taking it to the kitchen. But what do I know, I've just been eating at restaurants my whole life and have never been driven to a point of such customer dissatisfaction. If there were ever a restaurant to not leave a tip at, it would be this one. Maybe that's why the manager implemented the QR system, so they have a scapegoat for why they feel their staff shouldn't receive tips. Who knows. All I know is that I have never felt the need to write a review for any restaurant ever, and here I am letting my food get cold in front of me while I write down my grievances, because this whole operation is a shit show. Edit: Had to come back to add this as we were trying to pay. Forget about splitting the bill, the process is just as confusing if not more so than it was to order food. On top of that, they include an 18% "gratuity" onto your bill FOR you. It was explained that the gratuity acts as a tip that gets split amongst the wait staff (and kitchen too, which is unusual, but whatever), which, normally, I would respect. But considering that I couldn't tell you the name or face of whoever brought our food out... what exactly are we tipping for? You know how, at a normal restaurant, they say "Hi, I'm ___ and I'll be taking care of you this evening." Well in this restaurant you're not being taken care of. You're being brought food. The service is fundamentally & conceptually no different than ordering at the self checkout kiosks at McDonalds. I've warned them, but they're captivated by how busy it seems. The okay view of the lake does not make up for the plastic chairs and tables, terrible food, and consistent, mediocre service. The wait is always way too long or people get their food at different times. You are treated like an annoyance by the staff and the drinks are mixed terribly. It always tastes like you're just drinking pure alcohol. This last time, we called and made a reservation but weren't able to be seated when we showed up for the reservation we made. Then we were told at the END of our meal that they couldn't split large party checks (there were only five of us) but that we could use multiple cards to pay? We found that either meals were recorded wrong or that things were added to the tab when we were all figuring out who owed who what. We asked for a manager but after waiting 20 mins for them to show up, we began to be late for what we had planned next. Would not be surprised if this place ends up on one of those "save the nightmare of a restaurant" shows.
