Terrible!!! Very friendly girl working at the bar. That's where it ends!!!! Very dirty bar station! They only had 3 Cokes. We came here very hungry. 5 of us. Our person got appetizer and food and finished all his food. Then about 15 minutes later the next plate came out. The cheese sticks were undercooked. The fries were burnt. I hardly ever rate a restaurant but I had to here. I went by the great reviews this place had. Their excuse???? We only have 1 cook. ???? Are u kidding me???? No one is even here! Apparently he can only cook 1 meal at a time! We are still waiting for the 3rd 4th and 5th plate to come out before they close!!! Well after still waiting for a plate of food in told the owner that we were leaving. He started getting really nasty and coming at me several times in a threatening manner. Located at the on ramp to Daytona Beach this favorite spot has been re-opened as Rick's Surf Bar and Restaurant. Back in the 80's & 90's this was the famous J's Island Patio. Rick the new owner was a lifeguard back then and has brought back the famous J's Wings done Cappy Style (grilled). Last night I relived my youth and enjoyed hot wings & beer! We also tasted the sliders and sweet potato fries, both of which were excellent! They had live music last night and opened a bar on the patio too with an awesome selection of beers on tap. This place is awesome! We didn't except much out of a place right by the ocean except the scenery but we were so wrong! This place has outstanding food! Beautiful view of the ocean. The homemade chips with salsa was the best I've ever had. The teriyaki steak skewers and rice was amazing! My husband had the chicken wings and thought those were great as well. Great beer specials even on a Friday night. The service was great. Richard our server was so friendly and efficient. If we lived out here we'd be regulars for sure. read more

This experience was very confusing. Came in expecting the typical restaurant environment but that wasn't the case. We were given a super small menu and told that we were to choose food that we would cook ourselves. The food isn't seasoned, we did that ourselves. We were expecting to see the menu like the one in the other reviews but sadly that wasn't the case. Walked in on Saturday night, Memorial Day weekend at midnight. Was not greeted, and man behind bar was obviously drunk as he talked with the ladies there. I asked if they were serving food, and was told "only flatbreads". We decided not to stay, and he said the "best flatbreads around". Was checking out the location for the first time tonight and out of nowhere I witnessed the bar owner yelling at an employee like he was a scolding a child and then the owner proceeded to run around the bar yelling about how it was the biggest check they have ever had walk out and I felt so bad for this young man. I overheard it was his first shift on the job and I can only imagine how horrible this guy felt and then to have his boss completely embarrass him if front of all staff and customers dropping F-bombs left and right must have been devastating for this young man. Awesome place. Awesome people. 100 ft from the beach. Good menu with some mixed options. I tried the Carved Chicken Skewers. Seasoned well with delicious caramelized peppers and onions and juicy chicken. Typical beer options with a few local micro brew choices and could be offering a gluten free beer or 2 in the future. Atmosphere a plus but the food is over priced for bar food. Friend ordered shrimp and scallops kebabs. Order came without scallops. The waitress did bring him a plate of 3 small scallops that tasted like they came from the freezer. I had Shrimp and Fish (13.99) over rice and beans. The shrimp was ok but everything else was dry and overcooked. Didn't eat most of it and they didn't offer to take it off the bill or bring us a dessert. Waitresses was fairly new 3x we had to ask for silverware. She then brought only one set then had to go back for more while our food was getting cold. We just started to eat with our hands. We started out happy with our experience despite them not having chicken for the chicken quesadilla. We understood that it was 8 pm on a sunday night. Food took an extremely long time but we were willing to deal with it due to the fantastic location and the fact we were a family of 5 in a dmall place but then the food came out one meal at a time with an extremely long time in between. Our server apologized and even bought us a couple of beers. When I received my fish baja bowl it was only rice and beans and shrimp. Should have had onions and avocado and other stuff. I was able to get some avocado. All in all it was not a great experience. We gave two stars for location and a pretty good server. read more

Food was bland. Ordered a Happy Camper bowl. Said it was 32 oz. recieved about 1/4 cup of plain old rice in a cup sized To go styrofoam with 3 shrimp and one piece of fish. There was no teriyaki glaze and the beans were on the side. Also, ordered a Baja bowl same old small amount of plain rice. About half of a piece of chicken breast. No onions, peppers, seasoning. Chicken was almost blackened. Overlooked. The only good thing about this restaurant was the music was nice. Atmosphere and location. Beer, slim selection, not real cold and over priced. Bar tender, a bit space out of sorts and confused. Her computer was acting up couldn't hardly handily that. With only a few people in the bar it still took me 30 minutes to get my food if you want to call it that. I would have rather eaten at McDonald's or a soup kitchen. One star is about right if you only go there to drink beer and listen to music. read more

We live near this place. We ate there one time. We will never go back. Food is to pricey.
