They fixed everything perfectly, did a check up on my car and told me what was wrong with it when 4 other shops told me they were "important immediate $1500+ fixes". I called a few days earlier and made an appointment, I got there 5 min before my appointment and they told me it would be 30-40 min total. After 30 min the car wasn't even pulled into the garage yet. Another 50 min later I had to go back and see what was going on, I got there an not ONE of my wheels was even on the car. I go into the store and the guy says "Yea your almost done man!" So not only did he lie about the wait time (he was off by 100%) but he lied about even knowing when the car would be done. Instead of simply saying "I don't know", he CHOSE to lie to me and then got taken aback when I started to get mad that I was going to be late for work. I have no idea if he even used Synthetic oil in my car, no idea if he actually rotated the tires and no idea if he checked the fluids or filled anything up. DON"T GO HERE!!!!!! read more

Horrible Horrible Horrible!! I called a week a head and told them that I was coming in for an oil change, no special oil needed. My appointment was at 1:30 and I didn't get out until 3:15 because they had to go pick up oil they didn't have any. Seriously!!! Very Bad customer service! I will not be back and do not recommend this business. I called and made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation and was told it wouldn't take more than 40 minutes. I dropped it off on time and was told by the mechanic that it would be 30 to 40 minutes. So I walked down the street to get a coffee. When I came back to pick it up 45 minutes later, the mechanic said that he got busy and wasn't able to work on it yet. I told him never mind and I left, having wasted part of my afternoon and had nowhere else to go and wait around for them to get around to working on my car. Also in their front office right as I walked in the door, one of their employees, I think might have either been the owner or manager, was laying on a couch watching tv. Bought a Groupon for the oil change and called to make an appointment. Was on hold for 15 minutes listening to the staff get annoyed with another customer, telling him "Well, I know what I'm talking about so I dont know what to tell you" before the staff proceeded to discuss the fact they've had apparent ongoing issues with the customer and his truck. Never had the staff answer the phone and had to call back to schedule service, at which point the person who answered the phone was fairly rude and seemed annoyed I was calling. I cancelled the Groupon, will not be going for the appointment, and will be sure to share this experience with anyone willing to listen. Worst service. read more

I've done business with Rick's Total Car Care for the past couple of years. Customer Service is always good but the past two times I've use them for oil change and tire rotations, they have not rotated the tires. They are always busy and may be short of help, but as I customer I prefer to receive services that were promised. Probably won't be returning there. read more

My first time here about a year ago was amazing!! I had no issues, got in and out, had an awesome Groupon, staff was so nice. My experience lately, on the other hand, has been a nightmare. A couple weeks ago, I came in to set up an Oil Change (on a Saturday). My car started making a strange noise the night before & the Groupon came with a vehicle inspection, so I thought maybe they could tell me what it was and what to do next. The guy at the desk scheduled me for an appointment for the next day at 10 A.M. I show up at 9:50 A.M.-no one around. So I thought, oh maybe no one's here yet, it's a Sunday morning. So I waited until 10:15. Nobody. Then I see the sign on the door-closed on Sundays. So I thought, oh probably an honest mistake, so I called that day and left a message explaining the situation. No call back. So I call again a few days later-no answer, so I leave another message, this time forgetting the whole thing & just asking to set up an appointment, because at this point, i just need this done. The sound coming from my car is getting worse everyday. No call back until FIVE days later. I was in class (I'm a college student), so I could not answer. I call back right away.. no answer. So I call again. And again. And again. Everyday. No answer. Today, I have called 3 times, no answer. I don't want to leave a message because that has proved ineffective, and I don't want to drive there because I don't want to make any unnecessary trips when my car is in this state. & I can't just go anywhere else, as I've already paid for the Groupon. I will never be coming here after this situation is over again. read more

Unfortunately, now that the shop is under new ownership, the service is atrocious. My car was taken in a month ago for an oil change and two weeks ago had a check engine light signaling a misfire in cylinder one. James tried to convince me to replace all four spark plugs AND all four coils, which I was advised elsewhere is almost never necessary in a car that's only five years old. He was extremely rude and belligerent when I was unwilling to pay $1,300 to replace all four coils. We purchased one coil from a different vendor and replaced it and all the spark plugs ourselves, as my dad is a mechanic who lives out of town. I still couldn't clear the engine light and the car would chug while driving and struggled to get up to speed. I brought it to a different shop recommended by my family and they also couldn't figure out the issue, because the engine passed a compression test and all the plugs and coils were perfectly fine. Finally, their manager asked if I had had my oil changed recently, which I had- at Rick's. When I asked why, she said the pan was filled with EIGHT quarts of oil when it only needed FOUR. They hadn't changed my oil at all- just poured four more quarts on top of the existing oil. This was soaking the spark plugs and coils and keeping them from properly igniting, thus causing continued misfires. All in all, I've spent over $500 to fix an issue that should never have happened. Frustrated and angry does not even begin to cover it. This could have killed my engine and I feel extremely lucky we caught the issue when we did. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE unless you wanna waste money and risk ruining your car. read more

I bought a Groupon for an oil change with an expiration date of 90 days.... Called to make an appointment 10 days before the expiration date and was told that they are fully booked until two weeks from today.... I asked if the Groupon would be honored and he said no... I feel this is highly deceitful sice it wasn't my fault they can't accommodate me...and now i have to pay the full price for an oil change??? C'mon... It is an oil change that takes 20 minutes and they have my money already... Will not buy another Groupon for them or use them in the future! read more

Totally loved my experience at ricks! I went in for a basic oil change, ended up buying some reasonably priced windshield wipers there! Then they installed them and changed out my sprayer nozzles for free! They also topped off my fluids! Super nice guys and they do their work for great prices. All I see in these reviews are the pricing and time frame negatives. This is his own business yall. Sometimes things are pricier, and cars are TIME CONSUMING. Something I can tell you is that they will take AMAZING care of what you need done for your car. Look, we have a little beat up old Lexus. My husband tells me we need new brakes and I didn't not believe him... until a day later we were grinding on metal. ‍ he calls meineke and they quote him 650+ and it's going to be an all day thing. He shows up when they open and nobody is there. He waited an HOUR and no one shows up (it's now almost 11am) so he drives next door just on a whim and Rick took him in no appointment (which you need) and charges him $450. He also had to ORDER the parts which were at the location within an hour. He ALSO got to know my husband personally, that was a pretty big plus. We really only trust this place now. For everything. STAY AWAY!! New Owners. Simple Groupon synthetic oil change with tire rotation and they did not install a new oil filter. Yes, I marked it. Don't know if they actually even changed the oil. Based on this, I would not recommend them for anything!!. I have never had service like this before. Last time I was here the end of 2018, the people/service were awesome - not now. Was charged $20.00 extra for "special" oil. upon receiving receipt nothing was noted about what they did, tire rotation, fluid or air pressure check, nothing. My whole family have been going to ricks for all our car problems for years. But just a week ago my breaks went out entirely. I had to replace my breaks a rotor and a bunch of other parts because I'm just a kid and I'm living on my own and let them go far to long for monetary reasons. My boyfriend had the same problem a year ago and said it cost him $700 so I was ready to beg and plead for people to loan me money considering I only had $300. But I called and he was able to fix them in less than two hours that day! I had to down shift to slow down and had to use my emergency break at a stoplight on the way there. But he said if I made it soon he'd fix them today because I needed my car to work at 4am the next day. All in all with parts and labor it only cost me $295 which is so great. He showed me what had happened and why I needed to get my breaks fixed before they get that bad showed me all the parts that needed to be replaced and flipped one of the rotors and cleaned it so I wouldn't have to pay for two (saving me another $30!!) Then we went inside he calculated all the prices for parts and the labor and explained while he was doing it what every charge was. He hires responsible and honest people and if he finds out his employees aren't as honest as he is he gets rid of them (this I know from personal experience but that's another story for another time.) A small yellow sign on the front door says "Honest and Affordable" and that's only part of the story. I recently inherited a Toyota from my mom and was looking for a shop who could do the timing belt and water pump kit. I've done them before but only on much older vehicles so I was not prepared to tackle it myself. I rarely have to go to a shop because I tend to do most repairs myself. I therefore dreaded the notion of finding one. I called around to several and got the usual BS with super high quotes and the normal arrogant disinterested approach one often sees from mechanics. It was by pure chance that I found Rick's and I am thrilled. Rick and I talked for awhile about cars and I was surprised that he actually treated me with respect. I'm no mechanic but I've been fixing my own cars for forty years, so it was nice not to be talked to as if I was an idiot like most mechanics are inclined to do. We finally got around to a quote and he first informed me that he only uses OEM parts and though the kit could be found cheaper at an AutoZone, etc., he would not go that way, particularly for such an important job. I admired this attitude and his convictions. Despite the higher price for OEM parts his quote came under all other places I had approached. My research showed he did not inflate the cost of the parts and his labor charges and time estimated was right on the money. I knew even before the job had been done that I had found that rarest of auto shops - one with integrity and honesty as their foundation. The job was done the following week, on time and within the stated quote. Best thing about it is I know the job was done well. You look at Rick and you can see he's the Real McCoy. Beware of big shops that claim to be #1 in Reno or most popular, or Voted in the Reno Gazette as Best, or whatever. I'll take the smaller shop with someone like Rick at the helm any day of the week. I've passed his card on to several friends with the same assurance I give any readers here. How nice that someone lives up to what they advertise on their front door. read more
