I can't believe it took us so long to go to Ricobene's! We finally stopped in and it was amazing. We went on a Friday night for dinner. The restaurant is very big and there's plenty of seating. It has a similar feel/set up as Portillo's. Order at the counter and they call your name. You can also buy pizza by the slice down at a station down the line. The food came out hot and fast! We had the breaded steak sandwich, meatball sandwich, and a slice of breaded steak pizza. Our favorite by far was the meatball sandwich. It was one of the best meatball sandwiches I've ever had. The regular size comes with two big meatballs. The meatballs seemed homemade because you could see the seasonings and onions. The breaded steak sandwich was also very good, but not as standout as the meatball sandwich. The breaded steak pizza was ok. It lacked a little seasoning, so I'll probably try one of their other pizzas next time. We're definitely adding Ricobenes into the regular rotation. read more

Haven't been since they left the Loop. Got home from the bars and called to order takeout. I asked if they could tell me what on their menu was gluten free. The kid on the phone didn't seem super sure what gluten even was. Kinda weird for 2023 but he explained that nothing on the menu was. Hmm. Ok. Ended up ordering a double bacon burger with no bun for gf with celiac and one with a bun for me. Got home and both were single burgers, no bacon. It's 2023. Have allergen info for every dish on your menu. Gluten, soy, dairy, egg. If not, have a staff that knows and cares about it. Why? Because it's too easy I go to all the other spots that do care. Five star food what else can I say! Always heard of this place, but never got the right chance to try it until today! We ordered for takeout, which was super convenient with their online ordering. The food did take about 45min to be ready, but in all fairness they were very busy when we went by. A gem about this place is their pizza by the slice! They have thin, pan, and deep dish pizza options..how convenient is that? We also got an order of mozzarella sticks to satiate my cheese obsession and they were absolutely delicious. It was truly like a stick shaped cheese curd and I thoroughly appreciated it. My partner decided to try the Chicken Vesuvio sandwich which was also amazing! The chicken was thin and crisp just perfect for a sandwich. We live close by so we will definitely be going back to try some more of what they have to offer! read more

Waited probably about 30 minutes total on a Saturday night (they were pretty busy) This is the type of sandwich (breaded steak sandwich) that you have to eat instantly or else it'll get soggy. The sandwich overall was about a 7/10 - could have used a bit a more flavor to it and crunch. The fries also could use some more salt. The best pizza I've had in Chicago so far--hands down. I'm lactose intolerant, so I always order my pizza without cheese. As you can imagine, that really trips up other places and the end result is usually underwhelming. If the sauce and dough aren't good, then there's no cheese to make up for it. I got a cheese-less personal pan pepperoni pizza, and I knew I'd found my favorite after the first bite. The crust had just enough crisp without being crunchy, but was also bready and soft. My bf got the same (with cheese) and he agreed it was one of the best he's had. We also got cannolis and a side of garlic bread, but the personal pan pizza was enough itself to fill us up. We found the menu somewhere beside the cashier who was busy taking other visitors orders.. "Well lets see.. Whats on this tiny menu?" My husband said. The waitress paused for a minute then smiled and offered us to choose between waiting 20 minutes and pay 16$ for pizza OR wait 5 minutes and take ready veggie pizza collection for 10$! First time customer... we stopped in for a bite after a football game ... the staff was pleasant and accommodating ... our food was good ... we ordered a meatball sub and Italian ice for dine-in ... a small All Seasons Deep Dish and wings for takeout ... they were very busy so our takeout order was an hour wait but our dine in orders was pretty fast all things considered ... the 1 disappointment was the toilet in the ladies bathroom didn't flush ... hopefully this gets fixed soon ... overall we did have a good experience read more

Not only did I watch everyone around that was not off African-American descent do nothing... I can only bear to stay there no longer than 10 minutes after seeing only the black child working. My food came out at a timely matter in my eyes, not knowing how long it actually takes at their establishment, but no longer than three minutes, I order three slices of pizza a breaded steak and an Italian beef... Last night was my first time coming here. I wanted to order a deep dish pizza, but they said it was too late. So we ordered a sausage pan pizza with tax a large was around $20. I thought the pizza was very good, it was very cheesy there was a lot of meat and the crust reminded me similar to a pie or biscuit crust. I would order it again. So my dissatisfaction comes from the service I received today. I've been going to this restaurant for over 30 years. And just to prove so, I used to go there when it was a hole in the wall restaurant. Literally with a Italian ice window and they were "saved by the bell" design with stool chairs along the counter. Their uniform were pink and blue. And I've recommended this place to almost everyone I know. But today, I've been disappointed by them. I had signed up for their text message coupons and have lost the number to the messages since i broke my last phone. I have since moved to Naperville but yet I still order from them and have my husband pickup from the city. I called today to ask for the number to sign up again and the person who answered the phone didn't want to help me. I asked what the number was up signup again and she told me she didn't know. I asked if she can ask someone else but she said no one knows. I asked how I can be added back in and she said "it's random" so I said "even if it's random, don't you still need to signup the phone number to be in this random list?" She said "it's all random". But I recall I had signed up through texting a code. Now I have a birthday party coming up and I had told all my Naperville friends about their pizza and wanted to order 5-6 pizzas from them but now it seems disappointing. The steak is amazing and the sauce is incredibly tasted. Be warned though... the sandwich is giant.This thing will instantly put you in a food coma. Also had the Italian ice and it was crisp and refreshing. Even had chunks of lemon in the actually ice cream. Very good!! I've been going to Ricobene's for a good while. Always ordered take out for breaded steak (which was for someone else) and I would get the eggplant parmesan. Also put the orders online to ensure prompt service when I arrive. The staff is always polite and orders were accurate. It is very roomy but I went early in the morning. There was a few people waiting and I had a couple cups of water. Was not a long wait and got the order sooner than anticipated on website. Never got around to having the pizza, which was delicious. New Favorite restaurant in Chi. The breaded steak sandwich was phenomenal but the Chicken was the best chicken cutlet sub I have ever had.

I came here a couple weeks ago because someone I know recommended the place to me, saying that they have the best sandwich ever and they grew up on the place! With such a rave review, I had to stop in. We ended up parking across the street and I was a little overwhelmed when I got in there. The place was packed (seems like the whole Northwestern crew team decided to come) and there were different stations to order different food, kind of like at Portillo's. I ordered my breaded steak sandwich and found a place to sit. The sandwich was ginormous! Definitely not for someone on a diet. I liked how the bun was nice and soft and for the size, it's a good value. The sandwich was tasty, but super messy. Solid sandwich for sure, but I wouldn't vote it the best in America! When I stop into Ricobenes I immediately go check out the slices. If they have the spinach and mushrooms deep dish. That's what I'm going to get with a side of cheese fries. If they happen to be out of that I get the chicken Parmesan sandwich with mozzarella and giardiniera. The food is hearty and delicious. It's usually pretty busy. Lots of oldschool Italian Bridgeport pictures on the wall. They do sell beer and wine. They're delivery service is also good. I'm sure the rest of the food is good too.
