My bike needed a new crankshaft as a family member put the wrong pedal on the wrong side. I went to a different bike shop and they said the part would cost more than $250. I was shocked and surprised. I decided to go back to the shop where I had purchased my bike about 6 years ago, Ridgewood Cycle. The guys helped me bring my bike in and then looked at it. Not only did they fix the issue on the spot, but they let me know that the part was actually about $20-$30. Ridgewood Cycle are great people, with fantastic service. They are honest and helpful. Dropped in to see if they could fix my son's inexpensive first bike. They loaded it up on the rack, did the best they could with what they had. Explained the issues to me and didn't bother charging me for the 30 minutes they worked on it. I went back a few months later, they walked me through a new bike purchase without breaking the bank. When I think of Ridgewood NJ , I think of overpriced stores, with yuppies strolling the streets with popped collars. This was NOT the case at Ridgewood Cycle. I bought my first road bike from a different store and needed a quick repair before a race that weekend. I brought the bike to Westwood Cycle and was so disgusted with the arrogance, sense of superiority, and overall smugness from the store owner I had to leave. The owner of Westwood Cycle told me he "would" not make the simple repair (despite saying he had time to do so when I called the store 15 minutes before arriving). I left and brought the bike to Ridgewood Cycle. The guy (Elliott) at Ridgewood was so courteous that he fixed the bike on the spot, made a few other quick adjustments, suggested some things I could do for a more comfortable ride, didn't charge me anything and had me out the door in 5 minutes! All while having a store full of customers. I never left a store with a better sense of satisfaction, or felt compelled to write a review about a place I visited. I quickly checked the prices of the same shoes, bike shorts and helmet I bought a different bike store and they were cheaper at Ridgewood Cycle. I wish I stopped at this store sooner. FIVE STARS! YES this shop has all the products you may want and the techs that can fix anything in my opinion. I stopped in the other day and they were able to help me where other shops were giving me the run around. Thanks to their know how I was able to have my problems solved and get back out there enjoying my bike. The prices are maybe a little high but the things the shop carries are all quality items so you get what you pay for and in this case its great quality. I highly recommend this shop. Even the way everything is organized can give you the bug to get your bike out of storage and go riding! read more

Went in today looking to buy my first bike, and I'm so glad I did! The staff was completely amazing. Laura helped me pick out the right bike for me, and then hooked me up with all the necessary accessories needed for my race. She went above and beyond and even helped me put a bike rack on my car! Then two of the guys came out back to make sure it was installed properly and strapped in safely. It's clear that everyone there is passionate about what they do. read more

Anthony in the shop is the best mountain bike mechanic I've seen in my 25 years of riding. He's a downhiller himself and just "gets it" - with my XC, fat and trail bikes. If he can't fix it or get it working like new, then nobody can. Plus he gives riding advice - how to use the bike. Super impressive. And Chris in the shop is also awesome; if I was a roadie, I'd be singing his praises too. read more

Great customer service. I am always in and out quickly. The store staff always courteous, informative, and every now and then throw in a freebie or extra service. I was hesitant to get my bike and service from this shop because of parking in Ridgeood, but it really has not been a problem, and if you go during off hours you can get parking in their own lot. read more

This is the place to go for anything regarding bicycles. Andrew, Elliot, and mechanic John are about as helpful as you could ask for. I'm riding in the "Police Unity Tour" which leaves next week, and recently banged up my rear Derailleur while training. Frantically, I went to Ridgewood Cycle for help. They have a good selection, but their prices are not competitive and their attitude is your typical condescending demeanor that you get when you think of snobby bike shops. It's a shame. Biking is for everyone, not just for racers. read more
