I had been seeing commercials for Rigatoni's for a while but we never had one close enough to just up n go. Then this one opened and a friend raved about how good this place was and it was now one of faves, so me and my husband said why not lets try it. Its not like your typical restaurant where you wait to be seated and you have a waiter and all. When you walk in on the wall is a big board with the menu which the prices are cheap to me. So the first time I went I ordered the Broccoli and chicken Rigatoni and I believe my husband had the Shrimp Fettuccine with no shrooms. While we waited for our food we grabbed some bread and the oil and balsamic vinegar. I love that stuff. The bread was soft I thought it was gonna be a lil stale from sitting out but it was not. We get our food and the portions were good to me for just paying 8.99 for my plate but I still had to taste it. So I take a dip into my pasta and take a bite and I was surprised that it was actually really good. Its not like a real nice and spiffy Italian Restaurant but if you are wanting to eat some Italian food and dont feel like waiting in line to be seated I say hit up Rigatoni's cheaper, faster and still tasty! If you are looking for real Italian food, sorry this place is not it. A friend and I went there for dinner. Not bad, just okay. He had the raviolis and I had the Chicken Pomodori. Both dishes were pretty bland. His sauce was little bit on the watery side. Mine looked pretty good with the chicken and tomatoes. The servings were more then adequate. I found myself adding more Parmesan cheese to give my dish more flavor. As far as the bread goes, it was stale. This place is more like "Italian lite". this place is pretty overpriced for the kind of food it serves. the food's not bad though. my spaghetti and meatballs were very warm when i got the dish, but it was a very simple dish. the best thing here is the olive bread at the unlimited bread bar. i do like how you can get all the bread, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar you want. i guess this is one place you probably might need to avoid if you're a low carb freak. i did manage to bring my infant son here and put his car seat on a chair. read more

My experience in the Castro Valley location was sub par hence it turned me off to Rigatoni's in general. However I must say this location is different. Food, service and environment is much better. Portions are just right for me as well especially for lunch. Waiting for the food can take awhile though so order ahead if you don't have a lot of time. read more

I like the pasta here because I don't like overwhelming cheese flavor pasta. I had the minestrone soup and Rigatonis Bolognese pasta and they were delicious. Although the portion might be small for some people, I though it was just right for me. The creamy tomatoes sauce was just right for the pasta. One of the best options in the east bay for basic red sauce, checkered table cloth Italian food. The prices are very reasonable, the red sauce is home made and thick. Stick with the core items like the penne bolonese, the spagetti and meatballs or the cheese ravioli with red sauce and you will be pleased.plenty of free bread also and bread sticks. read more

True, you don't get served by a waiter; while drinks and bread bar are selfserve; but the food is comparable if not superior to Olive Garden at a much cheaper price. The other thing is Costco ocassionally has a 50% off using giftcards where you can get a ribeye and pasta w/drink for $6.98 (orig $13.99)!!! That's one heck of a deal for some good pasta (not fine italian but more of Olive Garden level) if you ask me!!! I will comeback again since the place provides good food with a very clean casual facility, there are lots of room for kids to walk around, and a pretty attractive indoor and outdoor environment. read more

Loved the staff. Gave the 2nd star because they were all super nice. Although half of them didn't know how to pronounce certain pastas, or even know what tiramisu was (which is an Italian dessert-for those that do not know.) The food was Nothing for our whole table to make us want to come back. The pasta was way over cooked and was completely mushy! We ordered chicken fettuccine, another pasta with tomatoes, cheese and garlic, a meatball sub, and spaghetti with meatballs. Their Marinara sauce was extra salty and it's almost like they tried to cover it up with the over sweetness of the basil. Which together all you taste is salty basil! Although, We did enjoy the crispy chips that came with the sub. I was really hoping to like this place-due to their reviews, and always looking busy when we pass by. I'm not a fan of Olive Garden either, but for the price and the portions, I'd rather go down the street to O.G. Or for all that salt just stay home and make Kraft Mac n cheese. I went to Rigatoni's last sat night. There was a lot of people there at the time but we still didnt have to wait long for our meals, which were kindly recommended by the cashier when we told her we had never been there before. The chicken parmesan was amazing!! if you are planning on visiting Rigatoni's soon, get it, you will love it. The server greeted us with a smile and quickly brought us our plates. She was very nice the whole time and made sure we had all that we needed, we hadnt seen the forks and knives so she offered to bring them to us. They have a bread bar which is complimentary and a great side to any meal. The dinning area was packed and yet the server found time to come back every so often and ask how everything was, she even offered us dessert, which we all had. Overall my experiance at Rigatonis was great. The food was exellent, and frankly i think the comment below about the cooks is a bit racist. The cooks were very friendly and even joked around with us. The service is great, though it's order first then sit-down, staff continues to check on you. hi there i stayed at the hotel next to rigatoni hayward for a couple weeks and droped in a few times and begin to realize there was one manager who was always on personal calls or talking bad about other co wokers in a second lang. then i had alittle problem with my food and i wanted to tell the MANAGER about it and she looked like she was sitting down with a group of friends while the waitresses while the waitresses were helping pther customers. very weird place if you watch the people. next time i visit the east bay i will never go there due to that manager! but i did leave a nice tip for my waitress! read more
