We saw this place the day before, eating at Silver Spoon and decided to stop in the next day. Again it's in a little strip mall with plenty of parking. It's a pretty happening place. The place was almost all full but we snagged a table. It's not a huge place but every table was almost full and I think I saw two help staff. So we just sat ourselves and got our menus later. They have food food like pizzas and sandwiches but we were interested in the empanadas. They didn't look too big so we opted for 3 each. Lots of other tables ordered a lot more (dozen plus) and it came out on a giant pizza pan. I barely finished my 3 - so much dough. But I have a feeling my guy friend could've had one or two more. I ordered the sweet beef, spinach, and the fatay. The best was the fatay which is an Arabian empanada, with beef and a squeeze of lemon. I enjoyed the sweet beef as well - loved the raisins in there. The spinach was "basket style" so it was more a quiche. Very cheesy and creamy. This probably filled me up the most. Prices aren't too bad either. $2 or less or an empanada. You could eat so many. Lots of people getting food to go as well. read more

I found out about this place via Yelp because I was in the mood for something different and close by. I ordered a dozen of their empanadas and honestly I enjoyed most of them ( I didnt get to try a few because my parents ate them, so I am assuming since they had gotten eaten without complaints they were good) I had the tuna, which I wish had a little sauce because it would have been a lot better. I had the caprese by far my FAVORITE and the ham and cheese....they need to add larger pieces of ham because bacon bit sized pieces were over powered by the dough. The dough was flaky and truly I enjoyed it. I had a few others but forgot their names. Oh and I got a crepe which truly was heaven. SO SO good. If youre looking for a good place to eat you guys just might want to try this place because they have great service and great food for a pretty reasonable price. read more

My family and i have been here twice in the last month. First time we tried the Rika's Special pizza and a pepperoni. We're not real big fans. The toppings were plentiful enough but the thing we didn't care for was the pizza crust. It was very dense, you couldn't bite through it completely, actually had to tug on it to get your bite. Also there was a lack of sauce which made it very dry (that could depend on the person that makes it, not that it's always this way). It could be just us, I see a lot of people do enjoy it. Again although the toppings are fresh and tasty, if the crust doesn't cut it, hard to call it a winner. After saying all that however, empanadas? Most Excellent! Our second trip we got a dozen assorted and they were tasty, full of ingredients, pillow soft dough, just a wonderful change from the usual food offerings on every street corner. We got beef, spicy beef, bacon and prune, tuna, saltena and chicken and mushroom and ricotta cheese and spinach. All were good and some were outstanding, our consensus favorites were the tuna, spicy beef and the chicken and mushroom. We will definitely be back to try other ones and I'm especially looking forward to the ham and cheese. I guess if you have empanadas in your restaurant name, you better be good at that, and they are big time. If you're looking for a break from your eating monotony and you want to try something different, head here, you won't be disappointed. I almost forgot, super friendly people both times I picked up our take out orders, I like to support the small businesses that deserve it instead of giving my money over to the large chain establishments. I find it a little odd that they have two differently prices menus. It's more expensive if you dine in. The menu is definitely traditional Argentinean and for people who are used to more "Americanized" versions of Empanadas the flavors and styles might seem a little unusual. I would have been more pleased if they had more meat based Empanadas. I sampled two, and I did enjoy them, but I prefer my other go to Empanada restaurants. read more

After reading the reviews everyone left I thought I'd go to check it out. I wasnt really too impressed. Ive ate empanadas before at at place called Titos in El Monte that are very good but these werent juicy, flavorful, soft & warm like those. I got a sweet beef & a fatay beef empanada. When they brought them to me it was 2 beef empanadas. Their regular empanadas & they pretty much taste the same. I wouldnt go again, nothing special. Ok First of all this place makes the and I mean "D" best empanadas in the Southern California area, and yes I have tried them all. This place is what you would see in any neighborhood of buenos aires open till 2 am for the post bar grub, but alas they close early. I drive 30 miles just to get mi fix of empanadas, and they have a huge variety, I stick to the typical meat, cheese and onions and more meat, but they have all sorts of other empanadas that are just as good. I'm no vegetarian but the eggplant and spinach almost converted me. The staff is great, the young lady with the beautiful smile that always seems to be there is fantastic. The people that work there know their stuff and they care for their customers and products. They have great pizza and sandwiches as we'll but to me the empanadas is an experience that you share with your closest friends because you don't want everyone to know how good this place is, then it will be packed full off yuppies or whatever's and then they take your empanadas...... We'll anyway make a trip to Rikas, you will not be disappointed and you will enjoy a good argentinean empanada the way they are suppose to be done. read more

Great taste. Tried the empanada de carne n the cheese n ham empanada. Both very delicious. Free wifi. The pan con milanesa is huge. Probably 15 inches long but tasty oh yeah! Both the sweet and spicy beef empanadas hit the spot. The combo is a really good deal to lets you sample different standard empanadas and also get a drink. One of the combos came with a slice of cheese pizza that was spiced well with oregano. Will have to come back and try a whole pizza from their list of specialties. I finally had the chance to try this place. I got together with a friend to study for a final and this was perfect for snacking. I bought a dozen of the special empanadas. Oh my, they were all riquisimas (delicious)!! My favorite were the chicken and mushrooms and chopped beef. I don't like olives so I gave mine to my friend. They are quite filling, two will fill you up for a few hours. By the end of the night we had 2 leftover. I will definitely get some more for the holidays. They are ideal finger food for parties. I want to try the bacon and prunes next time, even though it doesn't sound that good, but hey, anything with bacon is usually good. Lastly, it is family owned and they are very friendly. Family run establishment that take a lot of pride in their delicious food. Tried 5 different kinds of empanadas and all were so good! Also loved the meringue cake that had a dulce de leche like caramel, peaches, cake, and cream. The crunchy meringue bits on top added a nice crunch to the dessert. This is the real deal! Anyone looking for empanadas autenticas need look no further. The last comparable thing I knew of, anywhere close to here, was Gaucho Grill in Old Town Pasadena, and its been closed for years now. Truth be told, these guys' empanadas are even better!! Just go!
