Friendly service and very good sushi. Good prices too. Not a big place so arriving around 6p was perfect. I'd go back. Parking is a little challenging so prepare for a walk from street parking.

We have been here many times before abs it never disappoints. The sushi here is fresh and delicious. I loved my protein roll and the sashimi. The service is excellent and was very quick despite the restaurant being very busy as it was peak dinner hours. The restaurant is a bit small, so if you go on a busy night like we did, you might end up waiting a little while to be seated. The inside does have a very cozy and simple atmosphere with a traditional Japanese theme. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and will be coming back many times in the future.

After the North Park Book Fair my friends and I were pretty hungry and because it was so hot decided that Riki Sushi would be a good choice. My friend Heidi recommended it because she and a friend really liked it so I was so excited to check it out. When we came in we were the only guests, but that was fine with us, our server was really nice and patient. I ended up ordering the Chicken Teriyaki bento box which included, salad, a California roll, miso soup, shrimp tempura and sweet potato tempura, I opted to upgrade my roll to shrimp tempura roll. While waiting for the food we were vibing to the music, I really want to know what what playlist they use! Our miso arrived first, the soup even in the heat was perfect, it's pretty hard to mess up miso soup. Our food came out pretty quickly after that, I always eat the sides first prior to the main entree. I really liked my salad and the dressing it came with, it was light and refreshing. My sushi roll was pretty tasty too and the chicken teriyaki was just right. I appreciate that the chicken was grilled and wasn't overly sauced. Also they give you two pieces of shrimp tempura and sweet potato which was really nice, I've gone to places and they only give you one shrimp and random veggie tempura, so I really appreciate it. I love tempura sweet potato so I was definitely full from the sides that I got to take home leftovers. Later at night my husband ate my left overs and liked it too! Would definitely come back, it definitely satiated my craving and the service was fast and efficient, as we were leaving it got busier and busier but our server was still super attentive!

The food and service were great. Their rolls were fresh and delicious! We had their specialty rolls, nigiri, sashimi, udon tempura and bento box. Everything was delicious.

Pretty fire. The food was decently priced, staff were all very kind and helpful, and the restaurant is lovely. Lots of places to sit without the restaurant getting too loud. Lovely place to enjoy a good sushi dinner

Delicious sushi! Very good vegetarian rolls which are hard to find. Highly recommend the garlic edamame! Quick service and relaxed vibe.

I don't say this lightly.... This is the best sushi shot in San Diego. I don't want a fancy sushi spot with $30 rolls. I want a nice normal place with good quality rolls for a reasonable price. Their rolls are soooo good I can't stop coming back here. Specifically I have a sweet potato hyperfixation and not many places have 1. A sweet potato roll 2. It's actually good. Riki really does it for me and I am their biggest fan. Almost every roll is under $20 too like that's unheard of.

Love this spot so much. The waitress and waiter are always amazing. Great food, great restaurant. Great prices definitely recommend!

I come here at least 1-2 times a month. The service is great and the sushi even better. Parking is always a hit or miss in North Park but it's worth it. I'm not a fan of krab so I've pretty much tried all the rolls without krab in it. I think you can substitute some types of fish if you ask. My go to rolls are: Yellowtail Special, Hillcrest, Washington, and Leo Loves Me Long Time. I also love getting the Nigiri Combo or a Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. You really can't go wrong with anything. I love this place. Vibes are great. I usually come here with a friend or eat by myself. I highly recommend.

Have still been on the hunt for a good casual sushi spot and Riki is making it into the rotation! Stopped by on a Sunday night around 6 pm, and the place was busy but no wait for 2. It's spacious and clean, and service is quick. Most importantly, the rolls were all fresh and delicious! We got the spicy salmon (not very spicy, but solid), Big Bang (escolar, spicy scallops, and jalapeños- very yummy), and the Girls Night (bluefin tuna was where I stopped reading - the favorite of the night). Interesting diversity of fish and roll composition, and great quality, generous amounts of fish for reasonable prices = a win x4! The drink specials are fantastic too, with the beer + sake combos that are available all the time - Riki checks all the boxes and then some!

Riki Sushi is a solid spot for sushi, especially if you're in the area. The quality is decent--not bad by any means--but compared to other sushi spots in San Diego, it doesn't quite stand out for me. That said, I live nearby, so whenever we're craving sushi, this is usually where we end up out of convenience. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for a reliable sushi spot, it's worth checking out. Just not a place I'd go out of my way for.

Been here a few times and all were good experiences. Smaller place with not too long of a wait, prices are good and the portions are big. Lots of options and specials that they have. Would go back for sure. The spicy garlic edamame was probably my favorite thing so far.

Came here with my mans and my best friend and we loved it!!! The sushi was amazing, especially the summer roll. The prices are really good too for what you get! We ordered a little bit of everything: bulgogi yakisoba, karaage, miso, cucumber salad, seaweed salad, 5 different rolls and the nigiri. Miso was great, and rolls were delish. I will say the service is a little slow but nothing too crazy as it was pretty busy when we got here. Definitely coming back and can't wait to try more things on the menu :)

When you only ate somewhere once but they remember you that makes you want to keep coming back! One big draw for me is the kids meal and options/service for kids. If a kid is under 7 they don't charge for them to split your meal with you and they can still get their own soup bowl and chair. Also, they have a kids meal option for 10 and under. My kids absolutely love being treated like real customers. They get to cook their own food and the team addresses them kindly and tends to them. By the nature of this type of meal there is a decent amount of checking in the waitstaff has to do like adjusting cook temps, delivering plates and drinks, coming back for add ons etc so it is a good restaurant experience for kids. They even have high high chairs (not a typo) for the babies. The food is good. Everything is prepped to order... you can literally see people slicing your meat or putting your vegetables together in the back. I come here because I want quality and not the volume of an ACYE place. I'd prefer to spend my calories wisely. I was surprised that it was full but no wait on a weekday. It's hard to find somewhere with a vibe on a weekday but this place has one. It's a short drive from the zoo and Balboa park so I'm sure the team will see us again.

We've been coming here since their soft opening and have visited several times over the past year, and every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. We were seated immediately at the bar, even without a reservation (though I'd definitely recommend making one, as it's been quite busy on previous visits). Sitting at the bar ended up being one of the highlights of the evening because we got to chat with the chefs, including the owner and head chef, Aries. We started with the miso soup, which was delicious, followed by the salmon crispy rice and a selection of sashimi. Everything was outstanding, but the salmon crispy rice has officially become our go-to appetizer. If it's your first visit, don't skip it! For our main course, we ordered the nigiri sampling, which included bluefin tuna, yellowtail, salmon, and two chef's choice pieces. After our sashimi course, Aries asked which fish stood out the most. We both immediately said the bluefin tuna, and he customized our order of nigiri such that the chef's choice selections were centered around that. One piece was toro belly (which I happily let my fiancée enjoy since that's her favorite), and the other was a marinated bluefin tuna that was one of the best bites I've had. Aries even took the time to show us how the tuna was cut and prepared, which made us appreciate the craftsmanship behind every piece even more. When he asked how we liked the chef's choice, we each admitted we wished we could have tried the other's piece. To our surprise, and without hesitation, he prepared two more so we could both experience each one. That level of hospitality and genuine enthusiasm is something you simply don't find everywhere. This is a sushi lover's dream. It's obvious that Aries and his team aren't just running a restaurant, but rather, they're passionate about the art of sushi, and that passion comes through in every interaction and every bite. Hillcrest is incredibly lucky to have a place like Dashi. We already know we've been a few times before but we know we'll be back many more times, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

I asked, "What if we want to order more beer or sake later?" because whenever we come here, we usually order three or four sakes and three or four beers throughout the meal. His response was simply, "It's just the two of us." I understand that they were short-staffed, but that's not an excuse to make customers feel rushed and unwelcome. Honestly, the way he spoke to me and looked at me genuinely scared me. After we sat down, I turned to my friend and said, "I'm scared of him." I rushed through the menu and ordered the first thing I saw because I just wanted to get away from the counter. I've been here before, and I loved the food. In fact, that's exactly why we came back. But this time, because of the atmosphere and the way I was treated, I couldn't enjoy the meal at all. The same food I had loved before tasted awful to me because the experience completely ruined it. No one checked on us afterward. We had to get our own napkins and anything else we needed. I worked in the restaurant industry for 16 years, so I understand how stressful and difficult the job can be. I've dealt with all kinds of difficult customers, but I still treated people with kindness and respect. I really do love this restaurant, which is exactly why this experience was so upsetting. Service was ok, they were attentive but definitely slow getting the bill and that awkwardness of them hovering as they hand you the machine to pay with your card and the screen shows the tip. it's like ugh they are standing there starring kind of makes you feel awkward. :: ORDER :: MISO SOUP ($4.50) - nothing special about their miso soup and feel it's a dollar more than many other average sushi restaurants. I did like gave more tofu in their soup. RECOMMEND ULTIMATE HAMACHI ($19.00) - Salmon, avocado and cucumber. Topped w/ Yellowtail, fresh lemon slices, and ponzu. I was told this was one of the two most popular/ordered rolls off the menu. I was thinking this was going to be a very creamy roll with a splash of citrus and would love it but the yellowtail fell below standard for me. Although the piece of yellowtail is small and on top of the sushi resting underneath the lemon slices - towards the middle of eating roll the yellowtail seemed to have a subtle fishy taste for my liking (yellow tail should not be fishy). Perhaps it was the quality of the fish or what but something abut it wasn't it. You won't notice if you are dunking your rolls in soy sauce or letting the lemon slices hide the flavor but I was able to taste it. I ended up plucking the yellowtail off of my rolls and the rolls were up to standard as what I was expecting... creamy with a splash of citrus, that told me that the yellowtail was def off the night I ate there. I'm sure I'd be back but not in a rush. There are many other restaurants to be had. Until the next review...
