The food and service were great. Their rolls were fresh and delicious! We had their specialty rolls, nigiri, sashimi, udon tempura and bento box. Everything was delicious.

Pretty fire. The food was decently priced, staff were all very kind and helpful, and the restaurant is lovely. Lots of places to sit without the restaurant getting too loud. Lovely place to enjoy a good sushi dinner

Delicious sushi! Very good vegetarian rolls which are hard to find. Highly recommend the garlic edamame! Quick service and relaxed vibe.

After the North Park Book Fair my friends and I were pretty hungry and because it was so hot decided that Riki Sushi would be a good choice. My friend Heidi recommended it because she and a friend really liked it so I was so excited to check it out. When we came in we were the only guests, but that was fine with us, our server was really nice and patient. I ended up ordering the Chicken Teriyaki bento box which included, salad, a California roll, miso soup, shrimp tempura and sweet potato tempura, I opted to upgrade my roll to shrimp tempura roll. While waiting for the food we were vibing to the music, I really want to know what what playlist they use! Our miso arrived first, the soup even in the heat was perfect, it's pretty hard to mess up miso soup. Our food came out pretty quickly after that, I always eat the sides first prior to the main entree. I really liked my salad and the dressing it came with, it was light and refreshing. My sushi roll was pretty tasty too and the chicken teriyaki was just right. I appreciate that the chicken was grilled and wasn't overly sauced. Also they give you two pieces of shrimp tempura and sweet potato which was really nice, I've gone to places and they only give you one shrimp and random veggie tempura, so I really appreciate it. I love tempura sweet potato so I was definitely full from the sides that I got to take home leftovers. Later at night my husband ate my left overs and liked it too! Would definitely come back, it definitely satiated my craving and the service was fast and efficient, as we were leaving it got busier and busier but our server was still super attentive!

I don't say this lightly.... This is the best sushi shot in San Diego. I don't want a fancy sushi spot with $30 rolls. I want a nice normal place with good quality rolls for a reasonable price. Their rolls are soooo good I can't stop coming back here. Specifically I have a sweet potato hyperfixation and not many places have 1. A sweet potato roll 2. It's actually good. Riki really does it for me and I am their biggest fan. Almost every roll is under $20 too like that's unheard of.

Love this spot so much. The waitress and waiter are always amazing. Great food, great restaurant. Great prices definitely recommend!

I come here at least 1-2 times a month. The service is great and the sushi even better. Parking is always a hit or miss in North Park but it's worth it. I'm not a fan of krab so I've pretty much tried all the rolls without krab in it. I think you can substitute some types of fish if you ask. My go to rolls are: Yellowtail Special, Hillcrest, Washington, and Leo Loves Me Long Time. I also love getting the Nigiri Combo or a Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. You really can't go wrong with anything. I love this place. Vibes are great. I usually come here with a friend or eat by myself. I highly recommend.

Came here with my mans and my best friend and we loved it!!! The sushi was amazing, especially the summer roll. The prices are really good too for what you get! We ordered a little bit of everything: bulgogi yakisoba, karaage, miso, cucumber salad, seaweed salad, 5 different rolls and the nigiri. Miso was great, and rolls were delish. I will say the service is a little slow but nothing too crazy as it was pretty busy when we got here. Definitely coming back and can't wait to try more things on the menu :)

Have still been on the hunt for a good casual sushi spot and Riki is making it into the rotation! Stopped by on a Sunday night around 6 pm, and the place was busy but no wait for 2. It's spacious and clean, and service is quick. Most importantly, the rolls were all fresh and delicious! We got the spicy salmon (not very spicy, but solid), Big Bang (escolar, spicy scallops, and jalapeños- very yummy), and the Girls Night (bluefin tuna was where I stopped reading - the favorite of the night). Interesting diversity of fish and roll composition, and great quality, generous amounts of fish for reasonable prices = a win x4! The drink specials are fantastic too, with the beer + sake combos that are available all the time - Riki checks all the boxes and then some!

Riki Sushi is a solid spot for sushi, especially if you're in the area. The quality is decent--not bad by any means--but compared to other sushi spots in San Diego, it doesn't quite stand out for me. That said, I live nearby, so whenever we're craving sushi, this is usually where we end up out of convenience. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for a reliable sushi spot, it's worth checking out. Just not a place I'd go out of my way for.

Been here a few times and all were good experiences. Smaller place with not too long of a wait, prices are good and the portions are big. Lots of options and specials that they have. Would go back for sure. The spicy garlic edamame was probably my favorite thing so far.

Small little restaurant but it can hold a good amount of customers. Service was good. Tables and chairs could be cleaned a little more. I pulled the chair out to sit and there was sticky stuff on it where your back would be (chair has like opening on them not a full closed back chair). Had to go wash my hand. Sushi rolls seemed to be fairly priced but at least for tonight most of the items were bland. Spicy items didn't have a hint of spice to them. Presentation is average. Miso soup was only broth (no seaweed or tofu bits). Overall, it was alright but I wouldn't come again.

Came on a Saturday afternoon with a group of five. It was already quite packed by 4 PM. There were only two staff members handling both orders and service, so the wait time was fairly long. The food was just okay--nothing special, but reasonably priced. Service was fine given how busy it was. Parking was a bit difficult to find in the area.

I had debated whether to reserve upstairs or downstairs and ultimately chose upstairs and I was happy with that decision for the two of us, as it was a bit more relaxing and I liked the decor. There was however, a large table of about 8 people in the center of the room that were quite noisy. Downstairs definitely had a more 'hustle bustle' atmosphere with large booths and a long sushi bar. (There is also some outdoor 'Covid' style seating). We ordered sake, a couple of sushi rolls and negiri. They were kind enough to supply a complimentary birthday ice-cream dessert with a candle. Service was very attentive and as we passed the sushi bar on the way out, staff behind the bar waived goodbye. Parking: We were able to park near First and Laurel streets for free on a Saturday afternoon. A very classy sushi place. I definitely recommend a visit for a special occasion or perhaps if visiting nearby Balboa Park or the Old Globe Theater. Helpful?

The theme of Sushi MARU is truly attention to detail, and that extends from arrival, to service, to, of course, the food. Staff were incredibly attentive and easy to talk to, including the chefs. The food, I will comment on just generally as the menu is constantly changing (as is the case with many omakase): each dish was composed of pieces that complemented each other well and created a cohesive flavor pallette. Each nigiri was artfully prepared that emphased the quality and cut of the fish, and were complemented by flavors to further highlight that. The flow of the evening was non-traditional omakase, but it felt perfect. Price ($180pp) is not for the faint of heart, but is cheaper than others I've seen. There was no wait here but parking was a nightmare and there is almost no street parking right around the restaurant which is near the trolley tracks. I recalled coming here for a light dinner with my husband many years ago and thinking it was good, but expensive. I asked if they had Japanese soda for my daughter because it was not on the menu, and they said no, but after we came back from the bathroom the host had found one for us. They gave us chopstick helpers and were very nice. We ordered braised pork belly as an app and wagyu nigiri, albacore, hamachi, salmon belly, 2 salmons, and unagi. I think that was all. They nicely split the order so half had no wasabi for the kid. They were very considerate and I appreciated it. The food however took a while to come out. The braised pork belly was ok, but the fat had not rendered as well as at some other places so we ate around it. The flavor was good though. The hamachi was probably the best item-tender and tasty. The albacore was standard and a generous piece, but the salmon was a bit tough and my kid who usually inhales salmon tasted and then left the salmon. The wagyu had good flavor but was surprisingly chewy. For $26 I would expect it to melt in your mouth but it was not easy to bite through. The eel was very tender but had a weird taste, and was disappointing. I found myself chewing on a scale from maybe the salmon and was overall underwhelmed by the food. The bill for a soda and the sushi came to almost $150 after tax and tip for me and a 6-year old. Usually my husband and I and my kid go to places with better quality and pay the same price for the three of us. Will not be back.

The rolls were a good size and I loved how each had a fun twist (but at the same time not TOO crazy with their combinations like some other sushi places). You can tell it was designed with intention and each roll had a nice balance. The Luna Lemon roll was great with spicy tuna inside, salmon outside, and the soy dressing and shallot oil put it over the top. The Maru's Sushi - Toro roll looked so good in the photos so I knew we had to order it. The negitoro was delicious and did not disappoint. This was quite tasty, and definitely had a kick to it. -Maru Maru roll ($9.50): This had imitation crab meat, shrimp tempura, and avocado. A basic roll but still good. -Chicken katsu curry don ($16.95): This was disappointing because the portion was quite small for the price. I do like how the curry was packaged separately. All in all, Hakumaru has quality sashimi and rolls, but could work on portion size for chicken katsu curry don.
