Our food took close to an hour to come out and the quality of sushi was very low. There were very few offerings of actual fish mainly imitation crab. We additionally ordered the gyoza and they were incredibly dry, the wrapper tasted like uncooked noodles that were fried. We had ordered drinks a Thai tea and an iced tea and did not receive them till the end of our meal. It appeared that there was only one person working both the register and in the kitchen which may explain the wait time. An altercation occurred between a customer and the staff member while we were in the restaurant. Another patron who came to pick up an order was given a bowl with no fish despite it being a poke bowl. This lead to an argument between the customer and worker, with the worker FaceTiming her daughter in order to have her speak with the customer instead. Fair. Really meh. I love sushi - but good sushi. If I wanted grocery store sushi, I'd drive to the local chain food market and pick some up. It seems obvious that most of Su Su Sushi's business is take out. Pre-packaged stuff as soon as you walk in. Draft beer is on the menu (hoping for a good rice lager), but all of their beers, sadly, are bottled only (you have to grab one out of the cooler case by the door). I opted to eat there, since I was ordering soup and didn't want to lug that back to where I was staying. Ordered a California Roll, Miso Soup and a cold Jasmine tea. First out, and it was pretty quick, was the California Roll. Waited for the rest of my order, because I was thirsty and didn't want to start eating until I got something to drink. Waited for my soup and Jasmine tea. Waited. Ten minutes later, out came my soup. Yes, it was hot. But I waited for my Jasmine tea now. Another ten minutes and out that came, with a shrink-wrapped top on it and a boba straw? Very perplexing. Sushi tasted like it had been made way earlier in the day. Rice around the roll was VERY pasty. Not a whole lot of flavor. Wasabi was enough to add a kick, but a small squirt of wasabi was all that was given. Miso soup was not bad. Broth was interesting; not the worst I've had, but certainly not the best. Jasmine tea was refreshing, but I wish it had come out with the rest of my food. Decor is nothing to marvel at. Basic tables like you would find at any primarily take-out restaurant. But it was hot in there. Door is open with a ventilation pipe of some sort pointing outward, but that didn't help the feeling of slowly melting in your chair, without anything to cool you down (my tea), and then eating pasty-rice encrusted sushi. I've walked by here so many times I can't even count. Next time, I'll keep walking. There are other sushi restaurants in the area, albeit they are much pricier. When it comes to sushi, you really do get what you pay for. read more

On the fridge counter they were offering Pork Buns, a few basic rolls, and appetizers like gyoza and krab salad. You will need a few minutes to read the menu as the font is small but they have many options. We noticed they use a machine to roll the sushi, so definitely not the authentic roll you are looking for, however, pieces come out neat, the sushi rice is good, and the nigiris are big for its size but a decent cut of fish. We ordered the Salmon Combo and Hot Crunchy Roll. Salmon Combo (4/5): Six pcs of salmon and tuna sushi, two tuna nigiri, and two salmon nigiri and drizzled spicy Mayo and eel sauce. All of it was pretty balanced and tasty. Hot Crunchy Roll (4/5): Imitation Krab with sriracha and spicy Mayo. Topped with delicious fried onions. For a deli type of establishment, it's not bad, however, it's not as cheap as I originally thought it was. For what it is, I give it a 3.5. Unlike a traditional sushi dining experience. there is no flair, no pre-eats, no high affluent choices. And that is what makes this eaterie relevant. Delicious rolls that are plentiful, in a non-pretentious environment. You could easily dine-in and go and if you have at least an hour, it could be a quick date or lunch or solo, or just because. Hours: 9am - 9pm according to the very kind employee who helped me out today I live in the area and just realized this new addition on a Starbucks run. Great location and looks like a great setup for both dining in and takeout. It was just before 11am and there were already a handful of options to grab and go: California rolls, Dragon rolls, dumplings. I grabbed a prepared Golden Dragon Roll and ordered a Tuma Poke Bowl. Service was quick and friendly and they were playing the World Cup game. It was empty barring one other person doing a pickup, but it was kinda early for sushi. The quality of both was incredible! Service is absolutely non existent here. No staff in the restaurant when I arrived at 6:15pm although 3 tables sat. I waited and finally yelled "hello?!" and a man walked out from the back. He gestured the bar because I was alone. Sure. He goes in the back again after I take a seat. 15 mins later and no water or anything. A female server comes out to her tables and then sees me and looks surprised. So the guy didn't tell anyone that a new customer came in... smh. I was ready to order by then so the lady took my order. I waited another 15 minutes for my water and 25 minutes for the sake and sushi. The food is Ralph's quality. I wish I saw the other review that said that. I ate about half my food and then decided I couldn't bare to stay any longer. I wanted to ask for the bill, but again, no staff for a long time. We came here at about 3:15 on a Saturday. We were the only customers there. The servers were attentive and kind. Ee loved the casual atmosphere. Takeout convenience is the best attribute of this newly opened sushi spot in the Bankers Hill neighborhood. Su Su Sushi is certainly not a dining destination like the more well-known Japanese establishments nearby. With that being said, they have a lot of table space inside which I don't know how they will fill up if the big selling point is grab-and-go sushi. There is bar seating too, however I don't when or if an alcohol license will be granted. The menu had a long list of basic sushi and poke bowl choices, including catering capabilities if you needed party tray quantities. Don't expect nigiri, sashimi, or exotic fishes though. Only a core set of maki roll varieties were premade and placed on refrigerated display next to the service counter. The setup was a larger version of what you see in the deli section of the local grocery stores. The size and prices of the rolls were similar with these being more freshly made. The top row of the display had plastic containers each holding three BBQ pork buns. I chose one of those and a Chef's Special for my order. I asked the buns to be heated because I was dining in. The dough was fluffy, but the BBQ pork filling was low. A better ratio of meat to dough would have been an improvement. The Chef's Special was 15 pieces of a California Roll base with salmon and/or tuna wrapped on the outside of 12 of them. They were arranged in a colorful formation on the tray. If buying average quality maki rolls to-go are what you are seeking to satisfy a craving, then Su Su Sushi is an alright option if you live or work in its vicinity. If you want gourmet, higher end sushi, then there are better places for that on the same block. read more

I just threw away $17 because the food I received was inedible. I ordered a poke bowl and they came back to me after several minutes to tell me they were out of my first choice of protein because they "couldn't find any shrimp in the freezer". I should have cancelled my order then and there and left but I changed to tuna and left with my to go order. I got back to my office and discovered that the tuna was really mushy and the rice had a thick layer of mayo all over it which was not listed in the menu- I hate mayo and would have asked to have it left off. Very good sushi rolls. Nice addition to my neighborhood. Been here a few times. You don't have to purchase the premade rolls in the display case unless you're in a hurry. They always made mine while I waited. I've had the caterpillar roll, tempura shrimp roll, California roll and Philadelphia roll. They were all good and fresh. They also have Poke bowls on their menu. I think once they get their liquor license and begin serving beer and wine, it will be more attractive for dine-in. read more
