So I decided to give Riko's another try and I'm quite happy I did. Last time I was here about a year ago, I didn't love the taste and quality of the pizza. Today, I was very pleased with my meal. I ordered takeout and the staff was extremely warm and welcoming. I ordered a margarita pie which I thought was flavorful, and the sauce was delicious and nicely seasoned. The Caesar salad was great and I like that there are different sizes you can choose from. The wings were good, and enough meat on the bones and a flavorful buffalo sauce. Visiting my hometown we went to the new pizza with outdoor dining facing the beautiful and quiet Hempstead Turnpike (sarcasm). By now you know they specialize in thin bar pies. We tried the meat lovers along with a salad. Both were acceptable but not memorable. Worth a visit but a suspect it won't be a regular for many. Growing up in New Hyde Park it was always about Eddies and more recently for me Grimaldis it is. Not a spicy guy so I can't give you that hot oil pizza review. What I can tell you the restaurant is super clean the wings are really good the pizza is better than Eddies. Probably off day for service just a bunch off girls hanging out at the end of the bar gossiping. Not saying everyone should be busy but our server was part of it and felt like we were bothering her pulling her away from her gossip time. The wings themselves were a little soggy. They could use some time in the broiler or maybe even on the grill. The hot oil pizza had a nice kick to it which was nice. The crust was crunchy. But the cheese and sauce weren't all that, they kinda tasted like supermarket/Chuck E Cheese Pizza, same for the plain pie. But maybe that's why my kids enjoyed it so much. The Ceasar Salad lacked cheese and dressing. The sangria was very fruity but needed a little more alcohol. The Riko Pilsner was tasty and refreshing. Holy moly im such a wuss it was really hot to me but really good. Very very thin crust and lite cheese. Reminds me of skinny pizza in roslyn. We tried the chicken wings (bbq and buffalo) and they were tasty. The manager Mike is very friendly and attentive ,as are the staff. They have a nice set up for outdoor dining, with heat pumped in the area. Only area of improvement would be the metal chairs - they are not comfortable.
