The outdoor patio is fantastic, and can seat 4 at each table, with larger groups reserving space at a longer table. The weather was perfect the evening we were there. There is plenty of parking. We had the 8 ounce angus burger and the brie, bacon, and beer burger with slender, deliciously seasoned fries. A wonderful meal, with a very pleasant staff, who made our night out very enjoyable. Stopped in for a quick bite off the happy hour menu. Don't make that mistake. We ordered the cheese fries and sliders. The cheese fries were beyond terrible, cold & undercooked and the cheese was lumpy, thick & spicy. Could not eat at all, bartender never noticed. The sliders were over cooked, even the bun was burned. Very dry and hockey puck like. Not once did the bartender ask how the food was or if we needed anything and when she finally did (after we were clearly done) she made a remark about how she doesn't like the cheese used on the fries either. Had lunch there this afternoon. We both got their delicious burgers (not too big AND not too small). Decent menu (nothing fancy), service was very very good and the atmosphere was just right. I think this is one of the best restaurants in the area, I moved down here 4 years ago and have tried most of the food places down here Riley & Jakes had me hooked from the first bite of my first burger there. The food portions are decent the quality of the food is definitely that of a 5 star restaurant and the wait staff is always very attentive. I have tried something new every time and have not been disappointed as of yet. I would recommend the nachos with beef and the pretzel burger as these are my favorites so far. read more

Riley & Jake's is located right on Route 31 just north of downtown Clinton. It's where the old Sunset Inn used to be located. Not sure what year they closed down but I'm pretty sure Riley & Jake's has been the only place since. We came on a Saturday night and the place was not too packed. We were seated immediately but they did seem to get busier as we were leaving. The menu isn't very large. Apps, salads, sandwiches, burgers and entrees. For our apps, we had the Bavarian pretzels and an order of the hot wings. I did like the pretzels but not as much as everyone else at the table (I feel slightly guilty admitting this but I love TGI Friday's pretzel appetizer). I think part of the reason I wasn't that big on the pretzels was because they were served with mustard and not a cheese dipping sauce. I'm a sucker for cheese with pretzels. Don't get me wrong, they were good. The waitress really sold us on the wings and they were solid. I'd give them a nice C+/B- grade. Not as good as she made them out to be but still solid. I am a bit of a wing snob so take that with a grain of salt. I'll bet you've never heard that -- a wing snob. They weren't breaded the way I like them and could have used a bit more of a kick. They were served with pretty standard blue cheese but they did give you a lot of celery which is always nice to dip. For my meal, I had the Cajun chicken salad. It was a decent size, had a fair amount of chicken but it was a bit on the bland side. It was pretty uninspired. It could have used some other ingredients. It was also served with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing which is actually a bit odd for a Cajun chicken salad. It probably would have been better with some sort of spicy ranch or avocado vinaigrette but they didn't serve anything like that. I'd probably stick to sandwiches and burgers at a place like this. I thought it was decent. For the area, you probably aren't going to do too much better. They had a few interesting drafts on tap, including Long Trail IPA which was very good. The prices were pretty standard and the service was solid. The manager was also very accommodating with our party which was nice. I'd have no problem returning but I'm not rushing back. read more

We first started going here last summer. You can sit out on the patio around back that has a bar and tables. I ordered the pretzel burger, which came out really tasty. The nachos are layered with cheese (not all piled on top), and the wings were really good. Went back a few times and everything was great. Then, the last two times we ate here, the food was not as good. The bun was stale on my burger, to the point that a knife and some serious muscle could not cut through it. Also, the fries were soggy. When it got too cold to eat outside, we sat inside. The carpet is old and the interior a little dated. I ordered the brie bacon and beer burger and it came out with greasy onions on top and the bun was cut lopsided and fell apart. Will probably go back once the weather is warm enough to sit outside again. The service is really good, everyone is friendly and we never felt rushed. read more

We've driven past a hundred times and finally stopped in for an early dinner tonight. I absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere was old school, it felt comfortable and reminded me of the restaurants I used to go to as a kid with my family. The food was really good and the prices were very reasonable. We got wings for an appetizer, buffalo and bbq. Both were very good. I'd go there again just to the eat wings. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the bacon beer Brie burger which was cooked perfectly. Everything was wonderful and the staff was very friendly. I can't wait to go back. I went to Riley & Jake's about a month ago and my wife and I were not all that impressed. I had steak, which was cooked to my liking, but the vegetables were not all that great. The staff seemed "corporate nice". Not very warm or authentic. I got the feeling there were internal staff conflicts as nobody seemed friendly with each other. I was disappointed that there was no remodeling since it was the Sunset Inn years ago. Still all dark wood, dark carpeting. Overall you couldn't tell if the place was clean or dirty because it was so poorly lit. I think with a face-lift inside, and more attention to some food elements, it would be a great place. Place is a nice neighborhood pub. Staff is friendly, and they try to make an effort to remember repeat customers. Food is good for what it is. A lot of the appetizers are microwaved and you have to pace them otherwise, the food comes out too fast. Burgers are great. Service is always friendly. They have different specials each night. Wish they would change their fries though. I am not a fan of the shoe string style and they are usually not hot enough. It has a nice bar and we go there quite often. A lot of mixed reviews! And I must say we had had mixed experiences here. Service at the bar is horrible but ok in the dining room. Not a fan if their draft beer between dirty taps and flat kegs, but decent cocktails and cold bottled beer. Not a great selection but they do offer some specials. We have had great appetizers, from wings to pulled pork sliders and awesome pot stickers. Entrees, however, are a mixed bag. Steak arrived well done not medium as ordered, but they did take it off the bill. Stir fry special was great, but chicken and sausage rigatoni very bland. Chicken pot pie and fried clams are both tasty. We have never had room for dessert though. read more

First time at Riley and Jake's although we have lived in the area over 13 years. Had a great meal. Fish and Chips were cooked well and delicious. My wife had the Brie Bacon Burger and enjoyed it. This is a great little, family friendly, restaurant that had a good crowd for a Saturday evening. Had a small birthday party of nine and what a great time. The drinks, food and service was outstanding. Our party started with calamari, nachos grande and Riley & Jake's wings. The flavors were spot on. The group had Brie burgers, spare ribs, fish and chips, buttermilk chicken sandwich, crab cakes and chicken and pasta. Everyone had a fabulous meal. The portions, flavors and great service made it a very enjoyable evening. The nice part is that the place was packed and we still had wonderful service. Went here a few times with the family for dinner. A good place to go if you have kids...they eat for free a few nights a week, and the setting is a comfortable one for them. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was nothing spectacular, but it was definitely fresh, and a big improvement over what used to be in this location. We have passed this place numerous time heading from NJ to PA. Read the reviews and still decided to give it a try. Parking lot was full but still got a table of 4 (2 kids) right away. Place was bigger than it looked from the outside. Bar looks nice and the decor is not updated but that is the motif. Went with the burgers, wings and kids chicken fingers....everything was great! Food was quick, fresh and tasty. Good draft menu, Weihenstephan, Long Trail and the usually suspects. Server was right on. Walking out any server we past said good bye and have an nice night...so they obviously are trying. 4 stars because it was spot on but I didn't venture off the "it better be good" menu. read more

The interior was not what I expected - and neither was the food, which was fantastic! The Rush Hour sandwich was served hot (a surprise) and was delicious. Husband had the ribs and loved them (and he's hard to please). Service was great - the host who greeted us, our server, the food runner - everyone was super friendly. A different server even bussed some dishes from our table as soon as she noticed they were empty. Nice outdoor patio with live music sometimes, which is great. The food tasted good - wings, burgers and fries - nothing unusual, but fitting for the environment. Our waitress was friendly, but she seemed a bit overwhelmed as she also seemed to be the bartender as well, so she was running around. One downside - and I'm not sure if anything can be done about this - there's a completely run down motel right next to the property that is a complete eyesore. It's falling apart and the doors are open to some of the rooms, which seems to be asking for trouble. Other than that, I'd recommend this restaurant overall. read more
