We've been here a few times and food was not that good. This last time though, our appys were delish, I love the pot stickers just wish there were more on the plate. The burger was very good , calamari came out looking sad and soggy but to my surprise they were cooked perfectly and tasted good. I'm looking forward to going back. Just wish their bar area was larger. There was no room for us. Since I posted the above we have been back numerous times and each time the food was great!! From steak to fish n chips, it's been consistently delicious. Wait staff friendly and attentive. We were back again tonight and the service was bad. We discovered this place recently following a birding trip to Spruce Run. We've returned twice and really like the place. Good burgers, chicken fingers, pulled pork. Good brews. The service is just fine. An amusing anecdote though. On two occasions we have been seated next to truly obnoxiously,overloud people. You know the type. People who feel their lives are so fascinating that everyone in the vicinity must learn of their exploits. The first person felt that she was lawyer of the century regaling her companion with landlord tenant stories. The next loudly told her dining companion how she made her husband clean the toilet! Went here with the family last nght. I was looking forward to trying this place as I pass by every day. We started out with the nachos as an appetizer and ordered them with meat for a few dollars more. These were a disappointment, as there was about a tablespoon of meat on them, and they tasted like they were microwaved, with a side of tostitios salsa. I can make this at home. Kids ordered chicken fingers which were disgusting. I had the Brie and bacon burger which was pretty good. The service was very good. My husband and I just left Riley and Jakes having stopped there for dinner on our way home because we were starving and decided to take a chance. It was our first and last visit to this local bar/ restaurant. We orders wings to start which tasted like they had been sitting around for hours precooked and then refried to reheat. My husband ordered the Cajun Burger which was nothing special and no Cajun spice was detected. The fries were also not fresh and looked limp and were inedible. I ordered the gumbo soup which was too salty and looked like it was sitting around. But it was flavorful. On a positive note our waitress was pleasant and kept our sodas filled. We were driving back from wine tasting in the area when the husband suggested we grab a bite to eat. This is a cute local family restaurant and bar. The bar area was packed as it was a football Sunday. We sat in the restaurant area, no view of the TV's here but that was ok. We had a few drinks and dinner. The husband had a turkey burger which he loved. My sandwhich The Rush Hour was too bready and was just ok. Damn it these burgers are good! I went with brie, bacon and beer burger sans beer braised onions (just not my thang). Juicy burger cooked perfectly to medium as specified, crispy perfect bacon, and two slices of Brie to add just a bit if extra decadence. Second time here, same exact burger, same level of awesome... Traveling up North for the Memorial Day Weekend so this was an unplanned stop. Based on Yelp reviews, we decided to check it out. Loved the "Fried Pickles". BBQ Brisket Sandwich was very good. Meat was so tender, it fell apart. Service was great! If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back. read more

Ordered an 8 ounce angus burger medium well: it arrived small, charred on the outside but PINK IN THE Middle. Tell Zagat that medium well now means pink in the middle. The peanut butter pie cake wasn't particularly good either. My most recent dining at the next nearest house-become-pub (Finnagels) was much better; next time I pass this place I'll keep going. We tried this place a year ago and everything from the cleanliness, atmosphere and of course the food was completely disgusting. We promised ourselves we would never go back and have since not returned but we have had friends go there and tell us the experience was just as bad as ours was a year ago.This means the management hasn't done anything to fix the problems, so save your money find somewhere else to eat. read more

Let me start off by saying you can smell the food as soon as you open the door, and it smells delicious! Not to mention the burgers are just as delicious!! The staff is so friendly and warm and make you feel like family. They truly go above and BEYOND and really show how much they appreciate their customers, which is quite rare these days. Riley and Jake's is the Jekyll and Hyde of the dining world. The outside patio is beautiful, and just what the area needs, but the inside needs refurbishment...badly. Their food is tasty and they have many solid choices. The burger on the pretzel bun is delicious, and we've enjoyed many of their other dishes as well, including the fried calamari, the reubens and the fish and chips. The food is yummy, not amazing, but you'll probably leave saying that your meal was good. That works well outside, where you enjoy the atmosphere and the great weather. However, if you go in side, that same "good" becomes "not really great" due to the musty smell, the tired decor and the awful back rooms. I hope they spruce it up soon, because we'd love to go here more often! read more

This place is good. It is literally on a highway, but it has a nice enough outdoor seating area. The roast beef was very good, the others in my party were not as impressed with their meals. I think the atmosphere is very good. They celebrate St. Patrick's the right way and almost always have some type of drink special going on. Overall a good place. read more

First time eating an early dinner here. Seated quickly and waitress was attentive. We all agreed our meals were good, but nothing over the top, which is why I gave a middle of the road rating. I ordered a pretzel burger and was surprised when it was served with sweet potato fries. Not something I eat and luckily they were very quick in fixing the error to regular fries. Burger was good however, after a couple bites I noticed I had the same bun that my son had for his chicken sandwich. Wasn't going to bother asking why I had a regular bun vs the pretzel bun that I had ordered. Definitely was not a pretzel bun like I've had at other restaurants. read more

This place does not officaily open until Wed. 12-14-11 however they were open this weekend with a limited menu. Appears to named after two children whose picture adorns the front door. This place use to be the old Sunset Inn which stood for 25 years and closed up in October. It was sold and the new owners refurbished the place with new carpet, tables, chairs etc. I had the hamburger which was better than average with thinner (McDonalds type) french fries which I actually prefer. Other patrons in the place also seemed to like their burgers. Place is clean, reasonably priced and looks like to be a sure winner for good food in the area. It is nothing like the old Sunset Inn. Last June, my new wife and I were on our honeymoon, traveling north through New Jersey. It was Sunday and nothing was really even open except for Riley & Jakes. I couldn't actually comment as to the food, since we were denied service. My wife and I are both decorated veterans and she has a service dog. Even after calling ahead and receiving no indication that it would be a problem, we were not only denied entry inside, but to the patio as well. It's actually more embarrassing that it sounds to have to publicly educate ignorant middle aged food service employees in New Jersey as to the ins and outs of the Americans With Disabilities Act and how it applies to granting access to public establishments. Waitress and manager were more worried about money and other stuff then waiting on the customers in the dining room. The outdoor patio is fantastic, and can seat 4 at each table, with larger groups reserving space at a longer table. The weather was perfect the evening we were there. There is plenty of parking. We had the 8 ounce angus burger and the brie, bacon, and beer burger with slender, deliciously seasoned fries. A wonderful meal, with a very pleasant staff, who made our night out very enjoyable. This gem is our favorite restaurant. I have never had an unsatisfying meal here, all of the food is fresh, home made, and delicious! Great for a family occasion, date night, or Sunday football.
