Came here for the seafood buffet, it's not offered daily and it's considerably more expensive and there isn't earning any free seafood buffet so you're getting taxed All Round. Time tax: Unless you are rolling with someone in a higher tier of the players club you are going to wait. Sad but true, Maybe I was at fault for arriving as late as I did around 7:20pm but I wasn't sat until closer to 8:30. The line was peculiar. So many people skipped ahead. There was only one person at the register. Occasionally the nice blonde manager lady would come over and ring a few parties up, the line went fast for a few seconds, but the chap at the register only worked fast when the manager came by. Otherwise he took his sweet time, he'd only rush if another VIP waiting to skip the line showed up. It was often, this buffet is popular and the skippers show up in force, especially late. Server Attention Tax: the servers on a normal day work hard, they close at 9:00, they warn you when 9 approaches and it's a wrap, on the seafood buffet days they are not motivated, because they stay late. They act like they aren't getting paid for the extra time. I sat down around 8:25 and no one took my drink order till like 8:40. I was worried I would get a single plate but to my surprise they didn't shut down shop right at 9:00 in fact they were still seating people. So that was cool. But the servers are in no rush. I don't want to get all Mr. Rogers about it, but if you get me my beverages sooner, I'll get out of your hair sooner, you are literally prolonging your own suffering here. The seafood Tax Rebate: the seafood is good, fresh fish, crab legs and all the regular sides. Crab is offered seasoned crab boil style or plain steamed, make sure to wander around. Overall: I love to eat good, I'm not crazy about flights, hotels or hardware stores because I don't think value necessarily is affected by where you go. (There are a few exceptions) I think service flavors cuisine, Here the service isn't adding a respectively great flavor. Sure if you spend a lot of money here you should get some priority but even Vegas doesn't forget about the little guy. I felt sorry for the people with kids in the line. Even though my server was slower than forest growth I still tipped them. But like value lost the taste was unpleasant. If you don't like being exposed to prejudice I assure you the 'regular line' WILL make you feel like you have no civil rights. It has been several years since I have been to the Tucan Charlie's buffet. I would rate the food a 4 star and the service a one star. As far as the food goes, the selection isn't as quite as good as it used to be, but still pretty good and a lot of value. I always like the Asian wok option and the meat station where you can get prime rib. I also like the gelato option for desert but I miss the banana cream pie. As far as the service there were two different interactions that made me feel this way. The first was at the Asian wok station I asked when the meat options were, and instead of giving me the 3 options, the lady pointed to a sign that was not close enough to read where I was standing. My wife and I visited Toucan Charlie's Buffet at Atlantis Casino on Saturday, the Fourth of July, and had a mixed experience. Knowing it would be a busy holiday, we arrived "early" and joined the line at 4:12 PM. The buffet opened at 4:30 PM, and the line began moving as expected. However, after about 30 minutes, progress slowed to a crawl. By around 6:30 PM, we were finally near the entrance, only to discover there were two additional priority lines for Sapphire and Diamond Monarch Rewards members. We eventually reached the cashier at approximately 7:15 PM - more than three hours after getting in line. The holiday buffet was priced at $65.99 per person, plus tax. Once inside, the experience improved considerably. We were escorted to a spacious, comfortable booth, and the buffet itself offered an impressive variety of cuisines, including Japanese, Korean, Indian, Mexican, and many other international selections. As for the food, it was a mixed bag. Several dishes were excellent - fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. Unfortunately, other items were disappointing, arriving lukewarm or cold when they should have been hot and freshly served. The inconsistency kept the overall dining experience from living up to its premium price. One area that truly stood out was the dessert selection. The variety was impressive, and the quality exceeded our expectations, providing a sweet ending to the meal. If you're planning to visit, I strongly recommend making a reservation through OpenTable to avoid the extremely long wait, especially during holidays and weekends. It's also worth joining the Monarch Rewards program if you dine here regularly, as members receive discounted buffet pricing (for example, weekday lunches are significantly less expensive for members). Went on a Sunday. Waited in line for 20ish minutes to get checked in then seated. Service is good and polite. Not fast, but good. I ran out of water twice. They had very little fresh fruit to choose from. They had cantaloupe, pineapple, oranges, and apples but the apples and oranges you had to peel and cut yourself. Stay away from the Mac N cheese. Looks great, but Kraft Mac N cheese has more flavor. Tried the steak, it had flavor but it was tough. All the seafood had flavor but was overcooked so it was dried out. The crawfish were the only seafood that was not over cooked. The dessert bar was ok. I had a brownie and 3 different Gelatos. Vanilla, coffee and chocolate. All of those were good. We stopped by for Sunday dinner. It was busy but we were seated within 5 mins. We got lucky and scored one free adult meal since someone had a free voucher that was given to the next customer, which happened to be us! I was blown away and slightly overwhelmed by how big this buffet was. There were so many options and different cuisines to choose from! We tried a bit from each station and the food was decent but one complaint I would have is that everything was really salty. One place that stood out to me was the pho station. I had no expectations and didn't think it would be as authentic as Vietnamese restaurants. However, it was pretty legit in my opinion! It had a good flavored beef broth. The rice noodles were cooked perfectly, al dente and not soggy. It's basically a DIY pho bar. The sever working the station was pretty rude though. I don't normally post restaurant reviews, but I thought I'd share our experience from last night. My wife and I decided to visit Toucan Charlie's at the Atlantis since it had been a long time. It's one of the few places where we can both get exactly what we want. She loves seafood, while I'm more of a meat-and-potatoes guy. We arrived when they opened at 4:30 p.m. and still waited nearly an hour before being seated. I had a pleasant conversation with the manager and politely asked if that was considered an acceptable wait time. He paused for a moment, as if considering his answer, and replied, "Yes." He explained the reason, and his explanation made sense, so I thanked him. My wife headed straight for the crab, while I made my way through the buffet. The salad bar was well stocked, and the produce was fresh. I picked up a generous slice of prime rib along with several other entrées. Unfortunately, by the time I got back to the table, the prime rib had become dry and tough. The rest of the food was good. Then it was time to satisfy my inner fat kid. The dessert bar was the highlight of the evening. The gelato was outstanding, and the chocolate tart was excellent. Unfortunately, the mint chocolate cake was dry and crusty. The bottom line is that we paid about $60 per person for what was supposed to be a premium dining experience, but in the end, it was still a buffet. We did enjoy our meal, and I'm not saying it was bad. I just expected more for the price. For us, the value simply wasn't there, and I don't think we'll be returning to Toucan Charlie's anytime soon. read more

You could definitely taste it was sugar free and the lemon pie didn't really taste like lemon. Coffee gelato is always good. Our waitress struggled with our drinks. She was getting extra drinks than what we ordered, and it took me multiple times just to ask for a water. We had breakfast/lunch at Toucan Charlie's Buffet. When we arrived at the restaurant; there weren't that many people in queue but once we walked in to the restaurant, there was a large group (a girls basketball team) dining in the back corner plus a cluster of little groups all throughout the back part of the restaurant. Our server, Maria, checked in to take our drink orders as the rest of our party slowly made their way to the buffet. The buffet offered a variety of different hot and cold dishes, a mixture of breakfast and lunch selections. Everyone in our party was able to get something they liked and at our fill. Service was was excellent, Maria and her associates were very pleasant and attentive, the huge selection of food was great, most of the food tasted delicious (the prime rib was a little tough), the buffet was a little pricier than most sit-down restaurant options but you get a huge variety of dishes to choose from and eat as much as you, it's kind of worth it. Really friendly chefs that prepare your serving dishes like prime rib, Mongolian BBQ, Pho, custom salads and more. Servers are always friendly. It's been 5 years since we've been back to this plentiful and excellent buffet. It's located inside the Atlantis Casino, there are massive parking lots which are full every time we came. The price now is $66, but there are many ethnic food stations, seafood, salad bar, desserts, everything you can think of, except lobster tails or lobsters. The service is excellent, the plates are moved as soon as they're done. The line was long on New Year day. I love the fresh oysters and shooters. The snow crabs are sweet and tasty with melted butter. The Chinese salt and pepper prawns are big and better than many restaurants out there. Lobster ravioli is very nice, a little rich for my wife but great for me. I found the gumbo at the Mexican station extremely delicious. The tacos are great too. The rare prime rib is a little chewy for me. I took my time and sampled many different dishes and I love them. They're all great. The clam chowder a little watery but I liked it. We lined up around 4 PM for the buffet which opened about 4:30 PM. By around 5:30 we made it to prepay, and after this we got a receipt. Once you get the receipt you can come back at any time to be seated. So we came back around 6pm to be seated as some members of our party wanted to do some other activities before eating. The food was amazing. I loved the lobster ravioli and lobster stuffed mushroom. The roast duck and ahi poke were also standout options. I also enjoyed the shrimp ceviche, taco bar, lox bagel, and shrimp skewer!! The brisket and crabcake were not that good though -- brisket was flavorless and not very smoky, though it was fatty, and the crabcake was weirdly sweet. Dessert is where Toucan Charlie's shines: the coconut macaron and creme brulee were sooo good (i was very impressed by the creme brulee as the surface was still hard and bruleed!). To my chagrin none of the South Lake Tahoe casinos have buffets anymore. Toucan is the only option in the area so we made the hour drive. It was what I expected. It's Vegas style buffet 30 years ago. Yes that's right Valentine's Day unfortunately when we clad called in the beginning of Feb all reservations were taken so we decided to get there at 3:30 and stand in an insanely long line. The carver was very accommodating as usual, I prefer beef that's a little on the moo side and he always goes out of the way the find a cut appropriate for my taste, after all, the moo moo is already dead so there's no need to kill it again by overcooking the meat. My friends from out of town always want to do a buffet when in Reno and this is probably the go to place for a very good buffet. One note, they had green beans almondine, it was a hit because it went fast, I would have preferred it without the almond slivers, I just think it takes away from the green beans, but then I don't like nuts in general so that may be my bias. I have to remember to let the server know not to put ice in the pineapple juice, it just waters it down too much, after all nobody puts ice in orange juice so why would you put ice in pineapple juice. read more

This makes it pretty vegetarian friendly as you can pick and choose what to add into your own entrees! They also offer a vegetarian broth for their pho which is pretty delicious! Also love the diverse dessert options available including pastries, gelato, fruits and more! I will say I don't think I ate $40+ worth but had a great experience nevertheless!
