    Cheesesteak

This cheesesteak was probably one of the best I've ever had! Service was friendly. Cozy spot for lunch.

I'm rating it 4 stars just for the wings alone. AMAZING WINGS!! Great sports bar in Stowe along with solid cheesesteaks. That's all I've ordered there so far but it's all I may need to order lol Decent beer selection, pool, Big Buck Hunter Pro, 10 TV's, and a laid back vibe.

The greeter was so cheerful and he also seated us and took our order by memory and I thought gosh, I already like this place, but then the food came out and sadly none of it was memorable. The nightly special of a half rack of ribs needed more sauce as all you could taste was smoke char. I flipped them over to see what was going on and they were beyond burnt, even the bone tips were black. The nightly special pulled pork sandwich was bland and definitely benefited from the added flavor of the coleslaw. Both the wings and potato skins were also surprisingly lacking in flavor, although the spicy dipping sauce for the skins was good. Probably a good place to come to for a drink or to play pool or an arcade game as the atmosphere is lively, just skip the food.

Great food and EXCELLENT service! We were stuck with 1 hour+ waitlists at other nearby restaurants and were lucky to find this hidden treasure.

I don't like having to leave this review, but if you ever find yourself in Stowe and your not local, your business is neither appreciated nor wanted. Avoid this place. Service was slow. Many tables and chairs were reserved for locals that weren't even there. I found one stool empty at the end of the bar that hadn't been cleaned up yet from the previous patron and asked the 2 women sitting there if it was available. They said it was so I sat down and waited. And waited. And waited. The bar is L shaped and I wanted a beer and some of the taps were on the other section so I got up to go see what selections were available. Maybe 30 seconds. When I got back to the seat one of the employees was cleaning the bar where I was sitting. So I sat down. He told me that the seat was taken. To which a small argument followed when I said I've been sitting here waiting for 10 minutes for service. I only got up to go look at the taps. He then tells me that there was a couple that's been sitting where I was for the last 3 hours and that I couldn't have been sitting there and even so, there's another couple that's been waiting 2 hours for those seats. He then pointed to the other section of the bar and told me to go sit over there. So I did, while moving the reserved sign out of the way. The couple sitting next to that seat were locals and told me those seats have been reserved and empty for several hours. The guy that told me to move seems to be a manager or maybe the owner. Don't know, don't care. He's got an attitude problem and doesn't hide it. I did finally get a beer from the Female bar tender. She was much more pleasant to deal with but still slow. They only seem to want to cater to locals and the visitors can just go somewhere else. Also, the beer I wanted to try, they were out of.

My husband and I decided to stop at a Rimrock Mountain Tavern. They had a beer battered cod sandwich special. The sandwich was topped with coleslaw, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. The fish was cooked perfectly and the flavor was amazing. My husband had the Tavern Burger and said it had a wonderful grilled flavor and was high quality meat. Our server was friendly and attentive. The manager also stopped by several times to chat an make sure things were okay. The restaurant was clean and attractive. I would recommend it if you are near Stowe VT

Disrespectful or understaffed establishment. Better off making a reservation at The Bench for adequate service and food.

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

They use the Yelp waitlist, but I couldn't join it until we showed up to the restaurant, which was a little confusing. We ended up sitting at the counter by the wood fire, which was neat to watch. Our server (Jenn) was awesome. My drink was very pricy ($18), but it was pretty tasty. Everything was absolutely delicious - we got a Mac & cheese and 2 burgers with fries. I love that it's all farm-to-table. Would absolutely eat here again and *highly* recommend it.

Every bit of food was prepared just right. We did eat a pineapple salad that was so fresh and crisp and not overly dressed, which was on the Specials menu. Con - none of the 4 of us even liked our meals - they were inedible. We descended the narrow steep staircase into the dark dining room; outdoor seating was not open. The waitress promptly brought us menus and waters. There was a good variety of wines and we settled on the Sancerre. Charging for bread is not a good trend so $10 for 4 Parker House Rolls was disappointing. We also ordered the mussels and asiago fries. The chef seems to favor creamy white wine sauces - the added cream adds a heavy taste without adding flavor. The shrimp & sausage on mushroom ravioli had the cream sauce and cubes of sausage. The pasta primavera also had the cream sauce. It was super bland. We added chicken (see the photo of the chicken breast added to the top side of the dish not cooked in the dish). The salmon and its corresponding carrots were spiced with bebere which is very mild but not particularly enjoyable. And finally, the grilled rib-eye was bad, really bad. It was gelatinous and the worst steak we've ever had. I've only ever seen a steak cooked like this when it's cooked at too low a heat. We fed the leftover steak, chicken, and salmon to the dog.
