Basically, this is a bar that serves food. I had the chicken strips with fries. On the negative side, both strips and fries were both frozen prepackaged. On the positive side, they were cooked properly. The meat tasted fresh and was hot and juicy with a crisp crust. The fries were crisp and well-seasoned. My spouse had a quesadilla that was fresh, hot, and tasty. For beverages, I had iced tea that tasted freshly made. My spouse had a smoked lager that he tells me was the best beer he'd had in Vermont. It was dark, smoky, and slightly sweet. The place seemed a bit understaffed, but the guy who seated us and took our orders was pleasant and helpful. The wait for food wasn't bad at all. Cozy tavern in the heart of Stowe that is great for groups or just to catch up with a friend. There's an arcade section at one end of the bar and a ton of seating throughout the restaurant. I really enjoyed the historic ski pictures and decorations on the wall. Stowe Cider on tap was great and $8, while the Rimrock burger was decently priced as well. When it comes to tavern food you really can't ask for much and I enjoyed my meal! Sometimes you really just want a great burger with greasy fries. Also, the owner was super nice and our service frequently checked in on us. Great staff and establishment and I will definitely be back in the future! This may have been the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant in Stowe. I love the area and have never had any complaints. However, the service at Rimrock's Mountain Tavern was subpar at best. The waiter was rude, crude, and had an unattractive personality. The restaurant was dimly lit. Lastly, I wouldn't feed my meal to my dog. In short, I'm giving a very generous one star because it wouldn't let me leave zero. The food was mediocre, and the waiter we had did not make up for it. I've read other reviews saying that one shouldn't expect good service if they are visiting from outside of Vermont. It is very true. You'd think, however, that a town boasting some of the biggest tourism in the state would be better. As I said, even my 1 star is generous. read more

The greeter was so cheerful and he also seated us and took our order by memory and I thought gosh, I already like this place, but then the food came out and sadly none of it was memorable. The nightly special of a half rack of ribs needed more sauce as all you could taste was smoke char. I flipped them over to see what was going on and they were beyond burnt, even the bone tips were black. The nightly special pulled pork sandwich was bland and definitely benefited from the added flavor of the coleslaw. Both the wings and potato skins were also surprisingly lacking in flavor, although the spicy dipping sauce for the skins was good. I don't like having to leave this review, but if you ever find yourself in Stowe and your not local, your business is neither appreciated nor wanted. Avoid this place. Service was slow. Many tables and chairs were reserved for locals that weren't even there. I found one stool empty at the end of the bar that hadn't been cleaned up yet from the previous patron and asked the 2 women sitting there if it was available. They said it was so I sat down and waited. And waited. And waited. The bar is L shaped and I wanted a beer and some of the taps were on the other section so I got up to go see what selections were available. Maybe 30 seconds. When I got back to the seat one of the employees was cleaning the bar where I was sitting. So I sat down. He told me that the seat was taken. To which a small argument followed when I said I've been sitting here waiting for 10 minutes for service. I only got up to go look at the taps. He then tells me that there was a couple that's been sitting where I was for the last 3 hours and that I couldn't have been sitting there and even so, there's another couple that's been waiting 2 hours for those seats. He then pointed to the other section of the bar and told me to go sit over there. So I did, while moving the reserved sign out of the way. The couple sitting next to that seat were locals and told me those seats have been reserved and empty for several hours. The guy that told me to move seems to be a manager or maybe the owner. Don't know, don't care. He's got an attitude problem and doesn't hide it. I did finally get a beer from the Female bar tender. She was much more pleasant to deal with but still slow. When we sat down her was upfront and told us food may be a bit and the earlier we get it in the better so we got a cold round and ordered...great TVs and atmosphere even a few pool tables if you play..Wings are bomb prob right next to docs and burgers wraps were also very good... beers a bit pricey we realized after getting tab but all around great bar, good people, and even better food highly recommend. Visiting from out of town, pulled in to Rimrocks on a whim. Food was FANTASTIC with great prices. My mom and I shared several appetizers: the hummus was homemade with fresh made pita bread along with great veggies; the mozzarella sticks were homemade and so tasty; the pretzel was perfect; and the chili was some of the best we've had (and were from the south). The atmosphere was chill and casual; you can tell a lot of locals visit. The service was super efficient and attentive. The manager was also making rounds and talking with folks, which lets you know they really take pride in their establishment. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. In a location devoid of sports bars with tv, this place shines. Food is hands down bar food. But the service and the TVs make up for it. Prep yourself for huge portions. The wings are really good. Zero stars available? Sat at the bar twice - 2 consecutive days. Sat for at least 10 minutes each time without a greeting. Same two female bartenders. Neither one of them are paying attention to what's going on. I could have poured my own beer and they wouldn't have noticed. Left without a greeting or a drink both times. Awful. This is an awesome late night fall/summer bar. Its got a local feel, but you can just walk in and get a beer at night. There's a huge patio area, descent sized dance floor, and an amazingly fast bartender. I met up with a small group I had just met at the snowflake resort early in the night. They said they'd be there, and as we walked in.. well there they were! Our two groups merged to take up one of the giant tables on the patio (next to a st. bernard puppy). As we got drinks, and whiled the night away, groups of people would join and leave us. We only showed up here because we were starved and trying to find food after 10pm in Stowe is an exercise in futility. We were told at that hour their kitchen only served chicken fingers fries and mozz sticks. Beggars cant be choosers so we took what they had. The chicken fingers were surprisingly good; this place obviously turns into a rowdy bar wanna be "club" after 10..lots of drunk girls dancing to hip hop in one area, crowds gathering at the bar..backwards baseball caps..you get the picture. One bartender refused to serve us because we had Eagles gear on which I thought was pretty ridiculous considering that's YOUR JOB but luckily we had Matt. The food was delicious as well!
