Dishonest Owner that won't admit overcharging me! On a 99 cent Taco Tuesday, I ordered two tacos and a drink which amount to roughly $6. I didn't realize what I paid at the time due to the busy lunch hour. My math is bad, but I didn't think what ordered would cost $6. Unless the drink had some medical longevity properties, I wasn't going to pay $4 for a small drink. After realizing the error, I wanted some clarification from the cashier. I said I wanted the 99 cent tacos. The owner stepped in and shouted over me said "it was your fault for not clarifying whether you wanted soft or hard taco. We charge regular price for the hard taco." I said I wanted the 99 cent Taco at the time of the order! At the time of my complaint my food wasn't prepared and I wanted to correct the mistake. They didn't allow me to do that! I asked for a refund and they didn't allow me that either! I could've HULK SMASH the freaking place if it weren't for the two cops dining at one of the table watching the drama unfold. $6 is really not a big deal to me, but dishonesty, raising your voice, and blaming me for your stupid mistake is. This place is as close to authentic Mexican food as it gets. It is family owned and operated. During Lent they actually serve chiles rellenos made with pasilla chiles - unlike many non-authentic places that use Anaheim or California chiles. My only knocks on this place are that it is small and my horrible AT&T cell phone service gets no reception so I don't think of hanging there for very long. read more

My child attends Kumon next door to this place and I always noticed that they had a lot of customers. Well I finally tried it the other day. I ordered the carne asada super nachos, albondiga soup (meatball soup), and a cheeseburger combo. The nachos had a bunch of lettuce on top which I've never seen before, and the meat was bland. The bun on my kids cheeseburger had specs of mold!! MOLD!! The fries were nasty too, they were old. I didn't try the soup myself but my mom said it was just okay. I'm never buying food here again. Upon entering, it has pretty cute decor, 4 booths.. pretty quaint and quiet. I ordered a chicken quesadilla to-go. I could tell the chicken was Kirkland canned chicken. The cheese was just some sort of white cheese (no yellow cheese, or even a mix of white and yellow cheese??). Bland. Tasted like... food. I usually like my quesadillas with salsa in it, or at least something else.. They didn't even give me any sauce or ANYTHING. At home, I had to put asian chili sauce on it. And I even cut my own avocado to eat with it.. Even after that, it was still nothing satisfying. I don't see how this place is still open. read more

I actually chuckle at the fact that people consider this authentic mexican food. I came here once and I'll never return. The tacos were dry and had no flavor, beans were ok and my rice was cold. I wish I loved this place as much as other yelpers bc it's local to me but I was extremely disappointed. If you're looking for authentic this really isn't it but hey, to each their own. I see reviews all the time about how people think this food is flavorless and how the workers are rude. I have been eating here for four years and have never had the owner say anything rude. He is always happy to see me and my boyfriend walking in here. He knows our orders and is a sweet heart. As far as the food goes, I have had better but for a college student who has little to no money for an authentic amazing Mexican restaurant $13 for my burrito and my boyfriends taco combo is way worth it. I love the chicken burrito, stuffed with chicken beans rice and cheese. My boyfriend inhales his tacos every time. I have never been disappointed in this food. The chicken is shredded in the restaurant I can tell it tastes fresh. I love the wet burritos. Basically anything you get here will be great. I'm sad that people are not happy with this place. A small family run Mexican food place in Claremont. Like I said it is small so not a lot of space for seating here (4 booths and 2 small tables). They do have two small out door tables too. This place gets busy at lunch, prices are decent and so is the food. I got the carne asada burrito ("with everything" = rice, beans, onions, cilantro). It was a decent size and had good flavor. They also have a small salsa bar with some decent salsa. My fav is almost always the spiciest one at Mexican food places. They don't serve alcohol but the guy did "they're working on it". That would be cool to have a corona with this meal... I also tried the pastor but was not a fan. The meat quality was ok, just didn't have the taste of "pastor"... Absolutely the best hole in the wall dive joint in Claremont you can choose to eat if you LOVE authentic mexican food. If your going to go, just go for it and try something you dont normally eat. Rincon azteca is seriously the best place to go for awesome tacos, burritos, and surprisingly they have amazing french fries too! Great Burritos here! I know the owner pretty well because of one of his sons and they are extremely friendly. They also have free drinks and a discount for students that attend Claremont High School! The place is clean and simple, very pleasing to the eye. Soccer and sports fans will love this place they have 2 large televisions for you to stare down while you eat. They also recently included 2 new television menus which is pretty nice. We stop in here often and I always enjoy the food. I love their salsa, it is has real taste, not just hot. My husband can't have much salt and I've adapted to less salt myself so most other Mexican food is way too salty for us. We go mmmmm with every bite of this food, we usually get the tostada. There are two little tables outside which are pleasant to sit at. We used to go to Los Jarritoes but their food is so salty that's the only taste you get and I can't even tolerate it any more. Not a food safe location. The front and back doors where open to let air flow Wichita let's bugs in to their open kitchen. I watched the owner drink from a cup and empty it out and place it on top of the stack of cups to be used again by a customer. No hair nets are being worn. Just ate here. Walked in an two employees were engaged in their language conversation. Whatever it was regarding was not going well. My take was one being fired.
