I've passed by Rincon Escondido many times but never got the chance to actually dine there... until last night! I finally stopped by with my best friend to enjoy the beautiful weather and great food. This is definitely a place where you do not want to come on a time table. Sit back, relax, enjoy your company as the food comes out for you indulge! The location is in a small shopping center off of Biscayne with plenty of street parking across the street. There's construction on both sides which can be a little challenging to find parking, but not biggie! Oh, and definitely use the cross walk. Way to many accidents happen on that street. So on to the GREAT stuff! The restaurant is small and so "homey." I love all the little details and even the decor in the bathroom. They have a few tables outside and you definitely feel like a home dinner indoors. So let's start with the service -- Damian is great! So sweet and gave us some great recommendations. We started with a beer and sangria. The sangria was perfect, not too sweet and lots of fresh fruit! For the tapas, we had the queso, croquetas de bacalao, papas bravas, gambas al ajillo, and the potatoes in a cream that they give complimentary. Everything was absolutely delicious. The gambas (shrimp) come with fresh bread and it was just perfect to soak in the sauce that they are cooked in. So worth it! For dessert, we tried the flan and it was perfect; the texture, the flavor, everything! Overall, my experience was excellent! I love supporting small businesses that are making their mark in the culinary world in Miami. This is a great place to catch up with friends, family, or even a date! Holy mother of everything holy! My daughter and I went down to a concert and came across this place for dinner. It was to say the least unbelievable. We got several things on the menu and I don't even know where to begin to describe the amazing flavors of everything. We got the octopus which was juicy and delicious not even the least bit dry. We got the chickpeas, of course, that were crispy and flavorful. We got the cheese - which was creamy and delicious. Every single item on the menu that we got was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. It is a small location, and the parking is a bit tricky. But it is so worth it! read more

This was probably my favorite meal during my time in Miami. It is tucked away and very small, but such a great find. We ordered the seafood paella and an octopus tapa to share. The chef, who is also the owner, was so kind and personable. He took the time to talk to us and you just tell what a kind a hardworking person he is. Here is one of the best hidden gem's in Miami. There is limited seating but if you're here on a calm night, definitely sit outside for a nice scenery. The sangria is amazing and cheap. A bit pricey for a work lunch but i must admit the food was not bad. I had the churrasco with potatoes which was excellent. Unfortunately this place has taken on a common Miami scam to add $3-$6 dollars to every customers check approach to doing business. Without saying anything they will tag an 18% tip to your check an again without disclosure they will also tag an additional $3 to your check if you pay with a credit card. This practice became common with restaurants during with Covid and is a extremely scammish and an unprofessional way to doing business. Will not return to this place.. read more

We had dinner here last night and it was our second time. Just like the first, we were surprised how a quaint and rather small kitchen could serve such high quality and delicious food. Their cook(s) is talented and turn out simple and creative dishes that would rival larger and fancier kitchens and restaurants. Try this place if you're in the mood or in search of tapas in the area. We walked into this place not being familiar with the area and Wow! The food was excellent! The flavors, portions, service, vibe, all spectacular! We ordered patatas brava, calamari, Spanish tortilla, bombas de queso (fried goat cheese), and an empanada. The place itself is cozy and quaint. The staff were super nice and made you feel at home. Do you have reservations for Rincon Escondido? I only ask because I thought you should know reservations mean nothing here. MAKING OUR PLANS Reservations were made online for a 9 pm table of "four". I made numerous calls over the next few hours to confirm the reservation and add a fifth guest (busy signal every time). At almost 8 pm, they finally answer the phone and reservations confirmed (5th guest added to reservation "if needed"). I was asked if we are coming for sure. After saying yes, he proceeded to emphasize the question again, "are we coming for sure"; and again I replied YES. OUR ARRIVAL The outside was an unimpressive storefront but the rustic interior was relaxing and cozy. A small place with an open kitchen and just five tables... just noticed NO four tops available. We asked why a table wasn't held for us. After all, we had a reservation. And what was with all that "are we coming for sure" questioning earlier? We got an apology but that does not help the situation. He offered to squeeze our party of "four" into a small table (good that our 5th guest did not join us). Good table if having a cocktail but not for dinner (way too tight). After noticing the other tables were just seated (drinks on table but no food yet) we knew it was this table or none. OUR PREMATURE DEPARTURE We asked for water when we were seated and more than adequate time passed for the "only" server to bring water. After awhile we decided this was not going to work; the table was too small, they were short-handed and they really dropped the ball with the reservation (not providing an adequate table). And what a shame to leave too. I saw the menu offering enticing choices with fair prices; the room was comfortable and pictures online looked appetizing; but our departure was necessary as they lacked customer service and a proper table. I arrived ready to try something unique and delicious and was hoping we found it, but perhaps it was not meant to be. Rincon Escondido means "hideaway" in Spanish and this could not be a more perfect name for this spot. The unassuming signage in this shady ass strip mall definitely would never have taken me to this place. However, once inside you feel very welcome in this is a very quaint and warm 20-top. What a find!! I can honestly thank Yelp for this place as the high ratings are the only reason I came here for lunch. They had a pretty attractive lunch special, but we opted to share a bunch of tapas. We had: Tortilla de Chorizo - traditional Spanish omelet with chorizo. Delicious and a pretty good portion size. Tabla De Embutidos - a charcuterie plate including jamon serrano, sliced chorizo, and manchego cheese - pretty large portion and enough to share with 3. Croquetas de Jamon - A lot better than the cuban version - more cheese croquette with ham pieces. Pulpo de gallega - Spanish style octopus - this is boiled and I prefer grilled octopus but not bad, especially the bed of sliced potatoes. Grilled octopus - Tastes exactly like the boiled octopus, not what I expected. Chorizo in wine sauce - Pretty traditional Spanish tapa. Can you really go wrong with Chorizo and wine? Honestly this is the best lunch I have had in a while, and definitely pretty authentic Spanish cuisine. I thought it was much better than Delicias de Espana and Cinco J's - both of which are great. Prices are also very reasonable. Along with a bottle of wine, coffee, and 3 beers the cost for 3 people was about $33 per person. Service was very friendly, and they even gave us a free dessert. Im reluctant to even write this review, because i would love to claim this little hidden gem for myself, but that would just be selfish. I found this place by accident, and its one of those if you blink you miss it, but WOW!! Its so cozy (fits about 20 max) and well decorated, weirdly enough its in a plaza, but once inside you're transported to a little cafe in Europe. Great service, great ambiance (candlelit, and spanish music playing in the background). The food is delicious. They have your typical spanish tapas, all our choices were tasty, that included the goat cheese balls with honey, the ceviche, and the calamari. What I especially loved was that they had nontraditional entrees like seared tuna served with veggies, lamb shank, pork loin, and the more traditional paella. read more

What an absolute shame that I will not ever get to enjoy their foods. We made reservations. We called TWICE to confirm the reservations. We ensured and assured them that we were coming. And to let them know we would be adding a 5th diner. And we did show. However there was not a table held for us, and the 4 tops hadnt even been served their food yet. We were dunked into a tiny corner, assured that we would be moved. I went to use the bathroom, there WASNT ANY SOAP!!!! I came back we were all still squeezed in threre. I was dying, from the heat of the Second Saturday work - we were thirstly and our appetites were gusty. I finally asked/motioned and had my girlfriend translate if we could please have some water. We then debated and considered our next step... Probably a 5 minute discussion. And the water never came. What a let down. My husband and I were searching for some new local spots to try out and El Rincón Escondido de España came up on our search. We thought, it's 2 blocks from home so why not?! We arrived at 7:30pm on a Friday and there was no one there, but we immediately felt at home in the cozy, quaint interior. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria and a platter of mixed cheeses and cured meats to start. The sangria? Blew me away! Instantly I detected the taste of cinnamon (my husband wasn't too keen on it) which gave it that special "Hmmm... What is that??" We also shared a tortilla with chorizo and a side of chistorras (Spanish sausages cooked in wine) and May or may not have had 2 more pitchers of sangria. What a surprise. My husband and I stopped in based on the yelp reviews and it was phenomenal. We walked up and I think both of us were a little skeptical because it was so small but you walk inside and it's super cool. Vintage movie posters cover the wall and duct work and the kitchen is right over a cabinet. Talk about authentic. They gave us a free tapa to start that was like potato salad but better. Then we got a garbanzo bean appetizer with bread that was awesome. The best part, hands down, was the sangria. It's not what you're expecting. It's got a cinnamon flavor to it that is great. El Rincon Escondido is a little hole in the wall, but OH SO GOOD!!!!. As soon as we walked in I was immediately transported to Barcelona. The decor is super cute, and the menu is very complete, but we decided to do wine and hot tapas. We ordered: Spanish sausage in sherry sauce (my favorite), shrimp sautéed with garlic sauce, refried chickpeas, tortilla Española, and the wine selection was great. The staff was amazing, and all from Spain. This place was beautiful, low key and it really had that authentic feeling to it. I just got back from Spain and happened to see this restaurant so I stopped by on a Thursday night with my boyfriend. I think they want you to have the overall European experience because the service was slow. There was only 1 other table with 1 guy and 2 kids dining. The food was okay, nothing to brag about. I most likely won't be coming back. I wasn't impressed by any of the plates or the service. I only took two photos of some of the tapas. "Rincon Escondido" sounds more romantic than "hole in the wall." This restaurant is located in a tiny property sandwiched between Papa John's pizza and a Central American convenience store. Driving by, it is easy to miss, and I had even walked past it multiple times, but I never noticed it until a Groupon caught my attention. I was impressed by the food and would *GASP* even return to pay non-Groupon prices. The pan fried covina fish in a garlic and lemon sauce, served with a salad with vinaigrette dressing, rice, and a few slices of grilled zucchini was excellent. I repeated "mmm this tastes so good" so many times that my dining partner became annoyed. The montaditos de boquerones (marinated anchovies over toast with minced onions, olive oil, and pepper) was also extremely tasty. I was least impressed by the pallea Valenciana tapa because I found the seafood to be a bit dry and the pieces small, but it wasn't bad considering the price, and the fact that the paella was prepared (or pre-prepared) quickly. I sat outside on the barstools where I was able to watch the eclectic parade of life on Biscayne Boulevard passing by. Within the time that I sat there, I witnessed a near head-on collision, saw an enraged driver get out to yell at the other driver, and heard angry honking horns from a different incident. I actually enjoyed this part of the dining experience, as it was more interesting than sitting indoors and looking at the walls. Whoever designed this place did an excellent job of transforming it into a little oasis that feels you're in a grandma's kitchen, rather than sitting next door to a Papa John's with its blazing florescent lights. The negative was that the service was not very impressive. The waitress contradicted what was written in the menu (said the sides described were an either/or option), did not know where the imported beer was from, and it took a long time for the fish to be served. There was also a man who repeatedly came outside to smoke cigarettes within a few feet of us. I subtracted one star because of these occurrences, but the food was definitely worthy of five stars. read more

The place is as small as it is good. We went first a few months ago and then came back with friends. The first time we went we were sad to hear that the paella had to be ordered 24 hours in advance so clearly we couldn't get it. The people sitting next to us were prepared and had the paella which looked amazing so we had to go back. This time we called ahead and we are glad we did. It was 8 of us which is basically 50% or more of the seating spots in the restaurant. We ended up getting a bunch of dishes to share but the core was the paella. It was really really good! I have an interesting relationship with paella, I love the concept, but many times I do not actually like the dish. I even tried it in a few spots in Spain and I was still a bit torn about it. Well, this place made me into a paella lover. The drinks were good too, the sangria was light but tasty and went very well with the food.
