Enjoy the taste of food made with love!!! My girlfriends and I met up at this little hole in the wall for dinner and we fell in love! It is a cozy spot with a home town feeling; nothing pretentious or fancy but rather, the simplicity that one enjoys when you come from a simple life and good old fashion home cooking. The service is fantastic, the ambiance is homely, and the food delicious!! We tried a little bit of everything and we were not disappointed by anything. From the chorizo to the grilled octopus to the amazing house salad, our palettes were delighted. We also tried the house sangria and it was the perfect combination to relax and enjoy the evening with friends! Terrible. We were here for 2.5 hours. Had to walk inside multiple times to get water. Took 45 minutes for the meat and cheese tray starter. When I walked inside to try to get water after waiting 30 minutes, a man who identified himself as the owner shouted at me "what do you want to do about it". I said I just wanted water. They finally brought empanadas which were frozen on the inside. I have no idea how this place has the reviews it does. What a surprise! This place is super tiny but the flavors coming from each dish were not. We came on a Friday night and it was not crowded at all. The four of us were sat immediately and started off girl's weekend with a pitcher of their red sangria. Super yummy! We ordered a bunch of dishes and the timing of when everything came out was perfection. We did not get bombarded with our entire order and loved that we had the time to truly savor and enjoy each dish. The octopus was so amazingly tender. Camille S who stated she did not like octopus gave it another go and is now obsessed and on the hunt for more. And the Miami salad...OMG! When Ratha M and Ivette C finally arrived, we ordered these 2 dishes again because they were just that good. Totally surprised with this hidden gem. First, let me just mention that the host/waiter/chef are all the same person and he sure does a wonderful job at keeping things running smoothly. This is a small place with maybe 5 tables inside and 2 outside. The chef/host/waiter tells you from the beginning that it's a one man show and food might take a bit to come out, but guarantees the food will be fresh and delicious. Well let me tell you he didn't lie about the food being great. All the food actually came to our table at a proper time. All dishes were delicious and cooked to perfection. We started with the Ham croquetas, these were creamy with bechamel sauce and little chunks of Serrano ham (sorry no pic), ate them too fast. Next we got the tortilla española which was made with the classics; onions and potatoes. Then we got the grilled octopus which I if it's on the menu I will order. Octopus was tender and very tasty with herbs, capers and drizzled olive oil. As a main dish we got the flank steak seasoned with rosemary and garlic. The side dishes were house fries which were amazing and side salad with a balsamic vinaigrette. For dessert we got the flan with a dollop of dulce de leche it was just perfect in texture and sweetness. Hands down to the owner who is running the show. Cute little place located on biscayne. It's not your typical Miami spot. As soon as you walk in you feel like you traveled to Europe or South America. Where people talk over wine and tapas and don't really pull out their phones much. Such an amazing vibe. The owners seem to be from Spain and Argentina so you know the food is tasty. We had the octopus, potatoes, sangria & shrimp. All incredible choices. The sangria is so well made and you'll feel it from the first sip. The guy who took care of us I'm sure was also the owner. Really lovely person. Attentive and kind even though the restaurant got packed out of nowhere he was still on top of all the tables. Hands down, some of the best tapas and bites in Miami! We had croquettas de bacalao: the bechamel center was silky and the crispy breading was light and non-greasy. The classic aioli elevated the textures and flavors. After reading and hearing gleaming reviews about this place, my boo and I decided to check it out. While we're usually weary of tapas-style restaurants for their exorbitant prices and measly portions, we were pleasantly surprised by Rincon Escondio. Here's the rundown on what we ordered: Bombas de Queso (aka fried cheese balls) - These were amazing and come with an orange blossom sauce that gives it a sweet little kick. Gambas al Ajillo (aka garlic shrimp) - Do yourself a favor and order these tasteful suckers. Patatas Bravas (aka potatoes with spicy sauce) - I mean, doesn't the description already tell you how great this one is? Potatoes + spice = magic. Garbanzos Fritos (aka fried chickpeas) - I'm not typically a fan of this dish, but it was pretty darn good. The chickpeas are mixed in a red sauce with chorizo and vegetables. Calamares Fritos (aka fried calamari) - This comes with a garlic sauce (damn, do I love Spaniards affinity for garlic) and are crispy, crunchy and yummy. The complimentary bread was warm and toasty, but doesn't make or break the restaurant. They also gave us complimentary tapas which were tiny pieces of bread topped with a mayonnaise based salad, which included peas and carrots. The name totally escapes me, but it was pretty good. This place is quite literally a hole in the wall with about 6-7 tables inside and 2 outside. While we didn't make a reservation, I would suggest that you call ahead if you're dining with a large party. While the service was slow at times (a big party came in and just went HAM on the place), our servers were attentive and welcoming (and always kept the water coming, a biggie for me when I eat out). It's a shame I never wrote a review for this place before - it would have been a lot better than this one. I used to come here pretty often when I lived just down the block - it was one of my favorite places to stop in to have lunch when I was running errands or something similar. However, I went back a couple weeks ago after a long hiatus and I was really disappointed. Both the food and the service were very uneven and a huge letdown. On top of that, it seems they've pared down their menu a bit, and some things I used to really enjoy are no longer offered. My boyfriend and I ordered a few tapas to share - patatas bravas, bombas de queso, garbanzos fritos, and one of their octopus dishes. While the bombas and the garbanzos were very tasty, their patatas have never been my favorite but they're OK, and the octopus just wasn't good at all. Even though it was cooked properly the flavor as all wrong. This dish had so much paprika you could barely taste the food. I love paprika and even for me this dish was outrageously overseasoned. The worst part is that it took nearly 45 minutes for this dish to come out. Each of the tapas came separately, which is fine, but a few minutes before the octopus arrived I asked if we could cancel it because it had been 15-20 minutes since we had been served anything else and it was just taking way too long. The waiters attitude was simply that everything is made fresh in house so that's how long it takes. Honestly, if I wanted to wait 45 minutes for a meal I would just cook it for myself at home. Also, on their menu, on the Paella for example, it says a 45 minute wait can be expected. So in come cases they do indicate that you'll be waiting a while if you order a particular dish. Because it took about that long and wasn't listed as something that you would grow old waiting to eat, I think it's likely the chef just forgot to make it or the waiter forgot to send it and instead of admitting as such just tried to make me feel like an asshole instead. It also seems like they've raised their prices some - and even if they haven't I was surprised to see that for a few tapas and a beer our tab was $70. The fact that the food was disappointing once wouldn't be enough to make me not return - however the waiter's terrible attitude when the service really was poor definitely makes me think twice about coming back. read more

By far one of my new favorite restaurants I've ever been to. I came across it today as I was originally going to eat at Adelitas next door but was overwhelmed by the crowd inside. So I walked right next to it and decided to have lunch with my boyfriend, what a treat! It has all the necessary components it needs. Plus, you can tell the amount of detail and thought they invested into the decor of the restaurant. We started off with some marinated olives and escargot, (the escargot was only $4.00!) Afterwards, I had the Smoked Salmon Montadito with Caviar and Cucumber: Surprisingly well-built and savory. My boyfriend opted for the Pork and Manchego Bocadillo (which I ate half of lol). I usually never really like pork nor would I order it but my goodness, it was to die for. The service was great and the Chef put so much detail into the dishes that it truly deserves recognition. I am definitely planning on coming here more often and will attempt to taste the whole menu. Yes, it is really that good! One suggestion I have is to opt for the Bocadillo instead of the Montadito as it is not only larger and more filling, but also has more substance. Plus, they are the same price. Along with the menu, they offer high-end Spainard delicacies for sale all across the restaurant which really adds to the appeal. My hundredth review! Rincon Escondido afforded me a crusade (my first of what I hope will be many crusades): a quasi-religious mission to do what I can to ensure that this place does not close down in favor of some god-awful chain or --- worse --- something like a day care center. No offense to any mothers, fathers, expectant parents, adoptive parents, and/or weird uncles out there. Actually, OK, I meant some offense. I hope you'll forgive my insensitivity. Seriously, though... Rincon opened up a while back, and I hate myself a little bit for waiting so long to check it out. Really, though, if you've driven by and seen where it is, I'm sure you wouldn't blame my (misguided) prejudice. I mean, that strip mall is where other strip malls go to die. Inside (because who can sit outside in the inferno that is Miami in May?), Rincon is something of a tribute to all the little things you love about the different homes you visited throughout your childhood: your aunt's china cabinet, your grandmother's chairs, the counter that is all your uncle has left from the corner market he owned that burnt down by way of an electrical fire, your cousin's vinyl collection. Your cousin's vinyl collection. This little tidbit comprised my second favorite decoration: the air vent that runs along just about the entirety of the ceiling is tiled with sleeves from old records. I have to say, it is one of the more creative things I've ever seen, and since I have no problem with thievery, I'm sure I'll one day steal that idea if ever I run my own little dilapidated bar. Favorite the first, for whatever reason, was this little bag of rice that just sits in the corner. Wait, not bag. A sack. And really, that's all it is. A freaking sack of rice. But sitting there in its little corner... I really can't explain why, but it almost reminded me of my uncle's farm. It's a rarely seen old world little addition to the overall aesthetic that just felt RIGHT. And this was just the decor! The first thing I'll mention is that the olive oil is infused with peppercorns, garlic cloves, and God knows what else. And truly, this was a great addition to the meal. I drizzled it on just about everything, and it proved perfect for the the slightly underwhelming potatoes (more on this in a bit). The food itself was pretty special. Special indeed. We started with goat cheese croquettes served in a little pool of orange blossom honey, and the sweetness of the honey paired with the cheese had a Pavlovian effect on me: just thinking about it now has me drooling all over my keyboard. Aside from the croquettes, (because the place offers a bevy of tapas), we ordered patatas bravas (which, honestly, could've used a little more in the "brava" department: they're listed as being a bit spicy, but they were anything but) and grilled shrimp (which, heads up, are served unpeeled). The shrimp, though tough to eat, were well worth the effort. They needed nothing. No cocktail sauce or lemon or whatever else is traditionally used on shrimp. They were grilled perfectly and just full of flavor. As a main dish, we ordered a chicken breast cooked in a mushroom and white wine sauce served with zucchini and potatoes. What I want to talk about a bit is the sauce... Usually --- at least in my travels --- very little wine flavor comes through. This dish, however, totally changed my wine sauce paradigm. Cooked with a white, the sauce was a little tart, though not overwhelmingly so, and it paired perfectly with the veggies and the ridiculously moist chicken. A totally special dish that I'm sure I'll order time and again. Finally, for dessert-lovers everywhere, I highly recommend the chocolate truffles. Now, after a meal like this and the bottle of wine we shared, it was a little heavy, but if you can find a position in your seat that'll allow for some more food to fit in your now bursting gut, then you really don't want to leave Rincon without this dish. Now, if you've made it to the end of my dissertation, may the Greek goddess Demeter bless you with a bountiful harvest. Furthermore, I hope I did my job in getting you to check this place out. It truly is the kind of place that should exist on every street corner, and because I never see many people when walking or driving by, I'm afraid it isn't long for our culinary world. So go! Now!
