Finding good Mexican food in Pensacola is a challenge, but we definitely found some good food here! The name seems to have changed. All the signage says "Taqueria Latinos," not "Taqueria Olgys." So don't be surprised when you find yourself at a different restaurant than you expected. I was ordering take away, so I didn't receive service in the dining room, but I will say the staff was quite friendly and accommodating. I ordered tacos and burritos. Both were very good; but for Pensacola I would say they were Excellent! The salsas were awesome! Very flavorful with just the right amount of kick for folks who don't like super hot salsa. I asked for salsa picante as well, as I do like super hot, and I was not disappointed. The chips they served were fresh, thin, and crispy. Just perfect! I looked into the dining room while waiting for my food, which was done quickly, and was impressed with the colorful decor. This is our favorite Taqueria restaurant. It's a Michoacán taqueria, they are from the state of Michoacán, and they do meats really really well. The state of Michoacán Mexico is where carnitas originated from. And their carnitas are 2.die.4. However, their carne asada & al pastor are also pure perfection. We have been coming here for about a year now & we LOVE everything. Especially the al pastor, carne asada & carnitas tacos. The chips & salsa & queso are the best in Pirate'cola. Moi loves the tiny chorizo queso they serve here :)... The surf & turf nachos I'm addicted to, the beef enchiladas are also 2.die.4, all the carne asada dishes especially the one with the cactus is phenomenal. This is the place hubby chose for his birthday lunch & the only place we want to eat tacos, period. The michaladas are very good, the small margaritas are so cute & yummy & you can also get a shot of tequila in a cute stemmed margarita glass. Ole! Wow! That was a loud mariachi band! We entered the restaurant through the only door and immediately we were in the bar face to face with the band. Thank heavens they were seating in the dining room not the bar! It was more tolerable there. Look, I love good music during a meal but when you cannot hear your dining companions, it is too loud. Yes I am old. They have done quite a lot to the restaurant since we first went and I love the changes. It looks more like a real Mexican restaurant now. There are a tremendous number of changes to the menu too. Basically everything has been "TexMex'ified". This is unfortunate. It was a very traditional Mexican restaurant when it opened. We went early on and I don't actually remember any menus at all. There were just photographs of food items on the walls. There also was no chips, no queso, no fajitas etc. Now all those things exist on the menu. They do still have traditional Mexicans street tacos but a lot of the other traditional Mexican dishes seemingly are gone. I'm not hating on the restaurant. They're still doing a good job! They just Americanized it. I get it. This is Pensacola. I ordered four Mexican street tacos and Helen ordered a shrimp street taco and their ceviche tostada. Both were delicious. I actually think the shrimp street tacos were the best of the four I ate. The ceviche is super fresh and delicious. The tostada is handmade in the restaurant then deep fried. It was nice that it didn't fall apart as we ate it. I ordered one asada, one al pastor, one shrimp, and one carnitas taco. All were great, but the shrimp and the al pastor were my favorites. The carnitas meat was very flavorful and full of fatty goodness! If you don't like fat these are not your tacos. These are the real traditional street tacos. The only toppings are onion and cilantro that's it. There were radishes on the side that were sliced pretty thick, so much so I didn't put them in the tacos. I just took bites of them as I ate. The tortillas are made in house and are sturdy enough that you do not need two, which is nice. Gone are the three salsas you see in pictures. You do have their regular salsa on the table and you can ask for salsa verde if you want the acid kick. I would have liked salsas like Tacos El Amigo has, but this is Taqueria Olgy's. Olgy's is still a solid restaurant, it's just evolving. I liked the traditional fare but I like the new stuff too. Is it better than El Asador or Tacos El Amigo? Nah, but it is good. My only complaint is that my tacos came out with cheese and lettuce (I'm white) and my hispanic husband's tacos came out with cilantro and onion. We're used to getting our tacos with cilantro and onion so I'm not sure why we weren't offered the same toppings. Taqueria Olgy's is a wonderful taco truck with a, impeccable flavor and good customer service. My sister and I passed by the place and noticed that they serve birria tacos, which I had been wanting to try, so we decided we had to go there. I got the birria tacos, my sister got the mulitas & mango juice and we got churros for dessert. The birria tacos are served with rice, lime and consommé for dipping. They are very juicy and flavorful. The mulitas have a generous helping of guacamole. We don't know what type of cheese they used but it was really good. We found the mango juice to be very flavorful and refreshing. The churros seemed to be fresh out of the fryer, they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything was priced very reasonable except for the mango juice which didn't seem to match the value of $4. The customer service was adequate. Nothing negative to say but nothing to write home about either. Atmosphere is about what you would expect outside a truck on gravel within a tarp in the southern heat with loud fans blowing. Not great. But I don't think there's a lot that can be done about that. Overall a great taco truck that I highly recommend you give a visit to. read more

This place was a shot in the dark. But it was so fantastic that I will recommend it to everyone. I got takeout and my driver was so excellent. Her name was Donna. I sampled 4 different things. Everything was top notch. If I was having a small dinner you could slide the food right onto your own plate and call it your own. And the dessert, flan, was some of the best I have ever had. Great place and the food that had cheese or sauce, it was hot . I have ordered from here 2 times and never got what I ordered. No doubt about it this is the real deal. This place is not like your Americanized Mexican restaurants, where you order combo meal number #4. That being said there are several challenges to overcome here. No English and my little Spanish only helped in ordering La Langua Tacos (cow tongue). They prefer to serve to serve to a more native or demographic crowd, you are now a foreigner, but sit back and enjoy. The tacos were excellent, the carne Asada (steak) was tough. The menudo soup was excellent. These are just a few items you won't find at a Taco Rico restaurant. The Chilies Relleno was the real deal, but surprisingly the tortilla chips and salsa were ok. If they had ground beef, this would be five stars, easy. It may be a gringo thing, but when I think of tacos and enchiladas, I think of ground beef inside of them. That's not to say that what I had was sub-par--it wasn't--but not as good as well-spiced ground beef (which is rare around these parts). I had three enchiladas with the salsa verde and a pork taco (see low-quality cell phone pictures). The enchiladas were pretty good. They had finely chopped beef in them, which was lightly spicy. There were some crumbles of a white, tasteless cheese on top, along with a snaking drizzle of sour cream. The pork taco was filled with spicy cubes of pork, topped with chopped cilantro...nothing else, as Benjamin S. noted. It was also okay. The shining star of what I ate was the salsa verde. Wow. Seriously, a bit of heat, a bit of vinegar, and a whole lot of flavor. I'd buy a jar of that stuff! Had a Mexican-made bottle of Coke to wash everything down. This place was alright. We were hungry and read some good reviews so we decided to check it out. I ordered a carne asada chimichanga. Everything seemed to me like it could have used a little more salt as the food was lacking flavor. I was expecting nacho cheese on top of the chimichanga so I was a little let down when I saw that it was Mexican cheese. It was still good though. Not too crispy, not too soft. This place used to be the best, our family ate here religiously. But ever since they expanded, the service and quality of food has gone down but prices have gone up. That doesn't make any sense. Regardless, I saw their food truck at the fair and decided to give it another go for old times sake. And boy was I not surprised at how disappointed I was with the food. The elote was extremely sour, and not because of the lime but the actual corn it's self, cuz not all of it was covered in the toppings is was like covered from one side only and it was cold. We started with the cheese dip and it had the consistency of milk. My nieces got the carne asada chimichangas and they looked microwaved they where not crispy at all. I got the four tacos tripa, lengua, cane asada and chorizo. Tripa was the worst I have ever had the other three where ok. My sister got the carne asada enchilada burrito and it was a soggy mess with old lettuce and no taste, also microwaved she sent it back. I always base Mexican food based on their Spanish rice and al pastor, which I entirely recommend if you're choosing your meat. I really like this place because its the closest thing to authentic Mexican food in Pensacola with their home-made tortillas and other good stuff. The female servers at this place are so kind that I feel like I'm having a meal at a friends home and their parents are taking care of me. The only complaint that I have, is that everything I've ordered was too salty like the beans and tamales.
