We had nachos, tacos, veggie fajitas, and the ranchadilas which was really just normal Mexican fare with some "ribeye" on the side. Everything was fine, bit nothing really outstanding. the "ribeye" was thinly sliced and lacked seasoning. Service was fine. This was typical Mexican food. We remarked that it seems the same at most places because its probably just coming out of big 5 gallon containers. The other place is better and worth the wait. read more

We arrived on a Monday around 6:30 after having traveled all day from various parts of the US. We were a large party of about six people and they were able to see us into a booth so we're all together. The server did take our drinks quickly, and I had requested their blood orange hard cider that they had on their drinks menu. When she returned with our drinks and handed me my glass, I took sip of it and immediately knew that it was a beer and not cider. When I handed it back to her and said I had requested the cider, she immediately went into " oh well I don't think we have it so that's why they gave you this." A little offputting as I drink cider because I have a gluten sensitivity. She asked me if I wanted something else and I requested another cider that they had on their menu. She did bring that back to me. For my main entrée, I ended up with the taco salad. I really appreciated the way they did their taco shell as it didn't feel overwhelming like a lot of taco salads can. I got the shredded chicken, but my peer got their grilled chicken and buy and far, I should've gotten the grilled chicken as there was much more chicken on their salad. Rio is a great spot! I've been here a handful of times, and the experience has been consistently good. My first trip was with a group of 7, including kids, and the service was attentive and quick. The next few trips were with a group of 2, and the service was just as quick, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere here is great for families and friends alike. It's a bit loud, but it's cozy and comfortable. They have plenty of booths and tables to seat everyone. I'm typically someone who switches up what I order, but I have gotten the same dish every time I've been here because it's just so good. I always go for the #4 combo, which includes an enchilada and a chile relleno, with a side of rice and beans. It has great flavor and can be made with the protein of your choice. Even though I tend to get the same thing, they do have a huge menu, so everyone is bound to find something they like here. Lastly, they have a decent size parking lot, so I never have an issue finding a space, which is always a plus. read more

We arrived right when they opened. Rio seemed clean and bright with a lot of large tvs. We told our waiter that we were ready to order as soon as we sat down and he was ready to go. Our waiter was awesome. Drew was informative, kind and efficient. We told him we were in a little of a rush and he got our food out to us fast. Thanks Drew, you were awesome. We ordered the enchiladas suprema and a wet burrito bowl. The enchiladas suprema was awesome. If you are a cheese fan make sure you try this. The burrito bowl was excellent also. Went to Rio On Main for my birthday. They were extremely accommodating and had quick service despite there being 19(!!!) people! Which was more than expected. Everything was ordered and out within 30 minutes. It was incredible and delicious. The portions are HUGE, no one left hungry. Started off with Oberon with chips and salsa. Came with orange slices, OF COURSE! Grenade wet grilled steak burrito. Better than Mexican town. Fresh! I ordered jalapeños and they have quarter sliced longways in the burrito. Yes! My wife loved the grilled zucchini in the veggie street tacos. "Tastes like summer. Arguably the worst Mexican food I've ever had and some pretty bad service as well. My mom and I stopped in for dinner and immediately noticed the poor customer service and lack of any enthusiasm from the staff. They were very pushy and rushed us when ordering as well even though we'd just sat down. Prices are high for what you get. You can easily go to azteca or other local chains and get better food for cheaper. The tacos beans and rice had no type of flavour, the chips were bland and cold and the pop machine must've needed a syrup refill because it was essentially water. Not to mention the server turned the lights and music and Tv off on us even though we and another group of two were still eating. Like I get that you wanna go home, but you're never leaving right at close working in hospitality anyway. Just an overall bad experience, overpriced and horrible quality. I'll stick to Troy and Madison heights for Mexican food. read more

What a FANTASTIC spot for Mexican food and drinks. We stopped in after our 5k adventure and were amazed to see all the beers on tap. I think we were both in shock and awe! Tap, after Tap, after Tap.......I dont' think you can ever have too many beers on tap. haha This place was recommended to me by a local in the area. He said they have the best tacos around. Now, this is a very strong statement to make especially with a very "well known" Mexican restaurant just down the street. Of course, we had to check it out. Walking in the door, I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the large red booths and huge bar with plenty of seating. We ended up ordering a variety of tacos and shared them. Honestly, the fish taco might be the best fish taco we've ever tasted. The shrimp taco was equally delicious. If you are in the mood for an appetizer, the Queso, chips and salsa were great. I ended up ordering a margarita and he ordered a mojito. The cocktail list is just as extensive as the beers on tap. Rio on Main is quite a distance from my house, but we were so impressed by this place that I plan to make a special trip back with my son. He loves fajitas and these looked amazing coming out of the kitchen. I can't wait to come back....I'm already mapping out my next visit. haha BTW, Esmerelda is an amazing bartender! Came in with my wife on a Sunday evening . We sat at the bar. They served my beer in a hot glass from the dishwasher. The floor is just soaked behind the bar with liquid. They slip and slide around. You can see into the back of the house from the bar and see employees eating and coming right back to mix drinks. The food is average Americanized mexican. My steak tacos fell apart while eating after the first bite. My wife asked for no onions on a Mexican pizza and it had onions. The bar selection is good it's just dirty and sticky. The music level was fine and the lighting is nice. The bar service could not care if your there or not. Not silverware empty drinks. They weren't busy maybe five at the bar. read more

Went to Rio on Main for the first time today. We went around lunch time so it wasn't too busy. We were seated right away. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. The menu was pretty large so we had a lot of options to choose from. Our waiter was good and attentive. The food came out pretty quickly (thank gosh because we were starving). I received a secret Santa gift card for this restaurant. Thank you very much who ever was my secret elf, you introduced me to a really great restaurant. We had been craving a Mexican restaurant to frequent since one located an hour away in the opposite direction seemed to go downhill. I was hooked with my first bite of the hot chips and yummy salsa! They have a great drink menu with a huge variety, numerous great taps, and very reasonable prices. I had the house marg for only $5.50 and a craft beer for the same price! Delightful! As mentioned, the chips and salsa were great, and the service was wonderful. We ordered several items, and they were all spectacular. The kids had a BBQ bacon burger and fries, and chicken quesadilla. The adults had a grande burrito so large it was big enough for two, and a combo plate. We all had leftovers, the portions were a nice size and the prices were very reasonable. I liked the fun, family friendly atmosphere, and they music was really great the night we were there! The restaurant is a nice size and can hold a lot of people. They accommodated small families to a large table of kids and adults celebrating the end of a sport season, plus they had a nice long bar for people to sit at as well. While eating the food, it resembled one of the other Mexican restaurants in the area, which I also frequent and enjoy. Apparently the chefs come from two of the neighboring restaurants, so the food has that familiar delicious flavor that I crave. Furthermore they had pretty poor service they forgot the lemons in our water. One of us ordered fries and the ketchup bottle they gave us had sour cream all over it which is nasty. I was a big Rio fan up until recently. They have always had amazing food and friendly staff. The last two times I've gone, it's been horrible. Today we visited for lunch. Both our menus were dirty and sticky. Our waitress was incredibly rude. I ordered chips and cheese with beef for my picky daughter, and hoped they had an ala carte price for it. But nope, they charged me $14.50 for chips with a sprinkle of cheese and beef. My flautas were literally dripping with oil. Saturated. I asked if I could get sour cream and guacamole and she said it's on there and points to a quarter sized dollop of each that I had completely missed on my plate. You used to get a small cup full. So that was a bummer. The chips brought to the table before we got our meals were the bottom of the barrel, all tiny, broken pieces, oil soaked. She seemed really unhappy and rude, the food was awful, so we decided not to order a birthday dessert and we left asap. This place won't last another year if they don't step it up. They were so good when they first opened but now they have poorly prepared mediocre food, rude waitstaff and the restaurant looked really dirty. We won't be back. read more

Slow service on drinks and food orders came out wrong. Pretty busy so that can be excused, but the saw dust "chicken street tacos" are some of the worst food I have ever tried to swallow. These things were so dry there wasn't enough salsa in the restaurant that could make them consumable.
