First, I have no relationship to Rio Verde Wireless except that I am a customer. Yelp: I am NOT a current or former employee, family member, competing business, and have NOT used Rio Verde Wireless services in a business-to-business capacity. Rio Verde Wireless provides Internet service to my home, guest house, and barn. These comments are unsolicited. I have found Rio Verde Wireless to be honest, responsive, professional, and competent. They have consistently resolved issues, including wildlife destroying cables or antennas, storm damage, and landscape interference with no drama and with the greatest respect. They have also fixed and been very tolerant of user error, misconfiguration, local firewalls, etc. Always courteous, patient, and speedy, even at odd hours, and willing to help or give advice. The (Internet) service provided is fast, reliable, and reasonably priced. We often stream multiple movies or music to TVs, iPads, and Sonos speakers, as many as six! My family, while working/studying from home, has been able to stream content, up- and download files and data, play interactive games, and use VOIP services to talk with friends and family. Services like Alexa and Siri are consistently connected. And our Link security cameras (which send video updates every 30 seconds to the Link servers) are online, recording, and available 27/7 without fail. Reliable service, but throttles your connection to 50% of what you pay for in nearly all situations where you would benefit from having faster speeds. We pay for their 100/25 down/up service, and I noticed that whenever our bandwidth usage exceeds 50% for a brief period of time - while either downloading or uploading - our speeds get throttled to 50% of what we pay for. For example, lets say you want to download a game from your favorite game distribution platform (e.g. Steam, Origin, etc.). You start the download, and it downloads at nearly 100 megabits per second as you would expect. After about 40 seconds, however, the download speed gets throttled to 50 megabits per second and will remain that way until the download stops and you've waited for a minute or so. As games nowadays are frequently 50 GB or more, this means that your download speed gets cut in half at less than 1% progress in this situation. Ridiculous. The throttling kicks in at around 450 Megabytes for downloads, and about a quarter of that for uploads, assuming you do not manually cap the speeds yourself. This is repeatable 100% of the time. If you cap the speed yourself using a program such as NetLimiter to something between 50-100 megabits for downloading, you will still be throttled, but it will take longer for the throttling to kick in. This means that the throttling takes effect when you reach X amount of data over Y period of time. If you manually cap your speed to less than 50 megabits for downloading, then your connection does not get throttled as it's already under the threshold. This means that in nearly every situation that you would normally benefit from having a faster connection, you will not. You will effectively always have 50% of the speed that you pay for no matter what. The whole point of paying for higher speeds is so larger downloads are finished quicker, and so you can have more devices streaming simultaneously. This throttling is network-wide and is not targeted per service. I've ruled out every possibility from our end (tested with multiple devices, different routers, wi-fi, ethernet, VPN, etc.) and every behavior points towards throttling by ISP. With an ISP, there's a reasonable expectation from the consumer that there will occasionally by issues with uptime due to maintenance or unforeseen issues, along with speeds occasionally being under what is advertised, especially during peak times. What is NOT a reasonable expectation, however, is that your speeds will always be throttled to half of what you pay for in nearly every situation where you would benefit from higher speeds. Put simply, Rio Verde Wireless engages in false advertising because of this. tl;dr, If you go with Rio Verde Wireless, keep in mind that you will effectively only get half of what you pay for. The only thing that makes their false advertising tolerable is the fact that they do not have data caps. Without the throttling, this review would be 5-stars. I am not a techie and Rio Verde Wireless has gone above and beyond to help me set up my router on more than one occasion. They didn't have to help me- but they offered to help me, and did so quickly and easily. Very pleased. Buyer Beware! Internet service is very poor and unreliable. The advertised speeds are not achieved, web pages do not load timely, streaming movies is nearly impossible due to buffering, voip is absolutely impossible. The owner is incredibly rude, verbally abusive, and unprofessional. He is argumentative and has raised his voice with us specifically with my wife on multiple occasions. North Scottsdale, Rio Verde, and Cave Creek homeowners and tenants should steer clear of this company. When testing the internet connection the signal is very choppy with large dips in signal strength causing the unreliable and unusable service environment. We notified Rio Verde Wireless by phone on numerous occasions in an attempt to seek improved service to no avail. Instead we were meet with dispute, excuses, and ego. Very poor customer service experience and total dissatisfaction overall. Again buyer beware. read more

Had nothing but great experience with Rio Verde Wireless. Nothing but professional and great customer service when they come out or when you call them. If you have an issue they always answer no matter if it is after 5pm or on the weekends. read more
