This is hands down the best pizza in Montebello, and top 3 best pizzas of all time for me. First of all, they use high quality ingredients. That's the most important part about making a good pizza. The mozzarella tastes REAL and delicious, not like other places that use the processed kind. The cheese to sauce ratio is perfect, you need to get the ratio right to equally taste all the flavors in each bite. And finally the crust, it's not thin but not too thick, right in between. They manage to make the crust crispy which I love! Now for the toppings, they NEVER skimp out on toppings. Rio's isn't the kind of place that puts one piece of pepperoni on a pizza so you and your friends end up fighting for that slice with the topping, you get mushroom and bell pepper and sausage in every bite which is awesome. We stayed in Montebello, CA on our most recent visit to L.A., to watch some Dodger games in 2017. We decided to go off our normal beaten path for our meals. We found Rio's on the internet and through Yelp and decided to give it a go. It did not disappoint. We decided to get 2 pizzas. First was a pepperoni and sausage and 2nd was a Canadian Bacon. These pizza were phenomenal. Lots of sauce and plentiful toppings. The best part about these pizzas was the cheese, lots of gooey, stringy cheese. We also had their garlic bread with mozzarella, which was alos very good. They have arcade games to keep teens and tweens busy while waiting for the pizza to arrive. Even myself the big kid got in on the action. This is definitely a must visit when in L.A. We will definitely be back. read more

Montebello Rios's has been part of our family dinner / parties for over thirty years. The last couple year's has been more disappointments than the GREAT pizza we always loved. Soggy to over cooked to flat crust unlike the fluffy crust we love. We continued ordering from here always hoping we would get the quality we always loved, but tonight's disappointment ends our gamble of hoping to get the great pizza we always loved. My family says the El Monte location is better so I guess we will have to start supporting outside of city. read more

I remember the days when my Montebello Indians Pop-Warner Football Team would hit this spot for a postgame celebration with our parents and those were the good ole' days, great pizza, good crowd, and a safe clean place to eat. My High School years were the same. I don't know what happened but this place has seriously changed. Everything from a rude young staff, apparently a good wino hangout now, to take-out pizza that's delivered with wrong toppings frequently. Owner's take a hint, it's just not the same anymore. My cousin wanted to get some pizza and beer so we went here hell he was paying so I did not care. I am used to going to bj's but he seems to be more of a Rio's man. The place to my surprise was empty as I have seen it in quite a while so no kids running around or ghetto montebello messicans getting loud obnoxious drunk and pissing me off. The pizza did not take forever like alot of times but noone was there so that answers that. Luckily for us they brought back south park pinball and the old simpsons four player arcade game and I got first place in the credits so that tells me it had not been there for more than a day so if you beat ANT pm me and it will be on.... The pizza was good per usual nice and hot. Gotta add some red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese for effect but I don't think they have tobasco or any hot sauces. Rio's is definitely a great spot to go to when I went to quench my hunger for a great greasy, cheesy slice of pizza. If there's no grease drip from the cheese or toppings...ITS NOT PIZZA. Ive had some incredible pizza and with that I will say that this is the best in Montebello. I usually order a large jalapeno or pepperoni pie (I remember the first time I asked for a large pepperoni pie over the phone the girl on the other end was confused, funny moment). Honestly, the sauce is as good as most of the good stuff at any random spot in NY. I cant give it 4 stars however because of the crust while it being great pizza for the area. Here is where most pizza fails. I understand that being from New York, I have a bias for thin crust, this is true. My main gripe isn't the thickness of the crust...It is that most of the time the crust is undercooked. I think this is because the recipe for the crust is too heavy and dense. There isn't enough air inside the crust so you end up with these chewy parts of crust that aren't too good. I fix this by ordering the pizza "Thin crust" which isn't really thin but is thinner then what you get at most pizza spots out west. When I order the pie like this the crust is usually cooked all the way through and the density of the crust doesn't make it feel like your chewing tough bread. Overall Rio's is pretty good for local pizza. I would recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

It's the "it place" for pizza in Montebello, fo sho! It's cheesy, it falls apart, it's greasy, it's doughy, but that's everything I love about this pizza. The pricing makes absolute no sense since a large pizza is cheaper than a medium but hey, I can't complain about more pizza. They sell pizza by the slice which is perfect when you're lonesome and don't have anyone to share with at the moment. The place is extra beat up, the wings are disgusting but I love the pizza THAT much! Rios has been our go-to spot since before we moved to Montebello. The wings, pizza, and cheese bread are better than any chain takeout option in the area. You will have to wait a bit for the food to come out, but food made to order typically does. I've noticed that there's a LOT of to-go or delivery orders that get ordered in between those who dine-in, so I guess that's why there's times it takes a while. It's always busy, but there's a waitress that is usually there who is fast and friendly. We'll continue to come here but we'll be careful during big sporting events when it's more packed than usual. read more

Cheese pizza was really good, very cheesy! Tomato sauce tasted just right with a little sweetness to it. The crust was a little too thick. Next time I will ask for less thick. There were lots of parking. Downside: There was no air conditioning on when the weather was over 90 degrees hot today. I had to wait for 25 minutes long just for the cheese pizza. The cheesy pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms hit the spot for our family! The spaghetti sauce was extra saucy ( I didn't even ask for extra) which made it even tastier! When confronted they pulled our order out from underneath the register and claimed they called it out...then when stated that it was not called out, she made it a point to ask two other employees if they called out the order...the other employees had no idea our order existed! The pizza at Rio's is so 'cheese slap in the chin' delicious. It's cheesy, the bread is thick and baked perfectly. A large pizza will feed a family of four and depending on the family's appetite you might even have left overs. It definitely beats the hell out of Pizza Hut. I have been eating Rios Pizza since the late 80's. I have to say I have been soooo disappointed the last couple of months. We eat Rio's every Sunday kind of a family tradition you could say. Lately there has been a lack of flavor. Maybe it's because there has been so little sauce on the Pizzas. The dough has been gummy or pasty like it needs some more time in the oven. I realize it gets busy and maybe there's a rush to get the product out but honestly I've lost confidence in the Pizza and the quality it was at one time. It's just been an ok pie lately. I never do Yelp reviews. But when you receive this, it's beyond upsetting. First it was raw, then it was burnt. We picked up an xtra large pizza last night for the family and came home with a sloppy, raw pizza that was falling apart. We called to let them know & they asked us to drive back & return it for another one... I said "absolutely not" I will not waste my time driving back for something that should have been cooked properly. So they offered to send another one asap. Since it was late & we were starving, we agreed. After 40 mins of waiting, they delivered us this... I couldn't even show on the crust!!! It was close to midnight so we ate what we could. Since rios likes to take their improperly cooked products back for "training" here's a few pictures... feel free to pick it back up this morning... We've been ordering Rios pizza for years & this has never happened. We understand mistskes happen. It's no problem, BUT when a customer gives you a chance to fix it, you might want to DOUBLE check the next order that comes out. This calls for being careless & lazy!
