We step in the restaurant right ways we saw the menu display and the pizza display showing what kind of pizza they make at King Cole. We decided to order a small Italian sausage and pineapple pizza and antipasto Salad and garlic bread and two drinks. The restaurant is small but some orginal decoration and with flat screen TV show games from baseball,football and other sports The waitress brought the antipasto Salad and garlic bread. The antipasto Salad was very wirh great flavors in the antipasto we enjoy it. The garlic bread was warm and very delicious with the garlic spead on the bread. Then the waitress brought the pizza we're amazing about the pizza it looks so good and crust have a golden brown and the cheese melt evenly round the pizza l. I took a slice of the pizza the cheese was very cheesy good when I pull a slice the cheese stretch,I know they use good cheese on their pizza. The Italian sausage was pretty with so much intense flavors with spices in the sauage and pineapple add it more flavor like sweet and crunch of the pineapple. My wife and I stopped in to get carryout, and found the expensive pizza to be tasty and the carryout process to be good. We've passed by this place many times on our way to visit our daughter's in-laws, and decided on this Saturday night to bring back pizzas for dinner. Didn't really plan ahead, so figured out what to order once we found parking in their dedicated surface lot (there were plenty of spots, even on the weekend). Didn't find any coupons on-line, so used their built-in specials, ordering two large one-topping pizzas for $44.95 (a large one topping is $23.25 + $2.45 normally)...a third pizza would have been $52.95 (buy two get one free). The pizzas were ready within 15 minutes, and tasted pretty good. It was a classic NY crust (thin in the middle, and a large thick outer crust perfect for dipping), foldable and had a generous amount of toppings (pepperoni one one, and canned mushrooms on the other) with a decent amount of cheese and a sweet simple pizza sauce that I enjoyed. I honestly preferred the King Cole Deluxe Pizza over this one, but if you LOVE ranch, I don't think it would hurt to try. I actually enjoyed the wings more than the pizzas here! The Buffalo Wings here have a unique flavor of sauce that is different from other buffalo wings at most pizza spots. It has a more prominent flavor of pepper that you wouldn't expect from a buffalo sauce, but the flavor profiles fall together quite nicely. The wings have a good amount of meat in them and comes slathered in the sauce, which I loved. Even with the big wing pieces, each bite of meat came with a strong punch of flavor. It also comes with a cup of ranch that is an absolute NECESSITY. I say once again, the ranch here is the good kind of ranch! The last item I enjoyed was the Rice Wings, and these were most definitely my favorite from the menu. They have the perfect breading to meat ratio with a crispy outside and a juicy inside. They definitely have inspirations from the flavors and style of Korean Fried Chicken with an interesting combination of American flavors. I got the Sweet and Spicy flavor because that's what the owner recommended, but I would love to try typical American wing flavors such as Mango Habanero, Honey Lemon BBQ, and Spicy Parmesan. The reason it is called Rice wings is because the breading is includes rice in them, which adds onto the crispy texture in every bite. Service: All the staff members I interacted with were friendly! Rarely have a bad experience, pizza tastes almost the same as it did when I was a kid. Small renovations and upgrades through the years, but all for the better. The service is warm and friendly as if you're being welcomed into someone's home. The menu offers various pizzas salads and pastas you may experience a price shock it tends to be a bit expensive here. The pizza comes hot with an excellent cheese pull. This is not the world's greatest pizza but it is the best Boyle heights has to offer. The only issue with the pizza is the price point. The wings are not the star of the show. The sauce is underwhelming and the wings meat ratio is very low. The surprise star is the antipasto salad. Everything in the salad is very fresh and tasty and pairs well with the savory pizza and wings. The restaurant charges for refills so be warned if you drink a lot of refreshments with your meal it will get pricy. There is plenty of seating inside and the ambiance transport you back to a time long forgotten but always remembered by the people that have worked here for over 20 years. Ordered using Grub Hub. This was: Medium (Regular Pizza) 4 top: Pepperoni, sausage, jalapeños, and bell peppers. Very low quality pizza. Paid $25 for soggy, wet crust, paper thin pizza(regular crust), and EXTREMELY GREASY. Ended up just tossing it. (Dispute with my credit card) Toppings are in excess and did order extra at all. Pepperoni gained no color from the baking and still appears to be in its precooked state. The larger bell pepper pieces and jalapeños were also still raw. Local pizza spots would provide superior effort in pie and topping prep for 1/5 of the cost from that of King Cole. There's no effort in the pie crust or toppings whatsoever and a bit of a let down considering this is a pizzeria. Ingredients seem fresh but judging from the lack of presentation, overtopped, greasy and overall terrible appearance the flavor surely would come short. As you may know, when expectations are hindered from just the obvious visual defects of your meal, any effort that should result in satisfaction would simply end in disgust. As a culinary enthusiast, and amateur chef this place is not recommended for pizza. There are others that will exceed where this place failed. There biggest failure and cold hard sign that the pizza is going to be bad was the "Sell Out" advertisement printed directly on the pizza box. This marketing/spam is a clear tactic for profit which would suggest profit from food sales is not well. Remove the advertisement‍(any successful restaurant never needs such thing and owners know this). You're just shooting yourself in the foot. Invest in better prep cooks so that they can make your profit instead of UNIVISIONs spam. Fred, my feedback suggestions if they mean anything to you.... Maybe have your team to take greater care in crust preparation. (Your history of reviews suggest youve done nothing to improve the crust) The more toppings selected, each one should be thinned out as to not hinder the development of the pie. Spread toppings evenly and prep them to equivalent sizes to promote even cooking when the pie is baking. Is your cheese fresh mozzarella? Try using freshly grated Mozzarella and preferably freshly made. Freeze it a bit to help with grating it. It will help cut down on the fat and additives that end up on the pie after it bakes. read more
