Since 1972, King Cole Pizza has been serving up good NY style pizza to the Boyle Heights neighborhood in Los Angeles. My wife and I stopped in to get carryout, and found the expensive pizza to be tasty and the carryout process to be good. We've passed by this place many times on our way to visit our daughter's in-laws, and decided on this Saturday night to bring back pizzas for dinner. Didn't really plan ahead, so figured out what to order once we found parking in their dedicated surface lot (there were plenty of spots, even on the weekend). Didn't find any coupons on-line, so used their built-in specials, ordering two large one-topping pizzas for $44.95 (a large one topping is $23.25 + $2.45 normally)...a third pizza would have been $52.95 (buy two get one free). The pizzas were ready within 15 minutes, and tasted pretty good. It was a classic NY crust (thin in the middle, and a large thick outer crust perfect for dipping), foldable and had a generous amount of toppings (pepperoni one one, and canned mushrooms on the other) with a decent amount of cheese and a sweet simple pizza sauce that I enjoyed. Each pizza could feed 2 - 3 hungry people. They do have a large indoor dining area, and a small outdoor patio facing the front (confirmed that it is dog friendly).

This is the best pizza ever ! Been coming here since I was a kid . My parents would come here on dates all the pizzas are good love the thin crust. Spaghetti and wings are delicious I always go for the frozen strawberry margarita or pitchers of beer

What I Ordered: King Cole Deluxe Pizza ($18.95) Chicken Ranch Pizza ($18.95) Buffalo Wings ($13.95) Sweet & Spicy Rice Wings ($15.95) Potato Wedges ($7.95) Food: The King Cole Deluxe Pizza was a combination of some of my favorite toppings including pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, and green peppers. I was surprised at how much toppings they put onto the pizza! They really load up every topping, so much that I was unable to pick up the pizza by the crust without the extra toppings falling into my plate The Chicken Ranch PIzza was an interesting combination of ranch dressing, chicken, onions, and tomatoes. This was my first time trying pizza with the tomato sauce replaced by ranch dressing but it was better than I expected. I was glad to find that they have the good kind of ranch (we all know there's bad ranch). I honestly preferred the King Cole Deluxe Pizza over this one, but if you LOVE ranch, I don't think it would hurt to try. I actually enjoyed the wings more than the pizzas here! The Buffalo Wings here have a unique flavor of sauce that is different from other buffalo wings at most pizza spots. It has a more prominent flavor of pepper that you wouldn't expect from a buffalo sauce, but the flavor profiles fall together quite nicely. The wings have a good amount of meat in them and comes slathered in the sauce, which I loved. Even with the big wing pieces, each bite of meat came with a strong punch of flavor. It also comes with a cup of ranch that is an absolute NECESSITY. I say once again, the ranch here is the good kind of ranch! The last item I enjoyed was the Rice Wings, and these were most definitely my favorite from the menu. They have the perfect breading to meat ratio with a crispy outside and a juicy inside. They definitely have inspirations from the flavors and style of Korean Fried Chicken with an interesting combination of American flavors. I got the Sweet and Spicy flavor because that's what the owner recommended, but I would love to try typical American wing flavors such as Mango Habanero, Honey Lemon BBQ, and Spicy Parmesan. The reason it is called Rice wings is because the breading is includes rice in them, which adds onto the crispy texture in every bite. Service: All the staff members I interacted with were friendly! Some of the staff members apparently have been working there for more than 40 years, which is amazing. Ambiance: A classic old pizza spot vibe with hints of modern. They have their own parking lot, which is always a nice to have in Los Angeles. They have both indoor and outdoor seating areas. They also have an area in the back for big parties that is available for reservations.

This pizza place looks like it's a local's favorite. Just right off the 60 freeway. I'm not a big fan of pizza and only eat it when the toppings are really delicious, and yes, the toppings here are of my likings. The chicken ranch pizza was one of the best pizza I've had in LA. The fried chicken was also delicious and crispy.

So first time here and was wondering after reading all the negative comments if it would even be worth it. Let me tell you I'm so glad I had my son Big Mateo reading the negativity to me before coming here. Guess what. It's NOT True. If you know pizza and you understand flavors and yumminess you'll understand what this place is. Let's go to some pizza basics. Sauce not overpowering. Bread is delicious. Ambiance is on point. Music is on point. Nice genre of playback. Beside your in raza hood and they are doing something correct. Back to the fool got pizza wings and spaghetti beers and drink. Even with a full house and me telling the wifey start your time clock see how long this takes service was on point. Food came out hot and on time. Girls at the front helping and advising of specials and I appreciate that. Older gentleman's manning the ovens and the staff cleaning as soon as people get up. I enjoyed that part of the night. Oh let me tell you the wings two kind but the original style fire if you know you know. Pollo Vagabundo taste and I don't even like chicken wings. Thank you King Cole's. I'll be back and enjoy again don't listen to these negative haters. They probably out of towners that left. I appreciate the service. The food. And the atmosphere at King Cole's pizza.

The menu was smaller than expected. Our group of four shared the caesar salad, meatballs, pepperoni pizza, and roasted mushroom pizza. The appetizers came out quickly, but the pizzas took a while due to what seemed like a miscommunication. They were waiting for us to finish our starters before bringing them out. The pizzas were easy to share, though a bit salty. The pepperoni pizza also had a few overly burnt slices on the bottom. Service was a little confusing. We ordered at the register, had to flag someone down for water, and weren't quite sure if it was self-service or not. Overall, the food was good and the patio has a great vibe, but it's not a spot I'd go out of my way to revisit.

People have their pizza preferences and styles and New York style is mine. Really takes me back to when almost every spot in NY tasted like this pizza. Not the world's best, but a great slice with great sauce, toppings and the perfect thin crispy crust. This was only my second time trying Prime, but was the second in two days! My first visit in Brea was good and I knew I would love their pizza, but the slices were a little dry from sitting there (was 3:30 pm in a Thursday). This time I ordered the whole pie so I can try it fresh and that was the difference. My GF confirmed it. Now there are two pizzas in LA I love, but the one that I think is a little better and starts with a "A" is in west LA and not easy to get to. Love that Prime has multiple locations and hope to try them all. Service at this location was also great and fun to interact with. Lots of characters at this location, which I love too. Square pie is best I've had in LA, but round pizza is the one. Slices are good in a pinch, but whole pies make the difference. Parking is the only con here. I got lucky with street parking on a Sat afternoon after circling around the block once, but can imagine it could be worse. There are parking lots, but who wants to pay $10 minimum to pick up a pizza.

I'd suggest looking for street parking along 3rd St. if you can. There's also a parking structure nearby. The first time we came, we ordered a whole pie, half supreme and half BBQ chicken. It also came with ranch that tasted freshly made. The supreme was great. You could taste a little bit of spice from the sausage, and all the other toppings worked really well together. I also really liked the crust. It had a nice crunch to it without being too hard. Came back for a second time and got another whole pie, this time half supreme and half white. The white pizza was good. It had fresh mozzarella, garlic, and seasoning on top, and the crust was just as good as I remembered. I think adding something like mushrooms would make it even better. It is pretty cheesy though, so I could see more than one slice being a little too much for some people. The supreme was just as good as the first time. I'd definitely keep coming back. I think next time I'm going to try one of their square pizzas.

The pizza here is so killer, I was nodding my head(Yes!)as I was eating it. I rarely do this. The crust was so thin, the cheese had great flavor, and the cupped pepperoni added a salty richness. Every bite was chewy and a flavor blast. It makes you wanting more and more.

The regular cheese pie I got, which I assume has the same sauce on it, did not taste salty or odd like the sicilian. Their Monday deal of a XL cheese pie for $15 is a great deal. Now the few not so good things this second time. There is no parking. They have a small alleyway with maybe 6-8 parking spots on the side of the pizzeria. Considering the place was pretty empty when I came midday but the lot was full, I have to assume staff take the spots. No street parking. You're supposed to be able to pull out of the alleyway by going forward and turning into another alleyway that crosses the parking alleyway. Unfortunately, there was a motorcycle someone was working on or just left there so you could not get past the bike and the car parked in the last spot. I had to back out onto the busy main street, which was dangerous. Also annoying is that the menu has zero prices, and it's not like the girl at the counter knows the prices. She had to punch in whatever I asked the price to on her tab in order to give me a price. When I asked how much for toppings added, she couldn't give me a concrete answer. Even more frustrating is that the prices on your bill will not match what you were quoted. I think what they quote is the price plus tax, and then the bill has the real prices and all the tax bundled together at the bottom, so it's near impossible to figure out the cost of each item. Who doesn't have a menu with prices?! I do not like this!
