I called to make a to go order and was told that they were waiting for their carnitas. I loved the honesty and that they reached out with an ETA so I wouldn't waist my lunch time. When I arrived my order was ready and all the staff were extremely nice. Good food and great customer service is what everyone loves! Everything that I ordered was super delicious and so fresh! It's a family-owned and operated spot with really friendly service. They do have indoor seating, but it's pretty small and intimate, so depending on when you go there might be a bit of a wait for a table and your order. My dad ordered the Garden Feta sandwich with chips, my brother went with the recommended roast beef sandwich and a side of potato salad (which was made fresh that day), and I ordered the tuna salad on a croissant instead of sourdough. The vegetables on both my dad's sandwich and mine were fresh and crisp, which was nice. My brother really enjoyed his roast beef sandwich and the potato salad. I decided to try the Garden Deli on my lunch break with a coworker today after having my eyes on it on Yelp for a couple of weeks. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. My coworker ordered the Garden Feta Sandwich and I got the Roast Beef Sandwich and we both got the pasta salad as our side. We decided to dine in and the owner was very attentive and helpful. My coworker and I ended up splitting our sandwiches so we could each try 1/2 and 1/2 and try more than one sandwich to see what we liked. Both sandwiches had great flavor. My coworker loved the Garden Feta and said she'd go back to have it again. I really enjoyed it as well but I'm more of a meat girl. I think I enjoyed the Roast Beef more. The hubs and I took a drive. It was getting kind of late for lunch though so I was hungry and quickly getting to hangry. I looked at Google maps and saw The Garden Deli was close. Ideally I might have gotten a salad but at that point I was willig to settle. As we got closer, I wasn't expecting much but figured we'd at least be supporting a small business while I crushed the hanger. This isn't like the sandwich shops where you point to what you want. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The sourdough- that I noticed is supplied by Homeboy bakery- on my sandwich was buttered and grilled. That made it crispy and extra tasty. We were brought a jar of chili crisp, so I added a little to my potato salad. It was, unsurprisingly, quite spicy but also full of flavor (I detected some sundried tomato before my taste buds were on fire from the chilis.) We don't live close but I will absolutely make a trip to El Monte specifically to visit The Garden Deli again! read more
