I have given this place a few tries because I believe in giving a business the benefit of the doubt (new employees, bad day, under staffed etc.). I have been disappointed time and time again. The take out service is horrible, they can never get your order right. Triple check your order if you get take out & expect to wait because you probably will have to get at least one corrected order. This place is amazing! Firstly, the amount of food they put out will blow your mind. They have in-house and take-out, but they never miss a beat. Secondly, the staff is beyond. They anticipate your needs without hovering. Everyone shows passion! Kudos to Kayla Kooper, who was not only our extraordinary waitress, but also does the hiring! This was my first time at the rip Van Winkle brewery. Looks like they just remodeled the interior. Stop by with my daughter and grandson for lunch the other day. The food was very good and the service was very good also the waitress came out just the right time to ask us how our meals were. I'm definitely looking forward to going back and trying some of their dinner entrees. From what I had for lunch I would highly recommend this place. Came here for dinner, since this was the nearest food joint from our cabin site. The place was fairly empty on a sunday evening. The place seems like a mom-pop restaurant with the way the decor is. The food is mainly Italian pizza, pasta, steak, chicken. We ordered garlic knots with mariana sauce and Small veggie pizza.. The portion is quite large for (2) people. Solid decision on our part to take a quick pitstop from our roadtrip for some pizza and a brew. Quiet crowd on a late Sunday afternoon, but the pizza hit the spot - with a garlic knot type crust that was ultimately some extra good bread at the end of a larger slice of pie. The bartender provided some good chit-chat while we sipped on one of the handful of in-house beers that they brew facility directly next door. After reading the reviews of this place, I was very excited to dine here, but my expectation she should have been lower. I was with a party when I decided to have 2 slices of pizza. I walked up to the register around 6:10, and ordered two slices, one pepperoni and one plain. I paid an average price for the two and expected to wait for about five to ten minutes. I then proceeded to wait 30-40 minutes, while people ordering large pies walked out in 15 minutes! I was very disappointed and I do not plan on coming back unless their service is better. wow... so disappointed... we had been here in November 20 .. LOVED their wings ~ and a couple brews. So when we returned to the area 4/29/21 ... we DELIBERATELY scheduled a trip for dinner. We ordered beers & dinners ... shortly afterwards realized the folks next to us had pitchers going. So after two beers ( $6 each ) I asked about pitchers, as there had been no mention of the cost of them on any of the 3 three menus given to us. ANSWER : oh! Thursday's are half price at $8 each~ about 4-5 beers per pitcher ! OK ~ I'm thinking .... I then asked if we could be prorated since we weren't told about the special. The waitress ( very nice ) said she would check with the manager. The manager came over to us and said "no" .. there was nothing they could do " they were busy " but Thursday nights was a known thing that they had half price pitchers for years. We explained how we were not local but been here before .... even wearing their T-SHIRTS !!! Bottom line was.. too bad so sad ... he wouldn't do anything about it. Soooo ...we left.... took our food. Worst Service I've ever had. The food was stellar but the service was the slowest I've ever witnessed. Thank god for the good food or else I would have been more miserable than I already was. At the end of the meal- only then did the waitress let us know that she put us all on one bill (which I've never experienced before- anywhere) and wouldn't split it up for us. When I tried to ask her why and if she could possibly cancel the order and ring it up properly she continually walked away several times and had an awful attitude, using a tone and raising her voice at me. I literally walked out because of how awful of a waitress she was. My boyfriend stayed to get the bill, and after he got back to the motel he let me know she ended up splitting up the bill anyway!!!!! Why she couldn't do that from the start, without arguing with a customer, is BEYOND me. Drove 8 hours from Canada and just wanted a nice meal and instead got harassed by the server. Never coming here again and definitely don't recommend even though the food is good- which is a huge disappointment and such a slap in the face. Hilarious. read more

this was just an "okay" experience for us. we were visiting the area and decided to give the brewery a shot. we were seated right away and ordered drinks and food shortly after. we had to wait for about 10 min for our drinks to arrive. the beer sampler came with good beer selection, however. all samples were not at very optimal temperature (warm). we had to wait for our food for about 40-45 min. everybody around us was eating (even the tables that came after). my fish sandwich was good. my husband liked his chicken panini too. both of us substituted the fries for caesar salad that lacked croutons (each portion included one soggy crouton). we had to wait another 15 min to pay since the waiter was nowhere to be found. it was a disappointment across the board. read more

Went here for nieces collage graduation dinner with approx. 20 people and children at 5:00 PM . Bartenders were serving 3 highly intoxicated men who where using obscene language. 1 of the men came over to our table and sat down and was harassing us. We've been coming to this place for decades when it was still called "Angela's", but ever since the old man stopped running the show, all hell has broken loose there. Their pizza was their prime attraction, but it has now morphed into just plain old, rubbery, run-of-the-mill, non-NYC-tasting pizza that you can find anywhere up here. They've done away with their popular all-you-can-eat pasta night, too. Seriously...pasta? Was that going to break the bank or something? Their parmigian sandwiches are a real joke now, too. They have shrunk so drastically in size that you might mistake them for an appetizer: A small, rubbery roll, hardly any meat, barely a drop of sauce, and priced ridiculously high. What one of the young, pie-in-the-sky people in charge have optimistically added was a "brewery", if it can be called that. Its merely a small assortment of off-label beers offered while dining. My entire family, as well as our friends had originally loved the food and value we've gotten at Angela's over the years, but now none of us will even go here anymore. Lately this place only gets its business at dinnertime in the summer and during the weekends when unsuspecting tourists from the City drive past this place and fall for the hype. We were traveling through and felt like a pizza. We stopped and ordered a large cheese pizza to go ($11.78). While it was cooking we looked around. The salad at looked very good and the lunch special of unlimited salad bar plus 2 slices of pizza or a 1/4 lb hamburger seemed like a food deal. The restaurant looked clean and the menu attractive. Our pizza came out in short order, and we took it with us. Later that evening we dug in. The thin crust was just right and the sauce delicious with just the right amount of cheese. Stopped here for some food and drinks with few friends after hiking by kaaterskill falls( great place for hiking). The bar tender was this lady who was very rude, and it appeared that she didn't care what her customers might think of her absolutely awful behavior. Food was okay, got some calamari, chicken wings etc. and it was average. Nothing to really die for. The service is terrible, so terrible that this other customer even looked at us and was shocked that the bar tender was acting so rude to us. We still tipped pretty good and left afterwards. The dining room was half empty on a Tuesday night and we had to wait over an hour and fifteen minutes after ordering one large calzone. Sadly, when it finally arrived it was so bad: the peppers and onions inside were raw, and the ricotta cheese it was also stuffed with was cold. Such a sad experience. Only thing is watch what you order as in what is included with the meal. My meal had soup or salad & pickle. First there was a question on just what salad would be served. I pointed out on the menu it states soup or salad and a pickle. The waitress said no pickle. I said it states a pickle. She said she never sees the meal come out with a pickle but she will get me a pickle. My meal came out with no pickle. Yes, just a pickle but it is the point. We have a new favorite restaurant in the Catskill/Athens/Coxsackie area due to chef Adam Marks' culinary skills. First night we ate there I had the NY Strip special - cooked to (medium rare) perfection. My wife had the seafood (shrimp and scallops) pasta special, which she loved. The salad dressing (ranch) was delicious and tasted freshly made. Even the hummus served (complementary) with the bread was delicious. Service was attentive, even though they were very busy. Second night was with a larger party, including four kids. We are used to getting at least one wrong entree served with such a large party, but they bucked the trend and got everything perfect (lots of changes, including one person who needed to have whole-wheat pasta, which they had). Fried artichoke special was amazing, as was my "sacchittini" (stuffed pasta sacks) special. The Thai Chili wings were amazing (my kids said they were the best wings they ever had). Side of broccoli rabe with sausage was great, too. Again, service was very attentive. Can only say that the pizza LOOKED delicious (none of us ordered it). Honestly cannot complain about any aspect of the meal - food, service or price. read more
