I've been here 4 times since they opened and it's consistently super good!! I love the Caesar salad and the ambiance is pretty cozy and chill. I also love the chicken picatta. You do need to get here early, or expect a bit of a wait since they don't do reservations but it's not too hard to get in if you show up later. Our table ordered 3 dishes, gnocchi with marinara, lasagna, and a Caesar salad. None of these were up to par. The gnocchi was similar to something you'd get from a can. The lasagna was floating in a soupy tomato sauce. Mostly bland. Had to allow 25 minutes for this dish to be prepared. I think so it would thaw. The Caesar salad was ok. Asked for a protein besides anchovies added. Agreed with server to add chicken. Server came back later and mentioned that kitchen wouldn't allow it. Had a reasonably priced and tasty bottle of wine. So it's a new place and they have some work to do in the kitchen. We waited over 45 minutes for pasta dishes. Kaylee our bartender was amazing and we sat at the bar top. Salad came out quick. But my disappointment was the amount of money you spend on pasta and the dishes weren't full. I left still feeling hungry and we went somewhere else. The wine glasses are small. My friend liked his but it was unmemorable. My Alfredo was forgettable. Salads were good. A little heavy on the Caesar dressing. We loved the old location downtown. the new location is very nice, but that's about it in terms of goodness. There were 2 tables, and 3 servers available. we got awful service during the lunch session. It took a long time to be checked in on, orders were missed and as a result one person in our party got their food 15 min later than everyone else. Last Saturday, after being quoted a 45 min wait at another establishment, we wandered down the street to see what else was going on. We stumbled upon a blackboard sidewalk sign that said "Machiavelli Now Open for Brunch".  Neither of us had been here before. We looked at the menu and went in. Nice, clean, quiet, sat immediately and offered coffee. Looking at the menu, it wasn't what I was expecting, but was pleasantly surprised. I had the Sausage and Mushroom Strata. Amazing. My friend had the Orange Ricotta Pancakes and liked them so much she asked for the recipe. She was refused (obviously lol)I don't know if I would call it brunch per se. Don't expect hash browns and ketchup. But you might be pleasantly surprised by your options. We will definitely be back! read more

I've been a huge fan of the Capital Hill location for 30 years and was so excited to try the new location in my neighborhood . It did not disappoint, the space airy and fresh and yet cozy and private with the ribbed glass between some tables. The service was excellent, the food came out perfectly timed. My salad was crisp and fresh served on a nice chilled plate. My pasta carbonara was packed with delicious bits of meat and wonderfully flavored cream sauce. The cheese cake was divine. The bar is a great plus in case you wait for a table. The atmosphere was fun but not crazy it was a lovely setting for an excellent meal. We will be back..... over and over again read more

Extremely slow service at lunchtime, the $18.00 "large" Antipasto salad was a bowl of lettuce, a few garbanzos and three beets with a little mozzarella and salami - no peppers, no olives. NOT an antipasto salad. My husband's sausage sandwich was mostly bread. We'll never go there again. read more

We went to Restaurant Machiavelli on Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. The restaurant was attractive with lots of new wood and attractive furniture. It was nearly empty. We were quickly welcomed and offered a two top table in the front window. We got a carafe of water and six small slices of bread with a very vinegary dipping sauce--no butter. The server quickly asked if we were ready to order and we asked for time to look at the menu. We ordered green salads, one with white anchovies (add $1.50 for 4 anchovies) and one with Gorgonzola (add $1 for a small amount). For entrees we ordered veal saltimbocca and veal parmigiana which included spaghetti. The salads were fine and a beet slice and a couple of garbanzo beans. Our entrees came quickly before we finished our salads. We felt rushed but continued eating. The meat entrees were on plates floating in sauce and the spaghettis were on small plates which filled our table with the salad plates. We were offered ground pepper and grated cheese for our various dishes. Before we finished eating we were asked about dessert. There were only two not very interesting options so we asked for our check and paid. This was not the kind of meal experience we wanted and we will not return. I am surprised that many people have been excited to have Machiavelli in Edmond's. read more

Absolutely the worst restaurant meal I have ever had. I ordered the Machiavelli Hash that came with somebodies hair in it. It was replaced but the replacement was not the same as the first order. The first order did not have grated cheese on it but the second one did. I asked the waiter about it but he had no explanation. The second one was inedible, I have never had a salter dish in my life. I took a couple of bites and that was it, I could not eat any more. The waiter apologized but said he could not adjust the bill. We were the only table so it was not a matter of an overwhelmed kitchen. I am not a foodie and have never sent food back in my life. i.e. I am not a fussy eater. It was just a horribly prepared dish. The waiter was nice enough but I left with an empty wallet, an empty stomach and literally a bad taste in my mouth. read more

We had such a great evening at the new Machiavelli! We've been going to the Capitol Hill location for years and we're so excited they came north...where can you get delicious food so affordably?? There was a wait so we started at the bar, drinks were superb- "best sidecar ever" and awesome scratch margarita, and super efficient friendly service despite it being packed. We got the antipasto platter and salads, and they were great and came out right away. We got Chianti and Sangiovese and loved the wine came in the adorable glasses like in Italy! Again for $9 a glass, hard to beat. The gnocchi, Alfredo and bolognese were just as good as always and the veal was even better than we all remembered too!! The service was also superb- very attentive, professional but also warm and genuine hospitality from Katie the bartender and Emily our server. We're already planning our next visit! read more

Three of us went to dinner at the Edmonds location @4:10 on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered two entrees and a pizza and they all came out separately. The cold pizza followed the first entree by 8 minutes, and the final entree didn't arrive to the table until 5:20pm! The server offered to comp one glass of wine. When I politely suggested the meal should be comped, she replied the manager said one or the other. What unbelievably poor customer service. We planned on dining together; not cafeteria style one at a time. With all the experience this owner has as a restaurateur, this kind of situation should NEVER happen. Service was horrible. Was told wait time was going to be 20 mins, ended up waiting 50 mins for a table. My wife asked to order a kids plate for my son while waiting (she was rudely told no, that was not possible). After we finally sat down, our waitress rudely places our menus down and begins to walk away (mind you this is the same woman that told us we couldn't order our child's food while waiting) I kindly tell her I would like to order my son's food. Order the food (Cheese tortellini's - meat sauce) 30 mins goes by his food comes out, lo and behold we receive spaghetti and meat balls. We then tell the waitress we received the wrong meal and we began feeding our son because he was starving. (Also told waitress we hope it wasn't an issue that he started to eat it). Rest of our food finally comes out and not once did she mention if we still wanted the tortellini's - nor did she once come by and ask us how our meals were and whether we needed anything else. She had the nerve to come back and tell me that my Wife had mentioned my son started to eat the food so she made the assumption that it was fine that she brought the wrong food out to us. However, the table next to us had a similar issue and the same waitress that gave us a hard time, comped ALL of their wine, beer and kids meal that she messed up on. (We didn't order any drinks or alcohol) I don't remember the waitress' name to be exact, but she had glasses on and mullet hair style. Just know this was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at ANY restaurant. We were in town visiting and figured we would give this place a try - to be honest, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone if they were in Edmonds, WA. When I heard Machiavelli was opening in Edmonds, I couldn't believe it! It's one of my favorite typical Italian restaurants. After reading the reviews, I was so skeptical and thought, "Oh no, did something change?" Lol, the only thing that changed was the location and people reviewing. Reviewers complained about the small wine glasses, that it was too loud, it wasn't like the previous restaurant and that it was not fine dining. If I may, I think the pretentiousness of these reviewers got in the way. For as always, my food was delicious (spaghetti and meatballs with extra meat sauce). We ordered a bottle of wine with tiny glasses yet the quantity of the bottle was still the same (same glassware as capital hill location). Ambiance at Machiavelli has never been a quiet fine dining experience. Rather, a more typical authentic Italian style restaurant. Kinda loud, people laughing, drinking having fun. Kitchen hard at work and the sound of servers putting in orders. This is the vibe! Not a white tablecloth candlelight dinner. Here's how to enjoy: 1. No reservations, so get there a little early and have a drink at the bar while you wait a little (enjoy your company and put your phone away). 2. Ask your server how backed up the kitchen is (if long wait times then order a couple of apps at the same time you order your food and order it soon) 3. This is an experience, so take your time and live the moment (no rush). 4. Get the spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce and enjoy! *Side note- This isn't the olive garden, so bread is not free, so don't be cheap. Overall, I had a great experience. Love the space. It's big, open and airy. The bar is beautiful. Ambiance is pretty casual and very comfortable. The hostess greeted us as soon as we walked in and had an open table as we were there kind of early. Within a minute or two, a young man brought a carafe of water, two water glasses, some delicious bread and a balsamic dipping sauce. The server arrived very shortly after and offered us drinks. We ordered some of the Italian wine from their menu. We didn't order appetizers but the table next to us ordered the charcuterie plate - it was really large and looked very good. For dinner we ordered the chicken parm and the chicken Milanese. I asked for a side of pasta with meat sauce and my friend a pasta with marinara. They offered fresh ground pepper and Parmesan for the top. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The chicken Milanese was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly and the spaghetti with meat sauce was really good - with a fair amount of garlic in it. I'd order both again easily. We ordered cheesecake for dessert. Easily one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. I'd recommend coming here in a heartbeat. read more

The food is most important, and it was Not good. 4 people ordering veal, lasagna, pizza, and shrimp pasta. Portion sizes were regrettable/small. The veal was ordered with a side of spaghetti, which was cold and hard. All entrees were not cold, but far from hot. The veal was tough. The pizza was meh. The shrimp pasta was less than meh. The lasagna was small and since it takes 25 minutes, it ightbethe reason everything else was almost cold - but a decent restaurant charging these prices should know how to time entrees for the same table. The wine was pretty cheap and marked up suite a bit. The service was just okay and fairly rushed. Will NOT go again. read more

Came with a complimentary tiny plate of 6 quarter-inch baguette slices with some delicious dipping oil which we immediately consumed. Then came the amazing $14.00 tuna tartare. Oh, you want bread with that? $6 for another 6 slices. That said, it was delicious. Then came the salads. I had the $7 Caesar which was decent, but again a bit small with very little parmesan. My friend had the dinner salad with gorgonzola for $8. Again, a bit small but pretty good. For dinner, I had Eggplant Parmesan - $20.95. It was a few slices of plain eggplant absolutely swimming in sauce and cheese. It BEGGED for a bit of pasta on the side to soak up all that sauce. But again, it was delicious and I at up all the eggplant regrettably leaving a huge pool of sauce on the plate. My friend had the lasagna ($20.95) which she raved about. It was also heavy handed on the sauce but much less so than my eggplant. Service was great! Although very busy, he was attentive, friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. So after a couple of beers and a cocktail, the check was $156 for the two of us with tax and gratuity. read more
