I love this spot! I happened to stop by during the Formula Drift competition and it was so nice to see a menu without ridiculous pricing. In the early afternoon this was a very casual, laid back bar with one bartender holding it down. It wasn't crowded or loud, just a peaceful break in between the day to sip on a refreshing cocktail. We ordered the ristini and the moscow mule, both were 10/10 and under $20 each. Their happy hour prices are even better, but once it hit 4 p.m. this place got PACKED and the energy was turned UP. We came in for happy hour on a Sunday around 5, not too busy when we got in. Really good deal for their short rib tacos on HH, normally $15 for 3 but HH deal was $9 for 3. They also had a 50% tacos for taco Tuesday deal. We also got the happy hour lemon pepper wings for $9 and truffle fries for $9. I saw reviews for "wet lemon pepper wings" that people raved about, but when I asked the waitress she said they change their menu sometimes and only had the dry lemon pepper wings available. The wings were fresh and had a good lemon pepper flavor, went well with the ranch too. Truffle fries had a hint of truffle flavor - wish it was stronger. The fried themselves had a good crunchy outside with fluffy interior, one of my favorite types of fries! The short rib tacos had tender shortrib with a yummy green salsa with a slight spice to it. Shortrib was tender but wish it had a little more flavor. We chose patio seating but it turned out to be really windy and cold as the sun set, so consider sitting indoors if it's windy. When I remember, I try to choose restaurants within the AAdvantage dining program for American Airlines to earn bonus miles and upon searching on Saturday morning, I came across this gem in DTLB. I am a sucker for happy hour and thought I'd give this place a try as they had plenty of food options on the menu & the prices are very reasonable. My friends and I started off with our drink orders and I got the house cab for 7 bucks HH (very good btw). I started off with the "bougie brussels" (9 bucks HH) and those were so savory and delish! They had just the right amount of balsamic vinegar and saltiness with the bacon crumbles and cooked to perfection! I also ordered their flatbread with pepperoni and pepperoncini's (all flat breads are 12 bucks during HH) and it was very tasty. Lastly, I ordered the vegan tacos (street style) for 9 bucks HH and those were tasty as well. As for the service, it was very slow as there was only one server on staff (HH is 4-6pm daily). She apologized as she informed us that there was only one cook on staff as well. The other downside is the location as it can be difficult to find if you blink an eye. Located on the 2nd floor of The Crest Apartment bldg., the front entrance was locked and there is a tiny sign in the covered parking lot with an arrow but you still have to kinda guess where to go, which is on the opposite side of the entrance in the parking structure (essentially the back door) which made no sense to me. Lastly, the patio is very charming and beautiful especially on a warm day! I loved the open airiness of it and there are a few tables inside but we dined outside. Will definitely be back! read more

Overall a great first time experience. I appreciate the free parking that is located downstairs, although was difficult to navigate how to exit the structure. Staff was friendly. Music selection was great. It was more of a casual vibe. We sat outside by the rainbow bridge and enjoyed the table top with fire pit. We just stopped by for drinks and appetizer. The flatbread pizza was surprisgly delicious! It's usually a hit or miss in many places. Great flavor, portion size, fresh greens, and the perfect crisp with every bite. It's worth a visit. Risu is a solid option if you're in the area. It's located on the bridge across from the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, which made it an easy stop while my bestie was at Anime Con and I was squeezing in a quick lunch with her before my flight home. The spot itself is really cute, and the servers were friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty once it arrived, but service was noticeably slow for a short lunch stop. That said, sitting outside in the shade made it more enjoyable, and it was genuinely fun watching the cosplay parade as people made their way to the convention center. For happy hour, this is a great spot to check out especially if you're attending an event at the convention. The prices are great, food tastes delicious, and the drinks are pretty good too. The service can get slow depending on what time you go but they're all friendly. I highly recommend the short rib tacos (get two orders). The short rib is so tender and flavorful on top of blue corn tortillas. They ran out of the short ribs tacos on Friday night so I opted for the fried shrimp tacos and they were really good, though the short ribs ones were even better. While I was unfortunately allergic to something in the Ris-tini it was so yummy (my friend finished it for me and she agreed it was a delicious cocktail). The lemon pepper wings are a wet rub rather than dry but the flavor was still good. I prefer the dry rub version of iron pepper though. They were out of the espresso liqueur for the espresso martinis but they offered a decent substitute. I love the outdoor seating option while the weather's amazing. It's a good spot to people watch or just enjoy the outdoor breeze. Definitely coming here again the next time I'm in Long Beach. read more

There is a lot of potential here but, they are definitely starting with one hand tied behind their back. The location is difficult. This part of the city is multi level. So, if you are on the lowest street East Seaside Way, you need to take an elevator to the restaurant and the door to the elevator is locked! Not a good start. The restaurant is built inside a space that is clearly made for retail sales, not a restaurant. So it is mostly set up on an open patio which is dependent upon the weather at night, or the very narrow strip of tables that are inside an airport garage. There are no soft materials used to dampen the noise. So, between the scuffed walls painted battleship grey and the hard poured cement floor, the lack of ceiling baffles, the sound bounces around this place like a ping pong ball. And since this restaurant is modifying a space it wasn't designed for, the host is non existent. Which ordinarily isn't a problem if your staff pays attention to new customers walking up and they are greeted immediately. That isn't happening right now. The staff is ok. They seem to be understaffed so the attention of the service is thin to say the best. The kitchen takes longer than usual to make the food. Now, in regard to the food itself. The Brussels Sprouts were nicely done. Good flavor, nice color on the sprouts. They are tossed with bacon and balsamic vinegar. I serious recommend you place a little of a thickener at the very end to allow the vinegar to coat the sprouts better. Be careful about placing the bacon in too quickly as it renders fast and becomes chewy. The short rib flat bread needs some work. Aside from taking too long to come out of the kitchen, the entire dish falls flat because it is under seasoned and salted. It would seem as if you are only using mozzarella with nothing else blended in. You need to add some additional cheeses to bring out the flavor. And let's talk about your use of micro greens. There are so many other things in the world to use besides the lazy industry micro green crutch! It doesn't make sense. Honestly, get rid of the hot peppers and substitute in some fresh arugula. Toss your short ribs in a better sauce. They are dry and flavorless. And it wouldn't be a crime to sautée the ribs and add them after the pizza comes out to keep them moist and tender. The flatbread itself was very nice with a good balance of crisp and yeast. I did ask the bartender for a scotch from a little green bottle with lots of dust. She didn't understand what I was saying to her right away, but, she did a wonderful job of finding me a nice reserve with a smooth finish and a deep smoky flair. Have I mentioned how much I adore those old treats long forgotten... hidden on the top shelf and never touched. How wonderful these forgotten libations dance! As I mentioned, they do certainly seem understaffed. I've finished my meal and have been sitting here for a while. No one to clear my plates. No one to ask if I would like another drink. No one to ask if it's like a dessert. If you take care of your guests, they will take care of you. Not clearing a table with nothing in front of me and the empty plate placed to the side of the table for the staff to pick up while walking by... and they don't pick it up. Full hands out, full hands in. That's basic server 101. I really wanted to get the Brownie a la mode, but, if I'm sitting here and no one asks if I need something else... this isn't a British pub where you order from the bartender. Where is the service? And a brownie with blueberry... no hot fudge?!? What are you even doing here?!? Ok... 10 more minutes and I'm asking for the check. A server did manage to ask if I wanted anything else nearly an hour after I was sat and a good 20 minutes since the test of the players were cleared. The brownie is good. Although, the menu said it came with blueberry and they switched out chocolate. It also took 12 minutes to hit the table. The server mentioned that consistency is an issue at this place. The kitchen should have recipe cards and pictures of every plate presentation. This isn't a jazz fusion. People demand consistency. There is a lot of work that needs to be done here. Pay attention to the little things and the big things won't go wrong. And creating an experience that was slow and under delivered is definitely a big problem! It would be interesting to come back and see if they improve, but, they are in a deeply rich restaurant area. They need to be much more proactive in delivering each and every time to retain the traffic they get in a difficult location. read more

I'm a DTLB local who was looking for an off the normal trail, watering spot. The well drinks are okay, mid priced but not sky high, my advice is to go neat to very light ice. The salads are good try the sprout shrimp salad crisp chopped romaine, season yet spice grilled shrimp, chopped cherry tomatoes dressed with southern Cajun deliciousness. Try it naked if there are any shell fish allergies. The other fantastic alternative is a spinach pecan salad which is a local favorite in told. Service comes with a smile and the traffic on Seaside Way can be interesting with many variations of world conferences held at the Long Beach, Convention Center ambiance ! read more

Picked this spot for our company lunch event. I made a reservation on yelp and arrived on time. We were the only table when we got there. Waitress shared that she wasnt aware there is a reservation. We ordered 8 entries + a cheesecake. Sliders, 3 wraps and 2 flatbreads. It took the kitchen 50 mins to deliver our food. you heard me right. 50 mins. I just want to add that the waitress did her best to try to compensate for this. This is on the management. To response to the owner: We check out at 1:03 because we switch our food to go and ate back at our office. We received our wraps at 12:50. The delay wasn't cause by the cheesecake. Oh Risü... such a hidden gem! With Happy Hour everyday and ALL DAY Monday, it's truly hard to find a better place for a casual, yet elevated, sporadic night out! I enjoy their truffle fries, short rib pizza (a must try) and the poke tostadas (essentially tuna ceviche). The waiters and bartenders are very personable, down to earth and playful. There may be limited staff at times, though they try their best to be as attentive as possible. Super recommend to anyone downtown looking for a regular spot to call your own! This place isn't bad, it's really close to the convention center. When they are packed, they show it with lack of service elsewhere. Their lack of inventory is also quite noticeable. Ran out of steak one day and issues with espresso the next day. But other than that, their happy hour is quite nice and very affordable! The food is all very good! We were greeted immediately and given menus. Then the server didn't come back for a while. He offered a free shot to make up for it. I started to feel bad for the owner when they were planning the next visit to drink more. Another table sat outside and just left when no one greeted them for at least 10 minutes.
