I had the tomato bisque soup and a side salad, my husband had the salmon bowl. He liked his dish,my soup however had a strong garlic powder aftertaste. The side salad was good though! The gingerbread cheese cake was amazing. Great service !We loved the view

Wanted a nice city view overseeing Lakewood. Tried this rooftop place for drinks and appetizers. Even though it was a weekend, this place still honored their happy hour specials from 3pm to 6pm. Kudos to this establishment for doing so. Ordered Sangria and Chardonnay wine along some figs. The quality of wine and food did not disappoint. Our server Bernice was awesome! She kept attending to us providing the best possible service she can perform. Very Kind and professional. If you are in the area to drink and eat at a Rooftop location in the city of Lakewood CA, this is the perfect place to chill and talk. Not loud at all. Good for Great conversations. Indulge and splurge while enjoying a Sunset. Food and Service is affordable. Parking can get full, may need lady luck on your side for a space to open.

Miguel has got to be the funniest and friendliest guy in the building! We would go back just to have great conversation and laughs with my guy lol Tempura shrimp was a table fav. The bacon cheeseburger featured butter lettuce, wow.. not just any ole iceberg lettuce. Sweet chili wings got devoured real quick. It's great to see Vue all remodeled and fancied up. Grab a table by the windows and just chill fam

This restaurant is located on the top floor of the Holiday Inn Long Beach well they call it the Penthouse. The first time we came here was on a Monday evening around 10ish. So the kitchen would be closing soon. But the b arc would still be serving alcohol. The bartender working this Monday evening was friendly and kind. She had a good conversation with us. We didn't get to order food because we were to late. But that's okay. The next time we came here was a week later as we got off of the cruise ship and we were looking for dinner that evening. We went earlier this time so we could actually try something. The waitress we had was okay. She seemed like we were bothering her. It was kind of busy. We wanted a different table because it was right under the A.C. vent. So we asked if we could please move. She didn't care to much for that. But we ordered food and drinks. Food cane our promptly and it was okay. If you're staying here at the Holiday Inn come here try them out.

This is my 100th view! I chose the Vue for my 100th! The food here is hit or miss, when it is a miss they will fix it for you, same with the drinks. The bartenders and servers are great here. The manager here is out of this world. She's so cool and pretty awesome! She will come order things to make sure her guest are getting what they should be getting. I think that really makes a great manager! Depending on the time you come, this place can be loud or quiet really depends on what you want. Earlier in the day it's more quiet and bright. Later it gets louder and dark but it is a lot of fun. And it can get crowded but still all good. And these guys make a good lemon drop! YUM!!!

This is located on the top floor of the Holiday Inn. I am not normally inclined to try hotel restaurants, but, I heard of the view and the cocktails and well, I wanted to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised! The view is lovely!! There are seats at the bar, high tops, and two and four tops. The view to the west takes in the sunset and the view to the north you can watch the planes. So there is alwys something to see. They also have a fair amount of TVs and some 90s music on. So for ambiance, it's trying to find its way a bit. Sports Bar/fine dining/speak easy. The menu changes seasonally. So keep that in mind. I was super eager to try the French Onion Soup, but behold, a new season. Summer begets the tomato.. I am trying to be more "plant based" in my diet, or at least "less processed". And this definitely for the bill for that. The menu features food that is more local, more fresh and less processed. Which was exactly what I was looking for. For my meal, I was surprisingly ot starving, so I just got some Brussels sprouts. They were prepared with a balsamic reduction, some bacon and a wee bit of cheese on top. They were so good!!! I'd highly recommend them! I was also looking for a lovely cocktail. I saw the images on IG and the like. And in honesty, it was Monday.... So, an Old Fashioned it was. It was prepared perfectly and it was pretty!! I also felt it had a nice pour. For my two items it ran about $30.00. I did dine with my service dog, LongYellowDog. Which didn't bring any issues with the staff. The wait staff (Shannon) was super friendly and honest about the menu and what she thought I'd like, based on my diet, I really appreciated that. She also made sure everything was perfect for me. The hostess was quick and the barkeep was doing a fabulous job too! I'm taking off one star for the lack of identity. Be a sports bar, be a speak easy or be fine dinning or even two of the three. Embrace that you cannot be all things to all people.

We had family visiting and were staying at the Long Beach Holiday Inn, so we decided to dine at the restaurant on the top floor, which offers great city views. It was definitely crowded on a Wednesday evening, but we were seated promptly. Our group of 20 appreciated the separate checks, and it's worth noting that the restaurant is cashless, accepting only credit cards. The bar area had TVs, which was a nice touch for those interested in catching up on sports or news. I ordered the burger wrapped in lettuce with onion rings, and both were good--the onion rings were nice and crispy. My cousin had the Sarasota Shrimp Scampi, while other family members enjoyed dishes like Spaghetti Primavera, Linguine Alla Scampi, Chicken Parmigiana, and Chicken Piccata. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was good, and the combination of city views (forgot to take a picture) and delicious food made for a pleasant experience. I will definitely return.

Salmon and pesto mushroom risotto, side of Brussels sprouts. I think my plate sat under a heat lamp a bit too long and wilted my hibiscus.

It's always iffy when visiting a hotel restaurant, so I was pleased with my experience at VUE. First, the view is fabulous! No matter where you sit, this circular top-floor location is beautiful. The service was friendly. The food was decent. But let's start with the cocktails. I love gin. And Empress is one of my favs, so when I saw a gin cocktail as one of the specials, including grapefruit juice with a salty rim like a spin off a Salty Dog, I bit. But there wasn't much bite to the bark. The beauty of adding citrus to Empress is the color change, but this drink, served in a too-small chimney glass, didn't deliver. Not only on the visual, but the taste. Too much salt on the rim wiped any other flavor out. The good news is, I used some of that salt on my crispy Brussels sprouts appetizer, which made them even better. I ordered the Brussels sprouts as a side--so no bacon or parm as served with the appetizer version, but that's what I wanted. And they were good! Crispy in the outside, tender inside, if not wanting for a bit more sodium. And a bit of parm would have been nice, but I knew it didn't come with that when I ordered them. Next, I had the salmon and pesto risotto with wild mushrooms. It was ok! Salmon was a little overcooked, but still tasty and not-to-dry and it had plenty of sodium. It offered a generous portion of salmon, which I couldn't finish. The risotto has slightly undercooked and a little dry. It had lots of cheese and mushrooms (I think I picked them all out! Love mushrooms!). It was a large portion that I couldn't finish, but I was satisfied. The odd thing to this dish was some sort of sweetness that I couldn't identify. I believe it was a glaze on the salmon, but I seemed to taste it more when eating the risotto. It wasn't bad, just somewhat out of place. I think I would have enjoyed the dish more with less sweetness. Overall, I was pleased with the dinner. I have low expectations when eating at hotel restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised with my meal and experience at VUE.

We celebrated my grandpa's 80th birthday here and it was an absolute success. The staff, the food, the view, EVERYTHING was amazing! Matt was so great at communicating, super organized, and just a breath of fresh air when planning this party. Miguel was a tremendous help from start to finish. He pretty much read my mind and got anything and everything for our family before I even had to ask. Matt, Miguel, and the entire Vue Bar + Restaurant were the best! Thank you so much for your services, hospitality, and making my old man's day special

I came here on a staycation. The pretzel was surprisingly good (it had a tad bit too much salt) and the Brussel sprouts were good too. I had the shrimp scampi for my entree. It was ok, but I wouldn't recommend it. It was kinda bland. The garlic bread it came with was pretty good. The view makes you want to stay all night. There was a private party on the side closer to the airport so I wasn't able to sit on that side. Definitely make a reservation so you're guaranteed a table, a lot of people had to wait at the bar.

Always looking for places to go after work - and last Friday found myself at the VUE. Finally Penthouse Bar and Restaurant. At the top of the Holiday Inn over near the Long Beach Airport. Can't miss it. Look for the cylindrical shaped hotel near Willow and Lakewood right off the 405. Lots of parking. And free. Just don't park in the employee structure. At least that's what one of the restaurant staff told me. Which goes along with service. Kimberly - newly hired did a great job. Attentive. Friendly. Great personality and fun. There were a few others who stopped by dropping off drinks or food but I didn't catch their names As for the food and drink - see pics. Enjoyed the appetizers as I wasn't really there to eat - but to drink. Was in the mood for Old Fashions and asked to have the prepared with Rye. Nice and balanced. Food was good too - felt the shrimp was a little underdone but I'm a fan of Sushi and Sashimi so no worries there. Just hate it when shrimp is overcooked. And I basically inhaled the calamari. Good portions for appetizers. It's close to several of my work facilities so it's a given that I'll be back

Upscale Restaurant on 2nd Street with Delicious Food…read more I've visited Saint & Second on multiple occasions: for drinks, a casual lunch, and my birthday dinner. Reservations are fairly easy to get, which make it an optimal choice if I'm looking to have a nice meal. The ambiance of Saint & Second is what sets it apart from other Belmont Shore restaurants. There's indoor seating and rooftop seating upstairs, and both areas are designed impeccably. The food menu changes every few months, which is great because it allows the chefs to experiment with new menu items, but I have been left missing past items. When I returned for the third time for my favorite hummus, I found that it was discontinued for a nice, but less tasty green hummus (which leaned more into an avocado flavor than traditional hummus flavor). Overall, if you'd like to return to Saint and Second, you should expect some changes to menu items every few months and plan accordingly. One appetizer I'd recommend is the tuna on crispy rice. This is a consistent item with great flavors that trump other tuna crispy rice dishes I've had at other restaurants. The amount of fish on this item is generous. If you are celebrating your birthday here like I did, they offer a delcious smores-flavored dessert. However, this dessert is not complimentary, and we were charged without the server informing us of the dessert's price. Overall, in terms of food, this restaurant offers a fresh array of menu items. I believe the server told us that their kitchen is a scratch kitchen, which contributes to the great quality of the food.

We had a reservation for six and the hostess greeted us and sat us right away. Our server, Nate, was fantastic. He knew the menu and answered all of our questions. He even explained how some of the drinks were made. Later we found out he was actually one of the bartenders helping out as a server for the night. Which made sense considering how well he knew how the drinks were made. He was attentive and checked on us often to make sure everything was going well. One thing that made him stand out was, he actually conversed with us rather than just asking if we needed anything and then leaving. The Old Fashioned was one of the smoothest and best I've probably ever had. My nephew ordered the Ube Painkiller after Nate described how it was made. I had a sip, and the ube flavor really came through without overpowering the drink and it was perfectly matched with the dark rum, which Nate said came from the Caribbean. The Brussels sprouts had a nice mix of tender and crispy pieces that gave additional texture. The calamari was tender and the pesto style sauce paired real good with it. The Thai curry sea bass was flavorful, flaky, and had the right amount of spice. The cioppino had a rich shellfish flavor in the broth and I appreciated that the tomato base didn't have such an acidic taste. We also shared the tomahawk, which was juicy, cooked perfectly, and had a sprinkle of coarse salt that really brought out the flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. Happy hour was happening which we took advantage of. It was 4.00 off appetizer, 2.00 off draft wine and beer. Also, they made sure that our little pup was well taken care of as well. Food wise, an order of the poke wrap. Nice chunks of ahi with a scoop of rice, lettuce, avocado and wasabi sauce. It was good but a little messy. As it would be with all of the lettuce wraps. The steamed mussels which is a must. The broth was delicious and served with two nice thick slices of toasted bread. Decent size mussels cooked deliciously in the broth. A must try. Lastly the calamari which was tossed with jalapeños. Both deep fried and quite tasty. Nice crunch to it but not overly cooked. That was also served with two dipping sauce. Everything was delicious. Towards the end of the meal, Melinda noticed that a bug was in my wine which she was very sweet about and made sure to take care of it. The simple little gesture was greatly appreciative. The whole experience was excellent. Everyone was the sweetest and friendliest. Will definitely be back.

Finally made it out and they are about to close. :(…read more It was very busy when we arrived and we had to wait about 20 minutes, but after being seated, everything was smooth. Trying several items on the menu provided us a nice sampling of what they have to offer. We enjoyed everything we ordered. My favorite was probably the Brussel sprouts as they were cooked to perfection and not sweet like most restaurants serve them. A close 2nd was the chicken parmesan served over zucchini noodles. The final item ordered was a mushroom pasta with shrimp. The shrimp were fantastic with a light char and perfect flavoring. The pasta was good. It was a bit to spicy for me with the chili oil so I only had a small portion. The inside is simple yet inviting with an open layout. They seemed a bit short staffed, but every one was hustling and honestly we were well taken care of. Sad I won't have another opportunity to try more of the menu, but grateful to squeeze in this visit before they close in about a week.

It did look quite busy on the patio when we checked in with the hostess. We were informed that it would prob be about 20 minutes or so for a table and if we wanted to wait at the bar. Exactly what we did. Bar area had maybe 5/6 hi top chairs that look onto the bar. Gabriel and Francisco who were working was knocking the drinks out one by one. Sitting there and just watching them create magic for everyone, it was quite amusing. Seeing how it's made and presented with precise detail, it was an art. While waiting for the table we started off with the raspberry lychee martini and the spicy margaritas. Both were great. The right amount of kick with each sip. Gabriel was knocking them out one by one and man was he busy. Fransisco took are of us while we were eating which we ended up just having our dinner at the bar instead. The last time I remembered the chicken Parmesan which was excellent. So we started off with the grilled prawns as a starters. Five prawns in a skewers and grilled with a delicious sauce accompanied. It was tasty and quite delicious. Decent size and meaty for each bite. Entrees was a little mishap as our meal was mistakenly given to the party next to us which they enjoyed. Honesty mistake but we laughed it off. Kitchen was informed and a rushed was put on our order. We weren't in a rush so it was fine with us. They apologized and graciously offered us a dessert after dinner. Something simple but very graceful for the honest mistake. Entrees, the wild mushrooms pasta which was quite tasty and pretty decent in size. The cream sauce which wasn't too over powering the meal was great. Each bite was very tasty. Then there was the chicken Parmesan which why we were here and expecting. The last visit it was excellent with grilled broccolini, slices of tomatoes on top and mozzarella cheese and onto spaghetti pasta. It was great. Thinking it would be the same this time which it wasn't. This visit, it was just served with squash pasta and buffalo mozzarella on top. Honestly it wasn't what I expected, somewhat of a little disappointed. Chicken was good don't get me wrong. But the hot meat with sauce and then you have literally COLD squash pasta paired with it. It was a little underwhelming. Overall, we still had a nice experience. The place was pretty full and of course the lakers were on so it was fun seeing everyone cheering them on. Bar seating for a meal was great as we had fun conversations with both Gabriel and Francisco. Plus they were cranking them drinks out one by one. Excellent in what they do. The drinks were great, grilled prawns and wild mushrooms pastas were excellent. Chicken parm, this time was a miss. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and cocktails. Also the dessert, highly recommend the Cinnabon with vanilla ice cream. Wow, it went down very well. Hoping next time will outdo this.
